Download or read book Jim written by Ronald Lee Weagley and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011-11-23 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. Weagley tells tales of times past. Academic degrees, business experiences, a military career, a devoted wife, and four wonderful children mix with his imagination to produce saga segues rooted in truth and faith. Some of Dr. Weagleys stories are published and available: SEASCAPE, TRIBE ARPEGGIOS, WALLACE, and JED, each uniquely portraying justice and hope for the foolish, oppressed, and downtrodden. JIM is a continuation of Dr. Weagleys efforts to appreciate those who unnecessarily suffer hardships in life, as if voice for the silenced. Jim, an innocent 20th century protagonist, bounced against fates door, repeatedly. A loving family accidentally abandoned him while an infant barely capable of walking without a stagger. Rogue Apache rescued him from his plight in the 1890 Nebraska tall grass. His rescuers ushered a long march toward perdition salved by Grace administered by the Great Spirit. Jim avoided death, converted precarious situations into opportunities, and stood ultimately before a merciful God in order to receive a deserved blessing for a job well done. Time and circumstance met patience and faith in Jims life, allowing Dr. Weagley to release his latent desire to tell character stories of the strong, gallant, diligent, and the fabled survivors who thrived in the face of distinct adversities. Good and evil still reside side-by-side and only the dreamer can speculate with wonders that capture truth in the shadow shade of a Saving Grace.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An uneasy sense of impending calamity falls. An underhanded war crushes. As troubles beset the Flying Horse Ranch, lady veterinarian, Kat Lamar, teams up with newly hired ranch foreman, Cade Crocker, thwarting attempts aimed at forcing a land sale and stealing a runaway stallion. Cade, in dusty boots and cowboy hat, arrives under a cloud of suspicion, haunted by a past failure as he defends the Flying Horse under the mistrustful but tempting green eyes of the lady vet. Someone with inside knowledge is putting the Flying Horse Ranch out of business and setting off a series of sabotage mishaps. A stable fire puts Cade on the trail of the arsonist and horse thief. He finds little evidence, no answers, and plenty of suspects but no proof. Bad luck, sleuthing, and misfortunes abound for Kat, and riding into trouble, she comes across the terrifying reality of a wicked, inveigling hand grasping for what is rightfully hers. Her adversary is waiting and explodes in anger when crossed, terrifying Kat with his horrifying, crazy laughter. Cade, by her side, goes after the man who once outwitted him. Can he find his faith and reclaim the courage to fight a battle he once lost?

Download or read book Clash of the Little Giants written by Arne K. Lang and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2022-09-09 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the late 1890s, when boxing rivaled the popularity of baseball, George Dixon and Terry McGovern were among its most famous practitioners. Their paths first crossed in 1900 in what is widely considered the most significant featherweight bout in history. Both men were fighters who died young under distressing circumstances. Both were products of a burgeoning industrial society and a cult of masculinity, at a time when prizefighting's adherents and opponents were in a constant tug-of-war. This book tells the full story, with a fascinating cast of characters including imperious manager/promoter Tom O'Rourke, World Welterweight Champion Barbados Joe Walcott, and Tammany Hall bigwig Timothy "Big Tim" Sullivan, whose invisible hand made New York the epicenter of boxing in the 1890s.
