Book Synopsis Thermal Analysis of Underground Power Cable Using Finite Element Metho by : Naskar a K
Download or read book Thermal Analysis of Underground Power Cable Using Finite Element Metho written by Naskar a K and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2015-07-13 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Highlights of the Book 1. This book deals with recent advances in power cable thermal modeling and steady-state temperature rise calculations which employ the finite-element method in a student friendly format. 2. A general derivation of the finite element equations by the method of weighted residuals (Galerkin's method) is introduced. 3. FORTANT language has been used extensively for thermal analysis. 4. Temperature distribution in a cable has been dealt with in detail. 5. The model is applied to one 3-core under ground cables of 6.6 kV and the temperatures obtained are found to be within the permissible limit in terms of overall temperature rise computed from the resulting loss density distribution.

Book Synopsis Environmental Impacts on Underground Power Distribution by : Gouda, Osama El-Sayed
Download or read book Environmental Impacts on Underground Power Distribution written by Gouda, Osama El-Sayed and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2016-01-07 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The successful transmission of electrical power beneath the surface of the earth depends on a number of factors including ambient temperature, sheath bonding, cable laying depth, and especially the formation of dry zones around underground cables. Environmental Impacts on Underground Power Distribution studies the factors which affect the maximum current rating of subterranean power cables as well as various methods to maximize electrical current transmission. Focusing on the latest tools, methodologies, and research in the field, this publication is designed for use by electrical engineers, academicians, researchers, and upper-level students.
Book Synopsis Thermal Analysis of Residential Electric Cables by :
Download or read book Thermal Analysis of Residential Electric Cables written by and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A steady-state heat transfer analysis has been conducted to studythe thermal characteristics of electrical cables embedded inthermal insulation in the attic space of residential homes forvarious conditions. The results of the analysis includetemperature distributions throughout the modelled regionsincluding the cable. A comparison of the theoretical predictionswith existing experimental results shows good agreement. Anequation describing the maximum conductor temperature as afunction of current and insulation thickness was developed byfitting curves through the finite element results.
