Book excerpt: There is an obvious movement taking place in America today. Its roar is unmistakable. This work is a humble attempt to identify and discuss some of the particulars influencing our Country today. Although some concerns travel back over fifteen years, they still remain pertinent and effecting. My approach to our Nation’s ailments may seem out of sync or infuriating at first, yet, isn’t this reaction indicative of just how far we’ve strayed from our experiment of freedom and individual liberty? My point is that much of what currently ails America can be simply cured through both ample doses of individual responsibility and Constitutional allegiance. Hopefully, you will agree.

Book excerpt: Every boy has dreams of the man he will become--exploring the world, fighting the enemy, and being dangerous for good. He imagines himself as the hero, the expert, the one others look up to. Then somewhere along the way, the lies of the enemy knock him down, his dreams are shattered, and he loses purpose as the enemy attempts to rob him of his true identity. In this hard-hitting book, world-class hunter, adventurer, and popular speaker Brent Henderson takes men on a journey to some of the most dangerous and deadly places on earth. Along the way, he helps each man discover that the most powerful force in the universe can be found in his spirit, where God resides. He shows men how to recover what's been lost by answering their biggest questions: Who am I really? Where does my value come from? and Am I enough? The perfect gift for Father's Day, The Roar Within will set men free and equip them to live lives of purpose, courage, and confidence.

Book excerpt: "ROAR is for everyone who is thinking about where they are in life-and those who want more out of life. From author Michael Clinton, former president and publishing director of Hearst Magazines, ROAR helps both those considering retirement and those who have no wish to retire get on with fulfilling their dreams-before it's too late. We are living in a time when everyone is constantly reassessing what is next for them. In the mid-career group, people who have spent years working in a business are now seeing their industry changing dramatically and are facing the question: "What does that mean for me in the next twenty years?" At the same time, the post-career group is also going through massive change. Many in this group are still not prepared financially, logistically, or emotionally to make the decisions necessary to face the next phase of their lives. While they may be thinking about retiring, they don't necessarily want to do nothing. ROAR will help both groups think about what is really important to them, and how to plan and take meaningful action so that the second half of their lives can be happy and productive. The book offers a unique and dynamic 4-part process called ROAR: Reimagine yourself, Own who you are, Act on what's next, and Reassess your relationships. This is the method Michael uses himself to pursue a purposeful life-and now he shares his technique and approach so you can expand your own life too. Prescriptive and inspiring, with personal anecdotes from his life as well as from others he interviewed for the book, ROAR is highly accessible, entertaining, and transformative"--

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Denis Pack was one of a phalanx of senior Anglo-Irish officers who served with great distinction in the British army in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic wars, earning a reputation as one of the Duke of Wellington’s most able brigade commanders. Despite his remarkable and varied military career, he hasn’t received the individual attention he deserves, but this omission has now been remedied by Marcus de la Poer Beresford’s full biography. Pack, who was born in 1774, served extensively in Europe as well as in Africa and South America. He was one of the few brigade commanders to serve first with the Portuguese army, and then with Wellington, in the Peninsula, at Quatre Bras, Waterloo and afterwards in the occupation of France. His life was cut short by an early death in 1823, which may have been the result of the many wounds he received in his thirty years as a soldier. This perceptive and meticulously researched study draws on previously unpublished material from archives in the United Kingdom, Portugal and Ireland. It complements other works on notable officers of the period, as Pack served with Cornwallis, Baird, Beresford, Whitelocke, Chatham, Picton, Henry Clinton, and others as well as Wellington. In addition it offers an absorbing portrait of Pack himself and gives the reader a fascinating insight into the many campaigns he took part in and the military life of his day.

With a heroine that rivals Buffy, Raised by Wolves will leave you howling for more. Adopted by the alpha of a werewolf pack after a rogue wolf brutally killed her parents right before her eyes, fifteen-year-old Bryn knows only pack life and the rigid social hierarchy that controls it. That doesn't mean that she's averse to breaking a rule or two. But when her curiosity gets the better of her and she discovers Chase, a new teen locked in a cage in her guardian's basement, and witnesses him turn into a wolf before her eyes, the horrific memories of her parents' murders return. Bryn becomes obsessed with getting her questions answered, and Chase is the only one who can provide the information she needs. But in her drive to find the truth, will Bryn push too far beyond the constraints of the pack, forcing her to leave behind her friends, her family, and the identity that she's shaped?
