Her forbears for many generations back were confirmed believers in the doctrines of the papacy. Baptized into the Roman Church when only one day old, she continued a faithful communicant of that religious body for 20 years. Then becoming interested in reading the Sacred Scriptures, she was led by her study to renounce the papal faith. Thereafter devoting her energies to the propagation of the evangelical doctrines found in Holy Writ, she had many years of success in teaching the gospel truths to others. This book does not propose to delve into the abstruse, philosophical discussions by notable theologians of the Roman Catholic Church, but rather presents a candid and practical study of the principal papal doctrines as they are taught to the rank and file of that sect. This edition contains her last update to the book with Appendixes to each chapter.

The language of the inspired writers expresses in the most vivid manner, the awful and terrific scenes of that day in which God arises from His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth. God always warns before sending His judgments. As He warned Sodom and Gomorrah before sending fire and brimstone, and the antediluvian world through Noah before the flood, even so today He is sending a message of warning. In Revelation, Chapter 14, we find the three angels' messages which are being heralded around the world.

Book excerpt: Between Rome and Babylon includes over thirty papers by Aharon Oppenheimer about Jewish life in Palestine and Babylonia in the period of the Mishnah and the Talmud (1st-4th centuries), dealing with leadership and society, political and military activity, relations with the authorities and historical geography. The collection is organized around three inter-connected themes: 1 Roman Palestine and its Environs; 2 The Bar Kokhba Revolt; 3 Babylonia Judaica. About two-thirds of the papers were originally published in Hebrew. They have been selected and edited for this collection, and translated for the first time into English or German. The rest of the papers originally appeared in various different languages and contexts, and they too have been selected and edited to fit the three themes. Cross-references have been added, as well as detailed indices. The aim of the papers is to cast light on Jewish history by extracting methodically historical meaning from Talmudic sources, taking into account when they were written, where they were edited, and how far they can be presumed authentic; and by looking at them in combination with Greek, Roman, Persian and Arabic written sources as well as relevant archaeological finds.

Book excerpt: Christians are by their nature a people out of place. Their true home is with God; in civic life, they are alien citizens "in but not of the world." In American Babylon, eminent theologian Richard John Neuhaus examines the particular truth of that ambiguity for Catholics in America today. Neuhaus addresses the essential quandaries of Catholic life -- assessing how Catholics can keep their heads above water in the sea of immorality that confronts them in the world, how they can be patriotic even though their true country is not in this world, and how they might reconcile their duties as citizens with their commitment to God. Deeply learned, frequently combative, and always eloquent, American Babylon is Neuhaus's magnum opus -- and will be essential reading for all Christians.

I was going through some old files and I came up with some stuff I hadn't published. So I threw it all together and made something out of it. If nothing else it should be interesting as there are some off the wall topics included, as well as some of my attempts at poetry. But if you look at the Table of Contents you might find something interesting. For instance "Was America Founded As a Christian Nation"? Or the history of Babylon or the history of the Nephilim? How about "God and Science"? How about the paganism attached to the Roman Church, who ruled Rome for 1000 years? There are some more familiar topics, always involved with Walking with God In the spirit. Also "Will There Ever Be world Peace" and the "Role of Faith In Politics." I've even included a peace on "Christian Astrology" and "Biblical Numerology." So here's hoping you enjoy it and learn a thing or two.

Book excerpt: The Book of Revelation contains some of the most difficult passages in Scripture. Grant Osborne's commentary on Revelation interprets the text while also introducing readers to the perspectives of contemporary scholarship in a clear and accessible manner. Osborne begins with a thorough introduction to Revelation and the many difficulties involved in its interpretation. He discusses authorship, date of writing, and the social and cultural setting of the work. He also examines elements that complicate the interpretation of apocalyptic literature, including the use of symbols and figures of speech, Old Testament allusions, and the role of prophetic prediction. Osborne surveys various approaches commentators have taken on whether Revelation refers primarily to the past or to events that are yet future. Rather than exegeting the text narrowly in a verse-by-verse manner, Osborne examines larger sections in order to locate and emphasize the writer's central message and the theology found therein. Throughout, he presents his conclusions in an accessible manner. When dealing with particularly problematic sections, he considers the full range of suggested interpretations and introduces the reader to a broad spectrum of commentators. Revelation seeks to reach a broad audience with scholarly research from a decidedly evangelical perspective.

Virtually all attention these days is focused on the coming Antichrist—but he is only half the story. Many people are amazed to discover in Revelation 17 that there is also another mysterious character at the heart of prophecy—a woman who rides the beast. Who is this woman? Tradition says she is connected with the church of Rome. But isn’t such a view outdated? After all, today’s Vatican is eager to join hands with Protestants worldwide. “The Catholic church has changed” is what we hear. Or has it? In A Woman Rides the Beast, prophecy expert Dave Hunt sifts through biblical truth and global events to present a well-defined portrait of the woman and her powerful place in the Antichrist’s future empire. Eight remarkable clues in Revelation 17 and 18 prove the woman’s identity beyond any reasonable doubt. A provocative account of what the Bible tells us is to come.

A vengeful Persian tyrant prepares the final blow that will annihilate the Byzantine Empire. Aelric of England - now the Lord Senator Alaric - is almost as powerful as the Emperor. Seemingly without opposition, he dominates the vast and morally bankrupt city of Constantinople. Aelric faces his greatest challenge yet with danger of all frontiers. His domestic enemies are waiting for their moment to strike back and the world's most terrifying military machine is assembling in secret beyond the mountains of the eastern frontiers.
