Book Synopsis Quaternary Glaciations - Extent and Chronology by : J. Ehlers
Download or read book Quaternary Glaciations - Extent and Chronology written by J. Ehlers and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2004-10-02 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the second of three volumes in which the recent knowledge of the extent and chronology of Quaternary glaciations has been compiled on a global scale. This information is seen as a fundamental requirement, not only for the glacial community, but for the wider user-community of general Quaternary workers. In particular the need for accurate ice-front positions is a basic requirement for the rapidly growing field of palaeoclimate modelling. In order to provide the information for the widest-possible range of users in the most accessible form, a series of digital maps was prepared. The glacial limits were mapped in ArcView, the Geographical Information System (GIS) used by the work group. Included with the publication is a CD with digital maps, showing glacial limits, end moraines, ice-dammed lakes, glacier-induced drainage diversions and the locations of key sections through which the glacial limits are defined and dated. The last deglaciation is also shown in 500 year time-steps. The digital maps in this volume cover the USA and Canada and include Greenland and Hawaii. Both overview maps and more detailed maps at a scale 1: 1,000,000 are provided. Also available:Part I: Europe, ISBN 0-444-51462-7Part III: South America, Asia, Africa, Australia, Antarctica, ISBN 0-444-51593-3

This book was released on 1992 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mineral exploration in large parts of Canada is difficult because the bedrock is hidden beneath thick layers of glacially derived sediments. One technique to overcome this, called drift prospecting, identifies high concentrations of economically significant minerals or elements in the glacial sediments and helps to identify their bedrock sources. This project was designed to interpret Quaternary geology to assist in mineral development. This report shows how the geochemistry and lithology of the glacial sediments vary across the region and how the stratigraphy and provenance of those sediments can be interpreted so that geochemical anomalies or mineralized boulders may be traced back to their bedrock sources.
Book Synopsis An Integrated Geological, Geochemical, and Geophysical Investigation of Uranium Metallogenesis in Selected Granitic Plutons of the Miramichi Anticlinorium, New Brunswick by : H. H. Hassan
Download or read book An Integrated Geological, Geochemical, and Geophysical Investigation of Uranium Metallogenesis in Selected Granitic Plutons of the Miramichi Anticlinorium, New Brunswick written by H. H. Hassan and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Integrated geological, geochemical and geophysical data for the posttectonic granitic rocks of the North Pole, Burnthill, Dungarvon, Trout Brook, and Rocky Brook plutons and surrounding areas were examined to assess their potential for uranium mineralization. Geological, geochemical, and geophysical criteria that are thought to be useful guides for uranium exploration were also established for the host granites.

This book was released on 1990 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Description of the geology of the New Denmark-Salmon River area of Victoria County, northwestern N.B. to provide detailed geological data for a superficially mapped area of the County, and to stimulate mineral exploration. Data obtained from the field mapping program was compiled at a scale of 1:20,000. More than a thousand outcrops were examined over a 1250 sq km area during two field seasons. From these outcrops studies were carried out on 140 thin sections of representative rock samples; 20 large samples of fossiliferous rocks for identification and age determination; 31 samples of volcanic rocks for major and trace elements; and multi-element analysis of 28 samples, mainly of volcanic rocks, for mineral potential evaluation.

Book Synopsis Polymetallic Deposits of Sisson Brook and Mount Pleasant, New Brunswick, Canada by : L. R. Fyffe
Download or read book Polymetallic Deposits of Sisson Brook and Mount Pleasant, New Brunswick, Canada written by L. R. Fyffe and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 67 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This field guide describes two granite-related polymetallic mineral deposits that have been extensively explored in New Brunswick, Canada. One is located at Sisson Brook in west-central New Brunswick and is a large-tonnage, low-grade tungsten-molybdenum-copper deposit. The other is situated at Mount Pleasant in southwestern New Brunswick and is a small-tonnage, high-grade tin-tungsten-molybdenum-bismuth-indium deposit. Both deposits are associated with similarly aged plutonic rocks but exhibit contrasting mineralization styles that reflect different physicochemical conditions of formation. The geological settings and mineralization styles at Sisson Brook and Mount Pleasant can be observed in road, power line, quarry, and trench exposures. Metallogenetic models developed for these two deposits are compared here with those proposed for other polymetallic deposits in the region."--Document.
