Since 1997 a joint mission of the Egypt Exploration Society and the University of Durham has been surveying and investigating this important site. This first volume, by the Field Director, Dr Penelope Wilson of the University of Durham, includes descriptions of Sis by early travellers and writers, and accounts of early excavations, followed by the results of the surveys carried out by various means including geomagnetic and drill augur surveys. A chapter on 'The Archaeology of Sis' gives the author's interpretations of the evidence, and there are lists of objects from the site, now in storage magazines or museums.
