Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Dutch "WISKOBAS" stands for a particular kind of mathematics in the elementary school (ages 6-12). In tum Wiskobas was one of the depart ments in the IOWO, the Institute for the Development of Mathematics Education. This institute was concerned with the development of material for mathematics education as well as the related research on the possibility of change from the then existing arithmetic instruction to the future mathematics education. The present publication Three Dimensions has three aims: to give a picture of the goals Wiskobas set for future mathematics education, at the same time to show how such goals can be described, and to show the theoretical framework of the Wiskobas curriculum. The problem at hand is not at all simple. What is more, Wiskobas' ideas about mathematics education cannot literally be translated into strings of words. So how can we face the accusation that our objectives are unattain able and the goal itself irrational? In order to avoid this vagueness as much as possible and for the sake of clarity, this book makes continuous use of illustrations of mathematics education. In these examples both the subject-matter and the methods of description of the goals are illustrated as explicitly as possible, while at the same time creating the opportunity to read between the lines. The reader is urged to follow carefully the mathe matical material at the start of each chapter. This advice applies both to the more general education oriented, and to the more mathematical! didactical reader.

While authoritarians and algorithms threaten democracy, we argue over who has the right to speak. To protect ourselves from encroaching tyranny, we must look beyond this one-dimensional notion of what it means to be free and, by reconnecting liberty to equality and accountability, restore the individual agency engendered by the three dimensions of freedom.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three Dimensions of Learning: A Blueprint for Learning from the Womb to the School is an informative guidebook designed to help parents and educators become more aware of the ways in which they can stifle or empower the future of the child. It follows the development of the whole child from life inside the womb to life in the school. At every stage the importance of addressing the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual states of the child is emphasized. For the first two dimensions of learning, the womb and the home, parents are in charge. The author encourages parents to develop resiliency in their children to help prepare them for life outside of the home. Do you know how to develop resiliency in your child? Have you taught him or her how to deal with bullying? Parents are reminded of developmental milestones and how to use them. Home tests and activities are provided to help parents support normal development as well as recognize the symptoms of possible developmental delays or conditions. The role of the teacher is highlighted during the third dimension of learning. Teachers are encouraged to connect to each child at an emotional level, to seek knowledge of the childs interests, talents and passions. Information that will increase the teachers awareness of hidden disabilities and how to recognize their symptoms is provided. For example, do you have a student that leans to one side when reading or complains about tags in clothing? The author shares science-informed teaching strategies that demonstrate how the brain learns and how being aware of this can change a childs life. Dont miss this opportunity to bolster your understanding of how the mind works and become a better parent, educator and or administrator with Three Dimensions of Learning.
Book Synopsis Coaching in Three Dimensions by : Paul Lawrence
Download or read book Coaching in Three Dimensions written by Paul Lawrence and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-09-03 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traditional approaches to coaching fail to account for the way organizations really work. Attempts to enhance leadership capability one person at a time, through private one-to-one coaching sessions, are unlikely to succeed by themselves. Coaching in Three Dimensions: Meeting the Challenges of a Complex World offers a more connected, systemic approach, aligning coaching with the realities and challenges of organizations operating in an ever more complex world. Coaching in Three Dimensions is structured around a central model: the three dimensions of coaching. Using stories and case studies, the book enables readers to: Consider their current and desired approach to coaching: is it traditional, dialogic, or systemic? Identify which areas of practice they work in and wish to work in: one-to-one coaching, group/team coaching, and/or organizational coaching? Think about stretching their development as a coach in terms of competence, capability, and perspective: how do you enhance your capacity to manage the challenges of increasing complexity? The book explains complexity using simple language and easy-to-recognize examples, and suggests pragmatic approaches going forwards. Coaches will learn how to expand their scope and impact, and to navigate the new and difficult challenges posed by contemporary businesses. Clients wishing to use coaching in complex change work will learn what to look out for in prospective coaches and how to best deploy them in their organizations. Coaching in Three Dimensions will appeal greatly to all coaches, including those working with organisations, students and those in training, as well as HR and OD professionals and senior leaders.
