Although that is true, we can point to the things that God has revealed in His word. He is far greater than our greatest imaginations. He is fully God but also fully man. He not only created the universe, but He also holds it all together. He is both the sacrifice for our sins and our Great High Priest. He is ever the Pioneer, leading the way. Do we look for a love beyond full human comprehension? There is no one like Jesus in His love. Do we look for a power that can not only change us, but also change society? There is no one like Jesus in what He can do. Do we look for one who knows the future and will lead us into the future? Jesus is the only one who can do that. Jesus surpasses the greatest human beings in His character traits. He excels in all His ministries. He is unique from whatever perspective we look at Him. I was a speech major at California State University at Long Beach in the early seventies and was required to speak and read aloud on many occasions. It is not an art easily developed and frightens many otherwise-stout personalities. One major component is eye contact. That is most difficult while reading from the written page. The problem is returning the eye to the spot on the page required to continue reading. This book has been designed to give ample spacing to help overcome this problem and entertain others with different styles of delivery. I hope you will enjoy reading the offerings in this book to others.

Katharina Stern, a busy school principal at a rural school in the former German Democratic Republic, finds herself reevaluating the past and life itself when her son suffers a mysterious collapse. As her family slowly comes to terms with Felix's brain tumor, Katharina recalls the days of living in 'the Golden Cage' of the GDR, the events that triggered her dawning realization that not all was as idyllic as it seemed to be, and the sudden, harsh changes that took place when the Berlin Wall fell. This is a deeply personal and philosophical look at the history of East Germany, and the meaning of personal freedom and our own ideals. An exciting and touching novel about life’s irritations here and now, which stimulates the reader’s inner reflection

Who do I lean on when my foundation of life is crumbling? I'm Lindsay Hill, and I'm sinking fast. My husband of eight years is in harm's way, fighting a war in Iraq; my three children rely on me to be mother and father, and the doctor says, "Mrs. Hill, we found cancer." This feeling is unfamiliar to me. My hands are cold, palms are sweating, head thumping, heart racing, and I can't breathe. It's fear, and I know it is, and it's lurking around every corner. It has me trapped. I'm scared to go to sleep, and I'm scared to wake up. The ground all around me is sinking, about to swallow me up. All I did was wake up one day. I am under attack, and I can't see the attacker. He is everywhere, and I feel him getting closer. I smell him. It's the smell of hatred. No! It's the smell of death. I can't give up. I can't let him catch me. He is after me, and he wants me dead. Read about Lindsay's journey and how she travels the only road available to her.

This book was released on 2022-02-08 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Finalist for the National Jewish Book Awards Finalist, National Translation Award in Prose An exquisitely original collection of darkly funny stories that explore the panorama of Jewish experience in contemporary Poland, from a world-class contemporary writer “These small, searing prose pieces are moving and unsettling at the same time. If the diagnosis they present is right, then we have a great problem in Poland.” —Olga Tokarczuk, Nobel Prize laureate and author of Flights Mikołaj Grynberg is a psychologist and photographer who has spent years collecting and publishing oral histories of Polish Jews. In his first work of fiction—a book that has been widely praised by critics and was shortlisted for Poland’s top literary prize—Grynberg recrafts those histories into little jewels, fictionalized short stories with the ring of truth. Both biting and knowing, I’d Like to Say Sorry, but There’s No One to Say Sorry To takes the form of first-person vignettes, through which Grynberg explores the daily lives and tensions within Poland between Jews and gentiles haunted by the Holocaust and its continuing presence. In “Unnecessary Trouble,” a grandmother discloses on her deathbed that she is Jewish; she does not want to die without her family knowing. What is passed on to the family is fear and the struggle of what to do with this information. In “Cacophony,” Jewish identity is explored through names, as Miron and his son Jurek demonstrate how heritage is both accepted and denied. In “My Five Jews,” a non-Jewish narrator remembers five interactions with her Jewish countrymen, and her own anti-Semitism, ruefully noting that perhaps she was wrong and should apologize, but no one is left to say “I’m sorry” to. Each of the thirty-one stories is a dazzling and haunting mini-monologue that highlights a different facet of modern Poland’s complex and difficult relationship with its Jewish past.

What's revealed are networks of spies and criminals fighting an invisible war that involves us all' Eliot Higgins, bestselling author of We Are Bellingcat Summer 2017: computer screens go blank in 150 countries. The NHS is so affected that hospitals can only take in patients for A&E. Ambulances are grounded. Computer screens turn on spontaneously and warnings appear. Employees who desperately pull the plugs are too late. Restarting is pointless; the computers are locked. And now the attackers ask each victim for money. This is hijack software. It is just one example of how vulnerable the digital world has made us. Based on the cases he investigated over a period of six years, award-winning Dutch journalist Huib Modderkolk takes the reader on a tour of the corridors and back doors of the globalised digital world. He reconstructs British-American espionage operations and reveals how the power relationships between countries enable intelligence services to share and withhold data from each other. Looking at key players including Edward Snowden, Russian hackers Cozy Bear and Evgeniy Bogachev, 'the Pablo Escobar of the digital era', Modderkolk opens our eyes to the dark underbelly of the digital world with the narrative drive of a thriller.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book comprises interviews with some of the last surviving veterans of the Jewish Fighting Organization in the Warsaw ghetto, accompanied by never previously published photographic “postcards” from a number of ghettos, and a reconstruction of the only surviving contemporary list of those soldiers. The first part of the book, “Still Circling,” is a collection of interviews with the last surviving soldiers of the Jewish Fighting Organization (ŻOB), which fought in the Warsaw ghetto uprising. The section opens with an interview recorded in 1985 with ŻOB commander Marek Edelman, and ends with another conversation with him recorded in 2000. Grupińska’s other interlocutors are also ŻOB veterans—rank-and-file soldiers, men and women. These veterans relate the stories of their homes and their backgrounds—some were Bundists, others from Zionist or religious families—followed by their recollections of how they experienced and remembered the uprising, which provides several unique perspectives of shared episodes. Images include portraits of Grupińska’s interlocutors as well as never before published photographs of the ghetto and its surroundings that are reminiscent of postcards. The second part of the book, “Rereading the List,” is intended to function like a litany of the names of the ŻOB members who fought in the Warsaw ghetto uprising. This “list” was compiled by a group of fighters in 1943 and rediscovered by the author in 2000. Each name is accompanied by a short story about the fighter—sometimes only a sentence or two—as well as any available photograph of them. The list is followed by a reconstruction of the ŻOB army, which captures its divisions and the places they fought.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who is Jesus Christ? You've never met Him in person, and you don't know anyone who has. But there is a way to know who he is. How? Jesus Christ - the divine Person revealed in the Bible - has a unique excellence and a spiritual beauty that speaks directly to our souls and says, "Yes, this is truth." It's like seeing the sun and knowing that it is light, or tasting honey and knowing that it is sweet. The depth and complexity of Jesus shatter our simple mental frameworks. He baffled proud scribes with his wisdom but was understood and loved by children. He calmed a raging storm with a word but would not get himself down from the cross. Look at the Jesus of the Bible. Keep your eyes open, and fill them with the portrait of Jesus in God's Word. Jesus said, "If anyone's will is to do God's will, He will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own authority." Ask God for the grace to do His will, and you will see the truth of His Son. John Piper has written this book in the hope that all will see Jesus for who he really is and will come to enjoy him above all else.

Book excerpt: Colonizing the galaxy’s near reaches, the myriad, mutated children of Earth are loosely governed by Imperium Terrestriana, and a hierarchy headed by an elite neohuman minority proactively fostering Convention, a body of civil law that featured Code Duello, and under its precepts trillions of eligible patricians and plebes wield their swords to settle all public and private disputes. Imperial explorers discover parsecs-distant Dan, a raw, idyllic world seemingly ripe for colonization, where enigmatic indigenes exhibiting superior intellect come and go like shadows, yet lack habitations or any visible infrastructure. The telepathic Danii who abhor violence are horrified when sequestered duelists begin vanishing, and repeatedly explain how mysterious “Higher Ones,” appalled by the wanton destruction of life wrought by victorious duelists, “have taken miscreant smallswordsmen into their gentle care.” The unseen Higher Ones make their acute displeasure known through precipitate action in a chilling, ironic climax that raises provocative questions about neohumankind’s place in the eternal scheme of things.

The man, Debashish, is haunted by his wife’s recent suicide and is tormented by the possibility that his young son would rather live away from him. Through spare prose and searing dialogue, this novel unfolds over twelve hours on a single day. It reveals the often complex reasons that hold human relationships together and the motives that break them apart.
