Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Trial of Jesus, Vol. 2: From a Lawyer's Standpoint Sufficient was said concerning the entire work in the preface to volume one to warrant a very brief preface to volume two. The reader will notice that the plan of treatment of the Roman trial of Jesus is radically different from that employed in the Hebrew trial. There is no Record of Fact in the second volume, for the reason that the Record of Fact dealt with in the first volume is common to the two trials. Again, there is no Brief of the Roman trial and no systematic and exhaustive treatment of Roman criminal law in the second volume, corresponding with such a treatment of the Hebrew trial, under Hebrew criminal law, in the first volume. This is explained by the fact that the Sanhedrin found Jesus guilty, while both Pilate and Herod found Him not guilty. A proper consideration then of the Hebrew trial became a matter of review on appeal, requiring a Brief, containing a complete statement of facts, an ample exposition of law, and sufficient argument to show the existence of error in the judgment. The nature of the verdicts pronounced by Pilate and by Herod rendered these things unnecessary in dealing with the Roman trial. This book was released on 2023-12-13 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Walter M. Chandler's 'The Trial of Jesus from a Lawyer's Standpoint (Vol. 1&2)' delves into the legal aspects of the trial of Jesus Christ from a unique perspective. Through meticulous analysis, Chandler explores the trial proceedings, the biases of the Roman and Jewish authorities, and the implications of the verdict. Written in a scholarly yet accessible style, the book provides a comprehensive understanding of the trial's significance in both legal and historical contexts. Chandler's attention to detail and thorough research make this work an invaluable resource for scholars of law, religion, and history. Walter M. Chandler, a lawyer and former United States Congressman, brings his legal expertise to the forefront in 'The Trial of Jesus from a Lawyer's Standpoint.' His background in law and politics gives him a nuanced understanding of the complexities of legal proceedings, allowing readers to gain insights into the intricacies of the trial of Jesus. Chandler's passion for justice and his analytical approach shine through in this thought-provoking work. I highly recommend 'The Trial of Jesus from a Lawyer's Standpoint (Vol. 1&2)' to anyone interested in delving deeper into the legal aspects of Jesus' trial. Chandler's thorough examination and insightful analysis make this book a must-read for those seeking a deeper understanding of one of history's most pivotal trials.

These selected paragraphs distill the contents and give you a quick look inside The Trial of Jesus from a Lawyer's Standpoint, Vol. I (of II) - The Hebrew Trial: Look inside the book: And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him: No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him. ...These copies of the Holy Scriptures having thus been in familiar use in the churches from the time when the text was committed to writing; having been watched with vigilance by so many sects, opposed to each other in doctrine, yet all appealing to these Scriptures for the correctness of their faith; and having in all ages, down to this day, been respected as the authoritative source of all ecclesiastical power and government, 9and submitted to, and acted under in regard to so many claims of right, on the one hand, and so many obligations of duty, on the other; it is quite erroneous to suppose that the Christian is bound to offer any further proof of their genuineness or authenticity.
