Download or read book Limitless Mind written by Russell Targ and published by New World Library. This book was released on 2010-10-04 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The psychic abilities of most humans are dampened by the clatter of our conscious minds. In this timely book, Russell Targ shows readers how to quiet this noise and see into the far reaches of time and space through remote viewing. He also illuminates the phenomena of intuitive medical diagnosis and distant healing in a groundbreaking synthesis of research and empirical data. Drawing on a broad range of spiritual traditions, Targ demonstrates that these psychic abilities offer a path of self-inquiry and self-realization and have the power to expand each person’s limited awareness into the consciousness shared by all beings. Targ explores the scientific and spiritual implications of remote viewing, as well as offering practical techniques and exercises to nurture this universally available but often untapped skill.
Book Synopsis Bobbs-Merrill Readers by : Clara Belle Baker
Download or read book Bobbs-Merrill Readers written by Clara Belle Baker and published by . This book was released on 1924 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The only way to cultivate a taste for good reading is to read--and to enjoy while reading. It is upon this principle that the present texts are based. It provides pupils with a wide variety of literature, of many types, chosen primarily from library records, lists made by children, and teachers observations. The editors guiding question has been, "Does this passage provide a clear window through which boys and girls can look out upon an interesting phase of life?" The stories and poems in each volume are followed by a study section with exercises for vocabulary, comprehension, oral reading proficiency, or essays. These tasks increase in difficulty as the pupil ascends through the levels, and are given as the minimum essentials for pupil guidance. Teachers are free to adapt as necessary to meet the needs of their pupils.

Book Synopsis Gurudev's Drumming Legacy by : James Kippen
Download or read book Gurudev's Drumming Legacy written by James Kippen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2022-03-30 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 1903 Mrdang aur Tabla Vadanpaddhati is a revelatory text that has never been translated or analysed. It is a manual for playing the two most important drums of North Indian (Hindustani) music, the pakhavaj (mrdang) and the tabla. Owing to its relative obscurity, it is a source that has never been discussed in the literature on Hindustani music. Its author, Gurudev Patwardhan, was Vice Principal of V.D. Paluskar's first music school in Lahore from its inception in 1901 to 1908. Professor James Kippen provides the first translation of this immensely important text and examines its startling implications for rhythmic and metric theory. It is the earliest work on Indian drumming to contain a notation sufficiently precise to allow definitive reconstruction. The compositions are of considerable musical interest, for they can be readily realized on the tabla or pakhavaj. Kippen sets the work and objectives of the original author in the context of a rich historical, social and political background. By also discussing radical differences in the second edition of 1938, published by Gurudev's nephew, the vocalist Vinayakrao Patwardhan, Kippen illuminates the process by which 'tabla theory' was being created in the early 20th century. Both Patwardhans were enthusiastic supporters of Paluskar's nationalist imperatives, and active participants in his drive to institutionalize music, codify and publish notations of it, and promote a modern, Hindu vision of India wherein its identity could once again be linked to a glorious golden age in distant antiquity.

Humor implies a complex knowledge of the world and the ability to interpret reality in multiple layers. That said, it is not surprising that many authors have chosen humorous fiction to convey their message. The critic August Nemo selected seven short stories that use humor to reach and entertain the reader: - A Burlesque Autobiography by Mark Twain - Luck by Mark Twain - The Death of a Government Clerk by Anton Chekhov - The Mouse by Saki - The Nose by Nikolai Gogol - Soaked in Seaweed: or Upset in the Ocean by Stephen Leacock - My Financial Career by Stephen Leacock For more books with interesting themes, be sure to check the other books in this collection!
