Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The usual method for time-frequency representation using Short Time Fourier Transform or Spectrogram does not give precise time frequency information; hence the analysis of signal using them is not much easy. The Wigner Ville Distribution (WVD) can be used for a time-frequency representation of signals with a very good resolution in time and frequency domain. WVD has many features which make them suitable for applications in transient signal detection. This book talks about different time frequency signal representations including Wigner Ville Distribution and presents some methods to reduce the cross terms in WVD. The book also describes some important applications of the variants of WVD in the world of signal processing. This book will help a student or a researcher to learn about time frequency representations and to understand how to use them in a variety of applications.

Book excerpt: Seven contributions discuss in depth several aspects of one of the methods for representing both the frequency domain and the temporal localization of signals, which has tremendous importance in signal analysis and processing. Among them are properties like positivity, spread, and interference-term geometry; signal synthesis methods and their application to signal design, time- frequency filtering, and signal separation; the analysis of non- stationary random processes; singular value decompositions and their application to detection and classification; and optical applications of the Wigner Distribution. Also includes a bibliography of published works on the subject from 1985 to 1992. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

This book was released on 1993 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Machinery operating in non-stationary mode generates a signature which at each instant of time has a distinct frequency. A time-frequency domain representation is needed to characterize such signature. Pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution is ideally suited for portraying non-stationary signal in the time- frequency domain and carried out by adapting the fast Fourier transform algorithm. The important parameters affecting the pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution are discussed and sensitivity analyses are also performed. Practical examples of an actual transient signal are used to illustrate its dynamic features jointly in time and frequency. Pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution, Analytic signal, Hilbert transform, Gaussian window, Time- frequency domain.

This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Because most real-world signals, including speech, sonar, communication, and biological signals, are non-stationary, traditional signal analysis tools such as Fourier transforms are of limited use because they do not provide easily accessible information about the localization of a given frequency component. A more suitable approach for those studying non-stationary signals is the use of time frequency representations that are functions of both time and frequency. Applications in Time-Frequency Signal Processing investigates the use of various time-frequency representations, such as the Wigner distribution and the spectrogram, in diverse application areas. Other books tend to focus on theoretical development. This book differs by highlighting particular applications of time-frequency representations and demonstrating how to use them. It also provides pseudo-code of the computational algorithms for these representations so that you can apply them to your own specific problems. Written by leaders in the field, this book offers the opportunity to learn from experts. Time-Frequency Representation (TFR) algorithms are simplified, enabling you to understand the complex theories behind TFRs and easily implement them. The numerous examples and figures, review of concepts, and extensive references allow for easy learning and application of the various time-frequency representations.
