Back deduces that if something, known as the singularity, existed before it expanded, then time must have begun prior to the actual expansion which is commonly referred to as the big bang. Whether the super-dense object existed for a fraction of a second or for multi-trillion years is not a critical factor. That the super-dense object existed prior to the big bang means it had to come from somewhere. Where? Therein lays the author's Theory of the Total Universe for which he provides some insights as to how it can be proved.
