Dr. Rawls distills decades of research into a blueprint of proven, cost-effective natural solutions that can dramatically enhance your overall vitality and resilience.” — MARK HYMAN, MD, Fourteen-time #1 New York Times Bestselling Author ”The Cellular Wellness Solution is poised to ignite a much-needed and insightful new dialogue surrounding the healing power of herbs.” — DR. JOSH AXE, DNM, DC, CNS, author of Ancient Remedies for Modern Life “Dr. Bill Rawls has integrated multiple fields of scientific research into an accessible guide—with a focus we have not encountered elsewhere. We are confident that you will find The Cellular Wellness Solution a most valuable addition to your health library.” — JOE & TERRY GRAEDON, Hosts of The People’s Pharmacy on NPR "Caring for your cells is essential for preserving and maintaining health, and The Cellular Wellness Solution offers a unique and comprehensive approach to keeping our cells in optimal shape. Dr. Rawls' book arrives at the exact right time, as the groundswell of scientific knowledge is all pointing in one direction: to take control of our health, we need to maintain the health of our cells for as long as we can, and using multiple methods of doing so is essential." — DR. WILL COLE, IFMCP, DNM, DC, author of Ketotarian, The Inflammation Spectrum, and Intuitive Fasting "With compassion and authority, Dr. Bill Rawls delivers a bold look at the modern medical system–– where it shines, but also where it falls short––and why we can’t rely on it to truly make us well. In this comprehensive guide, Dr. Rawls teaches us how to be smarter about our use of antibiotics and pharmaceuticals, while expanding our wellness toolbox to include herbs and other non-toxic solutions. If you are ready to change your life and get to the root of chronic health problems, this book will reveal a doorway to a new path forward." — ADRIENNE NOLAN-SMITH, patient advocate and founder of WellBe “The Cellular Wellness Solution lays out, with clarity and persuasive power, the health benefits of herbs, herbal supplements, and the “powerhouse” properties of phytochemicals that, due to contemporary food processing that emphasizes the production of calories over all else, tend to be lacking in American diets. The book finds [Dr. Rawls] guiding readers through his discovery, with a doctor’s eye for the science—and the practical results. Rawls proves an appealing guide, laying out the facts with clarity and, for all this lengthy guide’s thoroughness, a welcome sense of the bottom line: what readers want to know to improve their own health.” — BOOKLIFE REVIEWS by Publishers Weekly

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Restoring the use of wild plants in daily life for vibrant physical, mental, and spiritual health • Explains how 3 classes of wild plants--aromatics, bitters, and tonics--are uniquely adapted to work with our physiology because we coevolved with them • Provides simple recipes to easily integrate these plants into meals as well as formulas for teas, spirits, and tinctures • Offers practical examples of plants in each of the 3 classes, from aromatic peppermint to bitter dandelion to tonic chocolate As people moved into cities and suburbs and embraced modern medicine and industrialized food, they lost their connection to nature, in particular to the plants with which humanity coevolved. These plants are essential components of our physiologies--tangible reminders of cross-kingdom signaling--and key not only to vibrant physical health and prevention of illness but also to soothing and awakening the troubled spirit. Blending traditional herbal medicine with history, mythology, clinical practice, and recent findings in physiology and biochemistry, herbalist Guido Masé explores the three classes of plants necessary for the healthy functioning of our bodies and minds--aromatics, bitters, and tonics. He explains how bitter plants ignite digestion, balance blood sugar, buffer toxicity, and improve metabolism; how tonic plants normalize the functions of our cells and nourish the immune system; and how aromatic plants relax tense organs, nerves, and muscles and stimulate sluggish systems, whether physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual. He reveals how wild plants regulate our heart variability rate and adjust the way DNA is read by our cells, controlling the self-destructive tendencies that lead to chronic inflammation or cancer. Offering examples of ancient and modern uses of wild plants in each of the 3 classes--from aromatic peppermint to bitter dandelion to tonic chocolate--Masé provides easy recipes to integrate them into meals as seasonings and as central ingredients in soups, stocks, salads, and grain dishes as well as including formulas for teas, spirits, and tinctures. Providing a framework for safe and effective use as well as new insights to enrich the practice of advanced herbalists, he shows how healing “wild plant deficiency syndrome”--that is, adding wild plants back into our diets--is vital not only to our health but also to our spiritual development.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The evidence is undeniable. By any measure, the US spends more on healthcare than any other country in the world, yet its health outcomes as measure by longevity are in the bottom half among developed countries, and its health-related quality of life has remained constant or declined since 1998. In addition to high costs and lower than expected outcomes, the healthcare delivery system is plagues by treatment delays as it can take weeks to see a specialist, and many people have limited or no access to care. Part of the challenge is that the healthcare delivery system is a large, complex, and sophisticated value creation chain. Successfully changing this highly interconnected system is difficult and time consuming because the underlying problems are hard to comprehend, the root causes are many, the solution is unclear, and the relationships among problems, causes, and solution are multifaceted. To address these issues, the book carefully explains the underlying problems, examines their root causes using information, data, and logic, and presents a comprehensive and integrated solution that addresses these causes. These three steps are the methodological backbone of this book. A solution depends on understanding and applying the principles of patient-centered care (PCC) and resource management. PCC puts patients, supported by their primary care physicians, back in the role as decision makers and depends on patients being responsible for their health including making good life-style choices. After all, the best way to reduce healthcare costs and increase quality of life is to improve our health and wellness and as a result need less care. In addition, health insurance must be rethought and redesigned so it is less likely to lead to overuse. For many people with health insurance, the out-of-pocket cost of healthcare are small, so healthcare decision making is often biased toward consumption. Effective resource management means that healthcare providers must do a better job of acquiring and using resources in order to provide care quickly, productively, and correctly. This means improving healthcare strategy and management, accelerating the use of information technology, making drug costs affordable and fair, reducing the incidence of malpractice, and rebuilding the provider network. In addition, implementation is difficult because there are many participants in the healthcare delivery value chain, such as physicians, nurses, and medical technicians, as well as many provider organizations, such as hospitals, clinics, physician offices, and labs. Further up the value chain there are pharmaceutical companies, equipment providers, and other suppliers. These participants have diverse and sometimes conflicting goals, but each must be willing to accept change and work in a coordinated manner to improve healthcare. To overcome these problems, strong national leadership is needed to get the attention and support from the people and organizations involved in healthcare and to make the comprehensive changes that will lower healthcare costs, improve healthcare quality, eliminate delays, increase access, and enhance patient satisfaction.

Return to practicing medicine the way you always dreamt it could be. The United States spends the most health-care dollars per person in the world. Yet we are a sick, fat, and tired nation. Both patients and health-care providers are dissatisfied with our health-care system. We have a diseased management system masquerading as a health-care system. This system is broken! Integrative medicine is a solution to heal our broken system. The Integrative Medicine Solution is a practical guidebook for physician assistants, supervising physicians, nurse practitioners, and other health-care providers who want to transition from treating symptoms to the root causes. Patients are healthier, happier, and less dependent on drugs. Providers are rewarded for spending more time with their patients. It will restore balance and joy in your practice and life. This book is a great introduction and practical guide for PAs or any other health-care providers who are wanting to start their own integrative practice.
