Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Help Overcoming Painful Experiences (H.O.P.E.) is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to help people experience a life transformation through their emotional pain so they can live the purpose-filled, victorious life God intended and designed them to live. We set people free from emotional bondage and empower them to live a transformed life. To accomplish our purpose, the H.O.P.E. program was designed to help people 1) resurrect hope, 2) overcome emotional pain from a variety of issues, 3) build a safe and healthy support network, 4) comprehend the truths about God in the midst of pain while exposing and replacing lies, and 5) experience a life transformation through the healing and restorative power of Jesus Christ. Our transformation model consists of three levels. The Spiritual & Emotional Coach's Guide is used in Level 2 when we pair our members with a Spiritual and Emotional Coach (SPEC). SPECs allow us to extend our ministry by providing additional support for our members through a one-on-one mentoring relationship outside their small group. The analogy used for our member's need of a SPEC is that of a contractor who can help them with their emotional and spiritual construction . Our members need a contractor (SPEC) who follows the plan of the Architect (Jesus Christ) in their life and who can help them rebuild by doing the same thing. Our members need a contractor (SPEC) who can coach them using their own experiences with the spiritual and emotional rebuilding process. Therefore, this book was designed to empower and equip our SPECs by helping them realize and tap into the knowledge and tools available to them in this role. This book also contains a topical Scripture reference guide for convenient access to verses that can be applied to a variety of issues. In addition, this book was designed to help familiarize SPECs with our organization and what their member is going through.

Book excerpt: What if being angry isn't your problem? No matter who you are, or where you are in your life, there was a time when you've had a run-in with our darkest emotion. Anger is universal. As uncomfortable as it is, feeling anger isn't the problem; it's what we fail to learn from it that is. Sacred Anger is a journey with the feeling that most of us avoid whenever possible. It is an excavation of the sources, and experiences of anger, and our relationship to it. Seryna Myers guides you through her process that deepens your understanding of how you really feel, extracts the lessons from it, and then gives you the tools to let it go. You'll learn: How to identify how and why you feel the way you do. How to understand anger (and other uncomfortable emotions) and what they're here to teach. How to work with and learn from anger to support your life's journey. Seryna's fresh take on such a heavy topic makes the exploration of anger something that feels light and good for the soul. Her storytelling makes these conversations about anger feel like they're happening with a trusted friend. Sacred Anger takes a grounded approach to this work, examining every facet of this emotion, making your anger one of the most valuable tools in your spiritual and emotional arsenal.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about psychospiritual development from a Traditional Afrikan perspective. It is about the process of spiritual actualization, fulfilling one's destiny, and rising to the standard of healthy maturation in the culture. With an emphasis on character, communalism, and accountability, I also explore the criteria for qualified spiritual coaches who can support one's growth in that regard. The Afrikana worldview creates the context for this guide to knowledge of self, illuminating one's soul, and contributing meaningfully to the Pan-Afrikan community. The impact of the maafa, and the importance of spiritual sovereignty are also addressed in this text. I also demonstrate the connection between the ancient Kemetic discipline of Sakhusheti (soul science), the contemporary field of Afrikana Psychology, and the healing profession of Afrikana Spiritual Coaching. This book is for those who are seeking the support of a spiritual coach and for those who serve as spiritual coaches. It is also for those who are aspiring to be the best version of themselves as clients, coaches, or culturally competent therapists and healers. Herein, I demonstrate the connection and differentiate the dimensions between spiritual coaching and mental health practice.

Book excerpt: In this inspirational yet practical book, the man Parade called “the most important coach in America,” subject of the national bestseller Season of Life, Joe Ehrmann, describes his coaching philosophy and explains how sports can transform lives at every level of play, from the earliest years to professional sports. Coaches have a tremendous platform, says Joe Ehrmann, a former Syracuse University All-American and NFL star. Perhaps second only to parents, coaches can impact young people as no one else can. But most coaches fail to do the teaching, mentoring, even life-saving intervention that their platform provides. Too many are transactional coaches; they focus solely on winning and meeting their personal needs. Some coaches, however, use their platform. They teach the Xs and Os, but also teach the Ys of life. They help young people grow into responsible adults; they leave a lasting legacy. These are the transformational coaches. These coaches change lives, and they also change society by helping to develop healthy men and women. InSideOut Coaching explains how to become a transformational coach. Coaches first have to “go inside” and articulate their reasons for coaching. Only those who have taken the InSideOut journey can become transformational. Joe Ehrmann provides examples of coaches in his life who took this journey and taught him how to find something bigger than himself in sports. He describes his own InSideOut experience, starting with the death of his beloved brother, which helped him understand how sports could transcend the playing field. He gives coaches the information and the tools they need to become transformational. Joe Ehrmann has taken his message about the extraordinary power of sports all over the country. It has been warmly endorsed by NFL head coaches, athletic directors at major universities, high school head coaches, even business groups and community organizations. Now any parent-coach or school or community coach can read Ehrmann’s message and learn how to make sports a life-changing experience.

Book excerpt: Liberate yourself from the limitations and judgments imposed by your inner critic, and develop “soul qualities” to experience freedom and vitality Whether we call it the inner critic or the superego, most of us have a judge within who nags us and is constantly on our case. Byron Brown provides a comprehensive guide to understanding how the inner critic works as well as practical, positive suggestions for breaking free of it. Using straightforward language and everyday examples, you’ll explore: • Where the inner judge came from • How it operates • Why it trips us up • Why we believe we need it • How to develop awareness of it • How to disengage from it • The "soul qualities" we can develop to weaken its influence Each chapter begins with an episode of the story of Frank and Sue to illustrate the insidious nature of the inner critic inside all of us. A simple exercise is also included at the end of each chapter, designed to help readers move along the path of self-discovery.
