Book excerpt: A travers ce mémoire, nous nous sommes interrogés sur la pertinence qu'il y aurait à utiliser certaines techniques de théâtre classique dans la rééducation orthophonique de l'aphasie, et plus particulièrement celle de l'anarthrie et de la dysprosodie. La rééducation de l'anarthrie nécessite, entre autre, l'utilisation de mots et de phrases constitués de phonèmes les plus proches possibles de manière à réduire au maximum le travail de synergie musculaire. A cet égard, nous pouvons souligner que l'écriture théâtrale respecte l'euphonie. D'autre part, pour réduire l'anarthrie, l'orthophoniste utilise un matériel linguistique comportant des phonèmes voisés ou constrictifs. Sur ce point, les textes de théâtre classique, riches en assonances et en allitérations, peuvent présenter un support intéressant pour ce type de travail. La rééducation de la dysprosodie repose sur des exercices permettant de travailler l'enchainement vocalique, le respect des liaisons, l'accentuation et le mouvement mélodique. Les pièces de théâtre contiennent des dialogues variés exprimant la joie, le doute, la surprise, la colère ou la peur. Elles peuvent alors constituer un outil pertinent pour travailler l'intonation et l'expression de différents sentiments. Enfin, le travail effectué lors de la lecture de dialogues permet d'aborder les relations entre les personnages et replace artificiellement le patient dans une situation de communication. Un protocole expérimental a été élaboré afin d'être testé sur une population adulte.

Pour ce faire, une partie théorique s'attache à définir les termes et présente les utilisations du théâtre qui sont faites dans diverses autres disciplines telles la psychologie et la sociologie. Puis, par des enquêtes auprès de différentes structures utilisant le théâtre à des fins thérapeutiques ou avec des personnes dont le type de pathologie fait partie du champ orthophonique, par des entretiens avec les responsables de ces centres afin de déterminer l'incidence d'une pratique théâtrale sur le langage, la mémoire, ... par le biais d'un questionnaire destiné aux orthophonistes et portant sur l'utilisation de techniques liées au théâtre dans leur pratique personnelle, ce mémoire va définir un certain nombre de domaines souvent abordés en orthophonie et qui sont incidemment travaillés lors de toute pratique théâtrale ou d'art dramatique. Enfin, comme ce mémoire se veut aussi un outil pratique, un certain nombre des techniques théâtrales qui ont pu être observées y est exposé. Et, afin de permettre aux néophytes d'aborder sereinement ce type de pratique, 50 exercices tirés du travail d'acteur ou du domaine de l'improvisation sont présentés avec deux tableaux récapitulatifs des éléments travaillés et du type de public à qui les exercices pourraient plus particulièrement convenir. Force est de constater que dans ce type de prise en charge, où une forte implication corporelle est requise, le patient, comme l'orthophoniste d'ailleurs, ne peut pas rester en retrait. Tous deux sont alors amenés à être agissants et de par-là même, ACTEURS. C'est cette mise en actes qui favorisera parfois la mise en mots et l'accès à de nouvelles aptitudes à communiquer.
