The book covers all the rules of grammar and morphology that students require for elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels of Arabic. As a compact guide, it is an ideal auxiliary, no matter what textbook the student is using. Book Synopsis The Standard Book of Noun-verb Exhibition Grammar by : Niekolaas Johannes Lekkerkerk
Download or read book The Standard Book of Noun-verb Exhibition Grammar written by Niekolaas Johannes Lekkerkerk and published by . This book was released on 2018-03-25 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Standard Book of Noun-Verb Exhibition Grammar is a partial compendium of the different modes of being that inhabit exhibitions. These different modes of being, often placed outside the realm of art objects proper, are described and activated here as crucial players in the world of contemporary art. Maximizing a poetic resourcefulness, this book proposes the exhibition as an ecology full of things that are infinitely more dimensional than their ascribed functionality would lead us to believe, and creates a space where species meet, where ontological and epistemological registers clash, overlap, and contaminate each other, where the living and inert, organic and inorganic exchange properties, qualities, and performances. Ultimately this book aims to show that what revolves around, within, and beyond any given system resolves to be just as serious and important as what that system aims to convey. The exhibition and catalog are curated by The Office for Curating, a generic name for a curatorial practice and an agency, established in 2012 by niekolaas Johannes Lekkerkerk, working in Rotterdam.

Book Synopsis Standards and Norms in the English Language by : Miriam A. Locher
Download or read book Standards and Norms in the English Language written by Miriam A. Locher and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2008-08-27 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theme of this collection is a discussion of the notions of 'norms' and 'standards', which are studied from various different angles, but always in relation to the English language. These terms are to be understood in a very wide sense, allowing discussions of topics such as the norms we orient to in social interaction, the benchmark employed in teaching, or the development of English dialects and varieties over time and space and their relation to the standard language. The collection is organized into three parts, each of which covers an important research field for the study of norms and standards. Part 1 is entitled "English over time and space" and is further divided into three thematic subgroups: standard and non-standard features in English varieties and dialects; research on English standardization processes; and issues of standards and norms in oral production. Part 2 deals with "English usage in non-native contexts," and Part 3 is dedicated to "Issues on politeness and impoliteness." The notions of standards and norms are equally important concepts for historical linguists, sociolinguists with a variationist background, applied linguists, pragmaticians, and discourse analysts.

Book Synopsis STANDARD ENGLISH GRAMMAR by : K. K. Singh
Download or read book STANDARD ENGLISH GRAMMAR written by K. K. Singh and published by K.K. Publications. This book was released on 2022-03-15 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on English Grammar in its own right. Most chapters of this grammar book include mention of differences between spoken and written grammar and aspects of context that affect choices of grammar. Those chapters give more detailed examples of items and structures described in this book. It is difficult fully to represent spoken grammar in a written book. Although the corpus used as the source of examples in this book provides useful evidence of spoken usage, the corpus has not been systematically coded for phonetic and prosodic features. Variations in stress, intonation contour, voice quality and other aspects such as loudness and tempo, rhythm and length of pauses are not indicated. And the citations from the corpus are presented in written form so that there always remains an underlying bias towards writing in the transcription itself. This bias towards written language also means that appropriate terms for describing special features of spoken grammar are not always available in existing grammatical frameworks. In some cases new terminology has to be introduced.
