Book excerpt: This is a light heated look into the village life of Eastleigh a small community situated about ten miles outside the fictional town of Abberford, and follows Marian Gadd's exploits as she attempts to get the graveyard at St Cuthbert's cleaned up.Many of you may think that you recognize some of the characters but I can assure, you that they are all fictional. You may of course think that you recognize yourself, but I guarantee that you were not the model on which any of the characters was based...at least I hope not.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ELECTRE and Decision Support focuses on the areas of engineering and infrastructure investment. It begins with some general comments about the different decision components within the project planning process - the definition of objectives, the identification of alternative courses of action, the establishing of criteria, the evaluation of alternatives and the final recommendation. The authors highlight the ability of Multicriteria Decision Aid to reconcile the economic, technical and environmental dimensions of the projects for its planners. They emphasize the complexity of this process, illustrating the importance of identifying the stakeholders within it, as they greatly influence the definition of the decision criteria. A brief case study illustrates these different aspects. Following a comparison of Cost Benefit Analysis and Multicriteria Decision Aid, the introductory chapter sets out the structure of the book, with four subsequent chapters devoted to the methodology of ELECTRE and three outlining case studies involving different versions of ELECTRE. The chapters concentrating on the ELECTRE methodology first give an overview of the main MCDA methods before presenting the ELECTRE method in detail. Each chapter answers the following questions: (1) In what context should the ELECTRE methods be chosen? (2) Which version of the methods is most appropriate to apply to a given problem? Another chapter deals with a critical and delicate problem within MCDA - how to adequately assess the role played by each criterion in a given decision problem, and how this translates into an appropriate weighting for it. Each one covers a different civil engineering discipline and each uses a different version of ELECTRE. The final chapter on methodology presents some accessories which, when used with ELECTRE, can greatly enhance its usefulness in practice. This book is outstanding in many respects. I am convinced that the simple, clear and concise style of the authors will make this book accessible to very many readers. No important aspect of the subject is neglected, and the concise nature of this book does not hinder its originality. Last but not least, the manner in which the case studies are described allows the authors not only to demonstrate the validity of the approach and procedures presented, but also to help the reader understand how to apply them in an effective manner. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Progress in the theory of economic equilibria and in game theory has proceeded hand in hand with that of the mathematical tools used in the field, namely nonlinear analysis and, in particular, convex analysis. Jean-Pierre Aubin, one of the leading specialists in nonlinear analysis and its application to economics, has written a rigorous and concise - yet still elementary and self-contained - textbook providing the mathematical tools needed to study optima and equilibria, as solutions to problems, arising in economics, management sciences, operations research, cooperative and non-cooperative games, fuzzy games etc. It begins with the foundations of optimization theory, and mathematical programming, and in particular convex and nonsmooth analysis. Nonlinear analysis is then presented, first game-theoretically, then in the framework of set valued analysis. These results are then applied to the main classes of economic equilibria. The book contains numerous exercises and problems: the latter allow the reader to venture into areas of nonlinear analysis that lie beyond the scope of the book and of most graduate courses.

Most weight difficulties are the result of an emotional or mental issue that affects the mind, which in turn alters eating habits and the body itself for the worse. By learning to harness the strength of their own inner power, people with weight concerns will discover how to effectively deal with and remove these issues. Correcting the mind will result in steady, lasting weight loss, a healthier physique, and improved self-esteem.

They are divided into four sections. They range from sad to thought provoking prose. I think that you can read some of these and find a kindship with some of them at different times of your life.

The 29 revised full papers presented were carefully selected and reviewed from 78 submissions. The papers are solicited describing original results on all aspects of graph-theoretic concepts in Computer Science, e.g. structural graph theory, sequential, parallel, randomized, parameterized, and distributed graph and network algorithms and their complexity, graph grammars and graph rewriting systems, graph-based modeling, graph-drawing and layout, random graphs, diagram methods, and support of these concepts by suitable implementations. The scope of WG includes all applications of graph-theoretic concepts in Computer Science, including data structures, data bases, programming languages, computational geometry, tools for software construction, communications, computing on the web, models of the web and scale-free networks, mobile computing, concurrency, computer architectures, VLSI, artificial intelligence, graphics, CAD, operations research, and pattern recognition

Book excerpt: This is the true story of my life, my auto biography. The events all happened. Only the names of some of the participants have been changed. The story may well be biased, but it is how I remember it and if in the telling, I have done injustice to anyone then I am sorry. If I come across as conceited, shallow, or too clever for my own good, or without conscience I put my hand up and say so be it. It was truly a good life and I am grateful to all those I met on my life's long journey. Particularly my wife and my family without who's support, even when I let them down, has sustained me at all times.
