Book excerpt: Rosicrucianism is a spiritual and cultural movement which arose in Europe in the early 17th century after the publication of several texts which purported to announce the existence of a hitherto unknown esoteric order to the world and made seeking its knowledge attractive to many. The mysterious doctrine of the order is "built on esoteric truths of the ancient past", which "concealed from the average man, provide insight into nature, the physical universe, and the spiritual realm." The manifestos do not elaborate extensively on the matter, but clearly combine references to Kabbalah, Hermeticism, alchemy, and mystical Christianity.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Secret Doctrine of the Rosicrucians is one of the many titles attributed to William Walker Atkinson writing under a pseudonym. The book presents the history and background of the Rosicruscians, a mystical brotherhood which uses Christian symbology to communicate otherworldly ideas and meanings. Atkinson, writing as Magnus Incognito, supplies a guide to the beliefs and teachings of the brotherhood, including how to ascend to higher planes, sexual satisfaction as spiritual enlightenment, and the meaning behind auras. Interestingly, much of the Rosicrucisans is taken verbatim from another Atkinson work The Arcane Teachings.MAGNUS INCOGNITO is an alias and pen name of American writer WILLIAM WALKER ATKINSON (1862-1932). He only used the pseudonym once, obviously wishing to emphasize the writer's anonymity. Atkinson was editor of the popular magazine New Thought from 1901 to 1905, and editor of the journal Advanced Thought from 1916 to 1919. He authored dozens of New Thought books under numerous pseudonyms, including "Yogi," some of which are likely still unknown today.

Book excerpt: The student of the history of occultism and the esoteric teachings, and even the average reader of current books and magazines, finds many references to "The Rosicrucians," a supposed ancient secret society devoted to the study of occult doctrines and the manifestation of occult powers. But when such person seeks to obtain detailed information concerning this supposed ancient "order" he finds himself baffled and defeated. Before acknowledging the futility of the quest, however, he usually investigates one or more so-called "orders" having as a part of their title the word "Rosicrucian," only to find himself invited to join such "order" upon the payment of a fee or fees ranging from a small amount in some cases to quite large amounts in others, each "order" claiming to be the "only original order," and asserting that all the others are base imitators. This book will give you all the insights on this secret order.

This work was written in part to correct the impression that the Rosicrucian brotherhood engaged primarily in alchemy. The author, an initiate of the order, reminds his readers that it is mental or spiritual alchemy that is the essence of the Rosicrucian order. The book begins with the symbol of the Rosy Cross itself, its forms and significance. Then the reader is introduced to the Seven Aphorisms of Creation-the core teaching of the Rosicrucian order. The author then explores some of the spiritual implications of these aphorisms. The work is now attributed to William Walter Atkinson. Contents: The Rosicrucians and their secret doctrine -- The Eternal Parent -- The Soul of the World -- The Universal Androgyne -- The One and the Many -- The Universal Flame of Life -- The planes of consciousness -- The three higher planes of consciousness -- The seven fold Soul of man -- Metempsychosis -- The Soul's progress -- The Aura and the auric colors -- The Seven Cosmic Principles.

Rosicrucianism is a philosophical secret society said to have been founded in late medieval Germany by Christian Rosenkreuz. It holds a doctrine or theology "built on esoteric truths of the ancient past", which, "concealed from the average man, provide insight into nature, the physical universe and the spiritual realm." Rosicrucianism is symbolized by the Rose Cross. Many esoteric societies have claimed to derive their doctrines, in whole or in part, from the original Rosicrucians (including Freemasonry). Several modern societies have been formed of the study of Rosicrucianism and allied subjects. William Walker Atkinson (1862-1932) was a prolific writer. His works treat themes related to the mental world, occultism, divination, psychic reality, and mankind's nature. They constitute a basis for what Atkinson called "New Psychology" or "New Thought".

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first complete historical and philosophical investigation into the “invisible fraternity” of the Rosicrucians • Contains the latest research on the origins of the Rosicrucian movement • Presents the ties between Rosicrucianism, Freemasonry, and the Templars • Written by a “perfected” Knight of the Rose Croix and the Pelican (18th degree, Ancient and Accepted Rite) For nearly 400 years, incredible myths and stories have been woven around the “invisible” Brothers of the Rose Cross, the Rosicrucians. It is said that they possessed the secret of man and God, that they could turn lead into gold, that they governed Europe in secret, that theirs was the true philosophy of Freemasonry, and that they could save--or destroy--the world. In The Invisible History of the Rosicrucians, Tobias Churton, a “perfected” Knight of the Rose Croix and the Pelican (18th degree, Ancient and Accepted Rite), presents the first definitive historical and philosophical view of this mysterious brotherhood. Starting at its beginnings in Germany in 1603, Churton unveils the truth behind the complex story that underlies the Rosicrucian movement. He explains its purpose, the motives of its earliest creators, and the manifestos “accidentally” published in the 17th century that emerged at precisely the time when modern science was emerging. He details the people who influenced its development--including Johannes Kepler, Robert Fludd, and Sir Francis Bacon--and the ties between the Rosicrucians, Freemasons, and Templars. He also shows how Rosicrucianism shaped the mythology and spiritual consciousness of both North and South America and reveals that there are many Rosicrucian fraternities still active throughout the world today.
