Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inundated by popular culture, many women have lost their bearings and no longer trust the internal compass that intuitively affirms those things that are good, true, and noble about womanhood. As Jesus’ favorite and most powerful teaching tactic was the parable, it is appropriate that Mary Kassian walks the reader through the compelling tale of the wild versus wise woman found in Proverbs 7. By using 20 points of contrast, she helps readers discern wild from wise, saucy from biblically savvy, and more. Girls Gone Wise in a World Gone Wild will captivate, convict, and challenge women to become decreasingly worldly and increasingly godly, and it will equip them with truth for that journey. Includes questions for personal reflection at the end of each chapter

Book excerpt: The Wise Woman: A Parable (1875) (Published also as "The Lost Princess: A Double Story"; or as "A Double Story.")The Lost Princess: A Double Story, first published in 1875 as The Wise Woman: A Parable, is a fairy tale novel by George MacDonald. The story describes how a woman of mysterious powers pays visits to two very different young girls: one a princess, the other a shepherd's daughter. It has been regarded as ahead of its time in its approach to parenting. George MacDonald (10 December 1824 - 18 September 1905) was a Scottish author, poet, and Christian minister. He was a pioneering figure in the field of fantasy literature and the mentor of fellow writer Lewis Carroll. His writings have been cited as a major literary influence by many notable authors including W. H. Auden, C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, Walter de la Mare, E. Nesbit and Madeleine L'Engle.C. S. Lewis wrote that he regarded MacDonald as his "master" "Picking up a copy of Phantastes one day at a train-station bookstall, I began to read. A few hours later," said Lewis, "I knew that I had crossed a great frontier." G. K. Chesterton cited The Princess and the Goblin as a book that had "made a difference to my whole existence." Elizabeth Yates wrote of Sir Gibbie, "It moved me the way books did when, as a child, the great gates of literature began to open and first encounters with noble thoughts and utterances were unspeakably thrilling." Even Mark Twain, who initially disliked MacDonald, became friends with him, and there is some evidence that Twain was influenced by MacDonald.Christian author Oswald Chambers (1874-1917) wrote in Christian Disciplines, vol. 1, (pub. 1934) that "it is a striking indication of the trend and shallowness of the modern reading public that George MacDonald's books have been so neglected." In addition to his fairy tales, MacDonald wrote several works on Christian apologetics including several that defended his view of Christian Universalism.......

Book excerpt: The Wise Woman is a shining example, and my personal favourite amongst all of MacDonald's fiction. It is an excellent resource for anyone wishing for reinforcement in the development of diligence, responsibility, loyalty and faith. It is a powerful motivator for those of us who struggle with procrastination and sloth. It is a tender help in discerning between genuine love and selfish neglect or indulgence. It is an encouraging testament to the gracious and nurturing care of our Heavenly Father. And as in much of MacDonald's writing, it offers rich treasures on the subjects of duty, obedience and the process by which we yield to God's transforming power. George MacDonald was a 19th century Aberdeenshire Scot; a professor, pastor, preacher, poet and author. He is considered by many the "father of fantasy" and bore strong influence on W.H. Auden, G.K. Chesterton, Madeline L'Engle, C.S. Lewis, E. Nesbit, J.R.R. Tolkien, Mark Twain and Elizabeth Yates. While his literary impact was profound, moreso has his faith inspired these and countless others who have been stimulated by his character and theology as expressed simply and profoundly in stories and parables.

Book excerpt: Before rebuilding, you must have good blueprints. Your blueprints must be His Word, which you will find in this book-always read the Scriptures, never skip them. Next, you must find the Cornerstone that everything will be built on. Our Cornerstone is taking Jesus as your Lord, not just your Savior, then to go beyond joy as you become His beautiful bride. With a renewed mind, the Lord's blueprint, and Him by your side, you will then be able to rebuild your life instead of foolishly building it on sinking sand. Those of you who are sitting amidst rubble because your house has fallen (through infidelity or divorce) really have the advantage. You are motivated to begin to rebuild your life. This is where I was when I first began writing the book for women. It was painful for me, but it was worth every tear I ever cried!
