Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kingdom through Covenant is a careful exposition of how the biblical covenants unfold and relate to one another—a widely debated topic, critical for understanding the narrative plot structure of the whole Bible. By incorporating the latest available research from the ancient Near East and examining implications of their work for Christology, ecclesiology, eschatology, and hermeneutics, scholars Peter J. Gentry and Stephen J. Wellum present a thoughtful and viable alternative to both covenant theology and dispensationalism. This second edition features updated and revised content, clarifying key material and integrating the latest findings into the discussion.

Book Synopsis Israel, the Church, and Millenarianism by : Steven D. Aguzzi
Download or read book Israel, the Church, and Millenarianism written by Steven D. Aguzzi and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-28 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the calls of the Second Vatican Council, Roman Catholic theologians have sought to overcome an overarching problem facing Jewish–Christian relations, the concept of "supersessionism"; the idea that God has revoked the spiritual and historical promises made to the Jewish people in favour of granting those same privileges to a predominantly Gentile Church. Israel, the Church, and Millenarianism breaks new ground by applying an ancient principle to the problem of Israel’s "replacement": the early Church’s promotion of millennialism. Utilizing the best in Patristic research, Aguzzi argues that these earliest Christian traditions made room for the future of Israel because Christ’s reign in the Church was viewed as provisional to his historical reign on earth—Israel’s role in salvation history was and is not yet complete. Aguzzi’s research also opens the door for a greater Catholic understanding of the millennial principle, not shying away from its validity and relevance for understanding the importance of safeguarding Jewish particularity, while concluding that the Synagogue and the Church are indeed on a parallel trajectory; "...what will their...[Israel’s]...acceptance be but life from the dead?" (Romans 11:15). Ultimately, the divine will is fulfilled through both Christian and Jewish means, in history, while each community is dependent, in different ways, upon the unfolding of God’s future and the coming Parousia of Christ.

Download or read book The Gospels written by Norman W Mathers and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2021-05-24 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The gospels have been largely misunderstood and misinterpreted. Misinterpretations, widely the case, lead to erroneous conclusions. These flawed misconceptions of the Gospels lead as well to mistaken understandings of the book of Acts and the New Testament epistles. The Gospels the Historical Foundation was written to correct contemporary confusion abroad both in our land and world. Norman W. Mathers, Ph.D. We all love the first four books of the New Testament, but few really understand their structure or significance. Why are there four Gospel accounts of the life of Jesus? Why are the first three so similar? What is each Gospel writer trying to accomplish? And how are we to understand the different themes that weave their way through the four books? Finding answers to questions like these help us navigate our way through the Gospels. In this book, Dr. Norm Mathers serves as the quintessential guide who will lead you on a journey of discovery and help you understand the overarching themes and unique details each writer presents about the life and teaching of Jesus!
