Book Synopsis Dynamic Pavement Loads of Heavy Highway Vehicles by : Allan P. Whittemore
Download or read book Dynamic Pavement Loads of Heavy Highway Vehicles written by Allan P. Whittemore and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although dynamic vehicle loads are assumed to affect the life expectancy of pavement and bridge structures, the degree of influence has been conjectural. The project fell into three phases: literature and field surveys, experiments, and simulation and prediction. Special emphasis was given to ascertaining the types and characteristics of vehicles that produced the largest dynamic loads, to developing a device for measuring forces at the tire/road interface, and to developing a predictive methodology. A variety of speed, load, and road conditions was tested. Two on-board devices for measuring dynamic pavement load on a long-term, continuous basis were perfected.
Book Synopsis Dynamic Attributions of Pavement Unevenness by Full-Vehicle Model Simulation by : Xianhua Chen
Download or read book Dynamic Attributions of Pavement Unevenness by Full-Vehicle Model Simulation written by Xianhua Chen and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The paper reported a full-vehicle simulation to investigate the dynamic attribution of pavement unevenness during the vehicle-road dynamic interaction process by full-vehicle model simulation. Artificial road profiles generated by the inverse Fourier transform (iFFT) approach in Matlab were imported to CarSim/TruckSim by Simulink. Three full vehicle models of a car, bus, and truck were simulated under five constant operation speed. The effects of roughness level and operation speed on acceleration and dynamic tire loading have been analyzed. This paper showed how the riding comfort and dynamic loading coefficient change over the pavement surface degradation, which could be used to assess and maintaining the road pavement.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Symposium on Dynamics of Vehicles on Roads and Tracks is the leading international gathering of scientists and engineers from academia and industry in the field of ground vehicle dynamics to present and exchange their latest innovations and breakthroughs. Established in Vienna in 1977, the International Association of Vehicle System Dynamics (IAVSD) has since held its biennial symposia throughout Europe and in the USA, Canada, Japan, South Africa and China. The main objectives of IAVSD are to promote the development of the science of vehicle dynamics and to encourage engineering applications of this field of science, to inform scientists and engineers on the current state-of-the-art in the field of vehicle dynamics and to broaden contacts among persons and organisations of the various countries engaged in scientific research and development in the field of vehicle dynamics and related areas. IAVSD 2017, the 25th Symposium of the International Association of Vehicle System Dynamics was hosted by the Centre for Railway Engineering at Central Queensland University, Rockhampton, Australia in August 2017. The symposium focused on the following topics related to road and rail vehicles and trains: dynamics and stability; vibration and comfort; suspension; steering; traction and braking; active safety systems; advanced driver assistance systems; autonomous road and rail vehicles; adhesion and friction; wheel-rail contact; tyre-road interaction; aerodynamics and crosswind; pantograph-catenary dynamics; modelling and simulation; driver-vehicle interaction; field and laboratory testing; vehicle control and mechatronics; performance and optimization; instrumentation and condition monitoring; and environmental considerations. Providing a comprehensive review of the latest innovative developments and practical applications in road and rail vehicle dynamics, the 213 papers now published in these proceedings will contribute greatly to a better understanding of related problems and will serve as a reference for researchers and engineers active in this specialised field.
Book Synopsis Coupled System Pavement - Tire - Vehicle by : Michael Kaliske
Download or read book Coupled System Pavement - Tire - Vehicle written by Michael Kaliske and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-07-02 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book summarizes research being pursued within the Research Unit FOR 2089, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), the goal of which is to develop the scientific base for a paradigm shift towards dimensioning, structural realization and maintenance of pavements, and prepare road infrastructure for future requirements. It provides a coupled thermo-mechanical model for a holistic physical analysis of the pavement-tire-vehicle system: based on this model, pavement structures and materials can be optimized so that new demands become compatible with the main goal – durability of the structures and the materials. The development of these new and qualitatively improved modelling approaches requires a holistic procedure through the coupling of theoretical numerical and experimental approaches as well as an interdisciplinary and closely linked handling of the coupled pavement-tire-vehicle system. This interdisciplinary research provides a deeper understanding of the physics of the full system through complex, coupled simulation approaches and progress in terms of improved and, therefore, more durable and sustainable structures.
Book Synopsis Dynamics of Vehicle-Road Coupled System by : Shaopu Yang
Download or read book Dynamics of Vehicle-Road Coupled System written by Shaopu Yang and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-04-29 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vehicle dynamics and road dynamics are usually considered to be two largely independent subjects. In vehicle dynamics, road surface roughness is generally regarded as random excitation of the vehicle, while in road dynamics, the vehicle is generally regarded as a moving load acting on the pavement. This book suggests a new research concept to integrate the vehicle and the road system with the help of a tire model, and establishes a cross-subject research framework dubbed vehicle-pavement coupled system dynamics. In this context, the dynamics of the vehicle, road and the vehicle-road coupled system are investigated by means of theoretical analysis, numerical simulations and field tests. This book will be a valuable resource for university professors, graduate students and engineers majoring in automotive design, mechanical engineering, highway engineering and other related areas. Shaopu Yang is a professor and deputy president of Shijiazhuang Tiedao University, China; Liqun Chen is a professor at Shanghai University, Shanghai, China; Shaohua Li is a professor at Shijiazhuang Tiedao University, China.
