A must read for all Gold Investors and those interested in the Global Financial Markets. The beauty of Avery is that he has explained all the concepts that go into the 'price management' of Gold, neatly wrapped in a thriller so as to keep the audience riveted." Pavan Mullapudy - Verified Purchase (Kindle Edition) Amazon.in | Dec. 9, 2016 ***** "Exciting and appealing novel, Ludla&mgrave;s style (the author should take this as a huge compliment)... Almost felt ashamed being a banker myself. The author appears to be very well informed of or acquainted with various banking and brokerage activities, both bona and mala fides, as well as with (anti) money laundering operations and regulations. That provides a special touch of genuineness to this story..." Gordana Aleksic | Sep.27, 2016 **** "This is a good story, mostly well written. No doubt there is more than a grain of truth in the way the 'Great and the good' behave with total ruthlessness. Keeping stacking - if you don't know what that means then you should read this book." Unknown Customer - Verified Purchase (Print Edition) Amazon.co.uk |April 30, 2016 | ***** "...It is not everyday that you find a book like that which is exceptionally well written, moves fast, and grips your attention... I had a hard time putting it down... The forward to the novel includes a detailed summary of all the real-world facts that inspired the author to write it." Marla Merlow | Goodreads.com | May 20, 2016 | ***** "This was a good book. Well written and thoughtful. Good balance of action vs.characterization. Characters are deeper than you will find in most thrillers. Educational. Is it fiction or a true story? This I do not know. But, I do know that this is a book worth reading..."Jackie Martin | Aug 16, 2016 | Goodreads.com *****

Book Synopsis Sea la Luz by : Juan Francisco Martínez

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Mexican Protestantism was born in the encounter between Mexican Catholics and Anglo American Protestants, after the United States ventured into the Southwest and wrested territory from Mexico in the early nineteenth century. In Sea la Luz, Juan Francisco Martinez traces the birth and initial development of this ethno-religious community brought through the westward expansion of the United States. Using the records of Protestant missionaries, he uncovers the story of Mexican converts and the churches they developed. Those same records reveal Protestant attitudes toward the war with Mexico, the conquest of the Southwest, and the Mexican population that became U.S. citizens with the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo (1848)."--BOOK JACKET.
Book Synopsis Colorado's Healthcare Heritage by : Thomas J. Sherlock
Download or read book Colorado's Healthcare Heritage written by Thomas J. Sherlock and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2013 with total page 643 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the early days on the Colorado frontier, women took care of family and neighbors because accepting that "we're all in this together" was the only realistic survival strategy-on the high plains, along the Front Range, in the mountain towns, and on the Western Slope. As dangerous occupations became fundamental to Colorado's economy, if they were injured or got sick there was no one to care for the young men who worked as miners, steel workers, cowboys, and railroad construction workers in remote parts of Colorado. So physicians, surgeons, nurses, Catholic Sisters, Reform and Orthodox Jews, Protestants, and other humanitarians established hospitals and-when Colorado became a mecca for people with tuberculosis-sanatoriums. Those pioneers and the communities they served created our community-based humanitarian healthcare tradition. These stories about our Wild West heritage honor the legacy of our 19th-century healthcare pioneers and will inspire and entertain 21st-century readers. Because we can be inspired only if we understand the facts-and because facts are more likely to be understood when presented in context-this chronology includes national and international developments that establish an indispensable frame of reference for understanding how our pioneers created the local-community-based healthcare system that we've inherited.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the mid 19th century many Germans migrated to the Midwestern United States. Many of them were influenced by the Reformation as well as the theology of John Calvin. When many of them settled in Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota, Adrian Van Vliet, a minister of First Presbyterian Church in Dubuque, Iowa made it his mission to train ministers for these new immigrants. Out of this effort came the University of Dubuque and the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary. A second result was the banding together of 85 churches who formed the German speaking Synod of the West under the authority of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA). For nearly 47 years these churches reached out to the new immigrants and acted as an agent of change to not only evangelize them but also to introduce them into the American way of life and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) This is the story of that 47 year journey, from 1912 1959. Layout and Photographs by Jean E. Straatmeyer

Book Synopsis Railroading Religion by : David Walker
Download or read book Railroading Religion written by David Walker and published by UNC Press Books. This book was released on 2019-08-13 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Railroads, tourism, and government bureaucracy combined to create modern religion in the American West, argues David Walker in this innovative study of Mormonism's ascendency in the railroad era. The center of his story is Corinne, Utah—an end-of-the-track, hell-on-wheels railroad town founded by anti-Mormon businessmen. In the disputes over this town's frontier survival, Walker discovers intense efforts by a variety of theological, political, and economic interest groups to challenge or secure Mormonism's standing in the West. Though Corinne's founders hoped to leverage industrial capital to overthrow Mormon theocracy, the town became the site of a very different dream. Economic and political victory in the West required the production of knowledge about different religious groups settling in its lands. As ordinary Americans advanced their own theories about Mormondom, they contributed to the rise of religion itself as a category of popular and scholarly imagination. At the same time, new and advantageous railroad-related alliances catalyzed LDS Church officials to build increasingly dynamic religious institutions. Through scrupulous research and wide-ranging theoretical engagement, Walker shows that western railroads did not eradicate or diminish Mormon power. To the contrary, railroad promoters helped establish Mormonism as a normative American religion.
Book Synopsis The Protestant Clergy in the Great Plains and Mountain West, 1865-1915 by : Ferenc Morton Szasz
Download or read book The Protestant Clergy in the Great Plains and Mountain West, 1865-1915 written by Ferenc Morton Szasz and published by U of Nebraska Press. This book was released on 2004-01-01 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mainline Protestant churches played a vital role in the settlement of the West. Yet historiansøhave, for the most part, bypassed this theme. This account recreates the unique religious and cultural mix that sets this region apart from the rest of the nation. From itinerant circuit riders to powerful urban bishops, western clergy were continually involved in the maturation of their communities. Their duties on the frontier extended far beyond delivering Sunday sermons; they also served as librarians, counselors, social workers, educators, booksellers, peacekeepers, and general purveyors of culture. Weaving together the varied experiences of men and women from the five major Protestant denominations?Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Congregational, and Episcopal?the author discusses their responses to life on the frontier: the violence, the tumultuous growth of the cities, the isolation of farm life, and the widespread hunger, especially among women, for ?refinement.?
