The acting time of each play is about forty-five minutes. Eight rehearsals to a play is the average. The simpler the setting, in general, the better! Indoor scenes a plain brown burlap has been found the best for a peasant setting; for kingly scenes have a handsome curtain at the back, a dais and a throne. For out-of-door scenes hang a deep blue curtain; against this, if desired, place real palm, box or bay trees, or have the conventional shapes cut out of wood and painted a Noah's ark green.
