Download or read book The Selfish Elf written by Christopher J. Crouch and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2012-11-09 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Selfish Elf is a short story about a young elf who has a not-so-elfish personality. She would rather receive than give. One night she steals Santas bag along with as many toys as she can stuff into it and leaves the North Pole behind. She ends up in a small town where she learns a valuable lesson from an unlikely source about what greed can do to a person and especially an elf. The Christmas Elf was written with hopes that the reader will enjoy the short adventure of a young elf, but it was also written as instructions for a gift exchange whenever and wherever gifts are, well, exchanged. This type of gift exchange has been around a few years with various stories to move it along. The gift exchange goes like this: Persons sit around in a circle holding any random gift that they choose, while someone else (the one without a gift) reads the story, The Selfish Elf. In the story the author uses the words left and right to move the elf along in her journey. When the people in the circle hear either left or right, they pass their gifts in that direction to the person sitting beside them. Whatever gift the person is holding when the story is over is the one they go home with. No exceptions!

Book excerpt: It is a time of beginnings, a time of endings, a time when the vast world of Andoran comes under great upheaval, nearing the end of one age only to give birth to another. An ancient evil not seen since the Age of Dreams has come forth again to consume the living or bring death to those that would not be consumed. It is a time shortly after an unnatural plague ravaged those who lived in a hard fought for short time of peace and harmony, the Shadow Plagues-brought upon by the re-awakening of an even more ancient enemy called the Void, that which seeks to utterly consume all that lives. Fear rules the hearts and souls of all. Though most only know this fear as something that could be about to happen, a never-ending ominous darkness that looms just out of sight-the kind of apoplectic feeling that all wish and hope is only a bad dream. It is dark times were the Lord of the Undead has reawakened from a three millennia old sleep. The armies of the wicked join under the banner of this mad Lord. These armies roam freely the lands once held by good people who died in the plagues. There is hope, as those few who still possess the strength of the First Men and Love of the Creator will stand, defy and overcome or die trying to defeat that which would destroy any of the good placed in this vast mythical world. Only the legions of the South and these few remaining ancestors of the First Men stand in the way of utter ruin.
