Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Revised and updated (first edition, 1989), this thorough compilation presents the most comprehensive data-tables available to date for the thermodynamic properties of pure substances. The massive collection covers 2,400 pure substances, including 100 organic compounds as well as substances never before discussed in similar tables. The broad scope of thermochemical functions included ranges from heat capacity, entropy, and Gibbs energy function to enthalpy of formation and equilibrium constant of formation. The value of these functions is tabulated at intervals of 100 K, starting at room temperature, and going up to 5000 K. Combining all the well-established tabulations with a broad range of more recent publications, the compilation also introduces thermodynamics and describes the fundamental relations of chemical thermodynamics. Numerous examples illustrate the use of the tables. For metallurgical, ceramic, and chemical engineers. Annotation copyright by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

Book Synopsis Rate Constant Calculation for Thermal Reactions by : Herbert DaCosta
Download or read book Rate Constant Calculation for Thermal Reactions written by Herbert DaCosta and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-12-28 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Providing an overview of the latest computational approaches to estimate rate constants for thermal reactions, this book addresses the theories behind various first-principle and approximation methods that have emerged in the last twenty years with validation examples. It presents in-depth applications of those theories to a wide range of basic and applied research areas. When doing modeling and simulation of chemical reactions (as in many other cases), one often has to compromise between higher-accuracy/higher-precision approaches (which are usually time-consuming) and approximate/lower-precision approaches (which often has the advantage of speed in providing results). This book covers both approaches. It is augmented by a wide-range of applications of the above methods to fuel combustion, unimolecular and bimolecular reactions, isomerization, polymerization, and to emission control of nitrogen oxides. An excellent resource for academics and industry members in physical chemistry, chemical engineering, and related fields.
Book Synopsis Strontium Aluminate by : Petr Ptáček
Download or read book Strontium Aluminate written by Petr Ptáček and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2014-07-02 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Strontium aluminate cement is special inorganic cement with the properties which make it favorable for various special applications such as refractory products, macro defect free (MDF) composites, blended cements and expansive cements for high temperature applications. There is an immense number of possible combinations which can be made to prepare blended and multicomponent cements and to investigate the influence of substitutions on the properties of strontium aluminate. Divided into ten sections, this book provides the latest research achievements in many aspects of this binder. The manufacturing, the hydration process, the setting behavior and the properties are described. The book contains many original and firstly published experimental research results obtained during writing. Currently there is no comprehensive work on this topic in literature. From this point of view, the book is a pilot work on this topic and should attract the attention of researchers and bring further progress of this topic.

This book was released on 2013-12-01 with total page 452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Conference Overview and the Role of Chemistry in High-Temperature Materials Science and Technology LEO BREWER Department of ChemistIy, University of California, and Materials and Chemical Sciences Division, Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, 1 Cyclotron Road, Berkeley, CA 94720 I don't want to compete with the fascinating historic account that John Drowart gave us, but I would like to go through the history of high don't get the reaction that I get from temperature symposia. I hope I some of my classes when I say, "Remember when such-and-such hap pened during the War?" And I get this blank look, and one of the students will say, "I wasn't born until after the Korean War. " Neverthe less, during World War II, many people in the high-temperature field had their first initiation. But there was one handicap. Owing to security measures, they were not able to interact with one another. Following the War, it was recognized that the high-temperature field was going to expand to meet the demands for materials with unique properties. To meet the demands for new fabrication techniques, it was important to establish better communications among various people. High-tempera ture symposia were established at that time and have continued very frequently, and I'd like to point out why they are especially important for this field. One problem is that it is not easy to work at high temperatures.

Book Synopsis Scientific Modeling and Simulations by : Sidney Yip
Download or read book Scientific Modeling and Simulations written by Sidney Yip and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-04-07 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although computational modeling and simulation of material deformation was initiated with the study of structurally simple materials and inert environments, there is an increasing demand for predictive simulation of more realistic material structure and physical conditions. In particular, it is recognized that applied mechanical force can plausibly alter chemical reactions inside materials or at material interfaces, though the fundamental reasons for this chemomechanical coupling are studied in a material-speci c manner. Atomistic-level s- ulations can provide insight into the unit processes that facilitate kinetic reactions within complex materials, but the typical nanosecond timescales of such simulations are in contrast to the second-scale to hour-scale timescales of experimentally accessible or technologically relevant timescales. Further, in complex materials these key unit processes are “rare events” due to the high energy barriers associated with those processes. Examples of such rare events include unbinding between two proteins that tether biological cells to extracellular materials [1], unfolding of complex polymers, stiffness and bond breaking in amorphous glass bers and gels [2], and diffusive hops of point defects within crystalline alloys [3].
