On her four-day road trip to Las Vegas, she encounters three unexpected allies—Vivian, a teenager with newborn twins; Lynn, a dog shelter owner living in isolation on a ranch in rural Nevada; and Dana, a fearless ex-military bodyguard wrestling with secrets of her own. As their fates collide, each woman will find a chance at redemption that she never would have thought possible. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A compact, feminist self-help manual . . . A rallying cry for women who are tired of carrying the world on their shoulders” (Kirkus Reviews). Are you the one who saves the day at work? Does your family expect you to do it all when you get home? Perhaps you used to like being thought of as reliable, but you long for a life of your own again—one with fewer emergency circumstances and people who need lots of “help.” It isn’t just you. Many women have been socialized to quietly pick up the slack and not complain—this is a setup for isolation, second guessing, and waiting for rewards that never come. This is what Sasha Mobley calls The Strong Woman Trap. We are playing too hard at a rigged game that we didn’t create. We spend our energies managing demands and treat our own emotions and needs as irrelevant. Sasha provides a hard look at the cultural beliefs that set strong, driven, ambitious women up for a life spent constantly saving others from themselves, filling in gaps, and going it alone like a hybrid of Wonder Woman and Working Girl. The Strong Woman Trap is the book is for women who spend their spare moments looking wistfully through magazines telling themselves their dreams are just one more personal sacrifice away. Wishes won’t get you there. Neither will doubling down on old strategies. What will get you there is learning the secrets to escaping The Strong Woman Trap.

He thinks I don't know what he does outside of this house. But I know everything... Karla watches silently as Jason hurriedly packs his belongings into a suitcase. She knows that her stillness is unnerving him as she watches his every move from the doorway of their bedroom. Clothes are screwed up and packed into the case, along with a watch she bought him for his last birthday and his precious laptop. He takes everything from his bedside table. Everything except the framed wedding photo, which now stands alone. Karla strains to see the smiling faces in the photo. If only she knew then what she knows now. 'I've fallen in love with someone else, ' he'd said to her, just moments earlier. The brutality of those words hit Karla hard and she struggled to breathe as she took in each word in turn. You may think you know what Karla will do next. But you'll be wrong. Because Karla isn't who you think she is. Only she knows what's about to happen. And you will never see it coming. He explains: - The defences that stop us getting hurt but also serve as barriers to potential new relationships - How like attracts like, and how to work on balancing yourself to bring similarly balanced people into your life - New ways to search for a partner that encourage an open mind and more fulfilling emotional connections - How to tell if you and your new man or woman have the makings of a successful long-term partnership Marshall has spent nearly twenty-five years helping people untangle their love lives, communicate better and find true happiness. In this practical and thought-provoking book, he combines the latest research into relationships with years of counselling experience to design a programme that works.

Book excerpt: Structural analysis of Australian hunter-gatherer societies and a critical assessment of Northern Algonkian literature suggested to the authors the possibility that the social organization of the Cree may have been premised on something other than the nuclear family and institution of cross-cousin marriage. Indeed, data collected from Shamattawa, a Swampy Cree community in northern Manitoba, indicates that the social structure operates on four distinct, yet productively undifferentiated, levels reflected both in relationship terms and ideology. This resulted in a revised model of band society.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Understanding our role in marriage is essential to our happiness in marriage.” Many times we as wives are so ambitious to scale to the height of the universe and accomplish mighty feats that we fail to realize our greatest achievements will come in simple obedience to our Lord’s words. In marriage, this starts with an understanding of our role. This role does not come naturally for women as some claim. The Lord says it must be taught (Titus 2:3-5). Could it be that simple lack of understanding concerning the role of the wife is a significant factor in the divorce rate? I think so. In The Biblical Role of the Wife, I will share with you some of my own mistakes and what I learned about my role as a wife. Ignorance is certainly not bliss. When I got married, I thought I knew my role. I was wrong! I only knew what I saw demonstrated around me and assumed that this was how I also must behave. It never occurred to me that some of the fighting and upheaval I was experiencing in my marriage, such as feeling torn between my husband and my family, was simply a direct result of my lack of understanding concerning my role. Needless to say, I began to learn that there was a better way—God’s way. As I learned God’s way, I was quite surprised when I noticed how much more peace and happiness I experienced because I started putting into practice the truths that I am about to share with you.
