Book Synopsis Observations Upon the Prophecies of Daniel by : Isaac Newton, Sir
Download or read book Observations Upon the Prophecies of Daniel written by Isaac Newton, Sir and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2015-05-17 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Isaac Newton (25 December 1642 - 20 March 1727) was, as considered by others within his own lifetime, an insightful and erudite theologian. He wrote many works that would now be classified as occult studies and religious tracts dealing with the literal interpretation of the Bible. Newton's conception of the physical world provided a stable model of the natural world that would reinforce stability and harmony in the civic world. Newton saw a monotheistic God as the masterful creator whose existence could not be denied in the face of the grandeur of all creation. Although born into an Anglican family, by his thirties Newton held a Christian faith that, had it been made public, would not have been considered orthodox by mainstream Christianity; in recent times he has been described as a heretic. Newton relied upon the existing Scripture for prophecy, believing his interpretations would set the record straight in the face of what he considered to be, "so little understood." Though he would never write a cohesive body of work on Prophecy, Newton's beliefs would lead him to write several treatises on the subject, including an unpublished guide for prophetic interpretation entitled Rules for interpreting the words & language in Scripture. In this manuscript he details the necessary requirements for what he considered to be the proper interpretation of the Bible.

Book Synopsis The Superstitious Muse by : David M. Bethea
Download or read book The Superstitious Muse written by David M. Bethea and published by Studies in Russian and Slavic. This book was released on 2009 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For several decades David Bethea has written authoritatively on the “mythopoetic thinking” that lies at the heart of classical Russian literature, especially Russian poetry. His theoretically informed essays and books have made a point of turning back to issues of intentionality and biography at a time when authorial agency seems under threat of erasure and the question of how writers, and poets in particular, live their lives through their art is increasingly moot. Pushkin's Evgeny can be one incarnation of the poet himself and an everyman rising up to challenge Peter's new world order; Brodsky can be, all at once, Dante and Mandelstam and himself, the exile paying an Orphic visit to Florence (and, by ghostly association, Leningrad). This collection contains a liberal sampling of Bethea's most memorable previously published essays along with new studies.
