Book excerpt: One of the most critical challenges facing the developing countries is the training and development of its people, employees are the one the critical strategic asset in any organization. By improving their employee's skills at work environment, organizations can act as successful and highly compete within the domain of their courses of action. Not all employees are same in their working capacities and they have different modes of behavior regardless of the rewards. This research aims at investigating the impact of training transfer on job performance and how they correlate with each other within the context of Higher Education organizations in Palestine. Employees only seem to use knowledge, skills and attitudes from corporate training programs to a very limited extent at their workplaces. It has often been argued that training factors has a significant role in improving the performance, and what is the role of training transfer on the relationship, unfortunately, within Palestinian context there are ambiguity in previous research, thus the study recommend for future research to investigate the relationship between pre-training factors, training transfer and performance in Palestine within educational context.

Hence the current research aimed to examine how process training factors are related to job performance and to investigate the mediating role of training transfer in this relationship. Being quantitative in nature and having a target population of 7651 academic staffs a random sample of 300 comprises of academic staff from different Palestinian higher education institutes. The result suggested that the relationship of transfer climate and job performance is significantly mediated by training transfer. The study provides the discussion and recommendations too.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First released in the Spring of 1999, How People Learn has been expanded to show how the theories and insights from the original book can translate into actions and practice, now making a real connection between classroom activities and learning behavior. This edition includes far-reaching suggestions for research that could increase the impact that classroom teaching has on actual learning. Like the original edition, this book offers exciting new research about the mind and the brain that provides answers to a number of compelling questions. When do infants begin to learn? How do experts learn and how is this different from non-experts? What can teachers and schools do-with curricula, classroom settings, and teaching methodsâ€"to help children learn most effectively? New evidence from many branches of science has significantly added to our understanding of what it means to know, from the neural processes that occur during learning to the influence of culture on what people see and absorb. How People Learn examines these findings and their implications for what we teach, how we teach it, and how we assess what our children learn. The book uses exemplary teaching to illustrate how approaches based on what we now know result in in-depth learning. This new knowledge calls into question concepts and practices firmly entrenched in our current education system. Topics include: How learning actually changes the physical structure of the brain. How existing knowledge affects what people notice and how they learn. What the thought processes of experts tell us about how to teach. The amazing learning potential of infants. The relationship of classroom learning and everyday settings of community and workplace. Learning needs and opportunities for teachers. A realistic look at the role of technology in education.

This book was released on 2011-09 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organizations in Jordan have invested heavily in employee training. However, these training efforts may not be as effective. One area of particular interest is learning transfer, or the extent to which learning from training is applied on the job. Recent research efforts have led to the development of the Learning Transfer System Inventory (LTSI), the only valid and reliable measure of key transfer system factors. This study validated the constructs of the LTSI for use in Jordan. By doing so, HRD practitioners in Jordan can use such instrument to diagnose early problems with learning transfer, the key to training effectiveness and individual performance. The LTSI was translated through a rigorous cross-cultural translation process which involved forward and back translations, pilot testing, and the establishment of equivalency using objective measures of evaluation. The ALTSI was administered to 500 employees employed by 28 public and private sector organizations operating in Jordan who have attended nine different types of training. Responses were received from 450 employees with a response rate of 90%. The results showed that 18 factors were valid for use in Jordan.

Book Synopsis The Transfer of Training Into the Work Environment - a Socio-cultural Approach by : Marco Köster
Download or read book The Transfer of Training Into the Work Environment - a Socio-cultural Approach written by Marco Köster and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2007-10 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Essay from the year 2002 in the subject Sociology - Work, Profession, Education, Organisation, grade: Grade A, University of Manchester (Institute for Development Policy and Management), language: English, abstract: In theoretical and empirical research the elusive phenomenon of training transfer has widely been neglected. Attempts to grasp the many facets of the transfer of training in a comprehensive theory have been few. Transfer has traditionally been regarded as a training product to be measured at a fixed point of time after the course. Alternatively, some authors suggests a process approach to transfer and argue that transfer of training is a complex and discontinuous process of successful skill application and recurring setbacks, of achieved behaviour change and frequent relapse to old habits. Consequently, the identification and measurement of transfer delivers a comprehensive picture only when it sets in at various points of time after the training. Throughout the transfer process the trainee is exposed to factors inhibiting or facilitating the transfer of training to the workplace. The influences of transfer facilitators and transfer barriers are outlined in this text.

Book Synopsis Qualitative Methods for Practice Research by : Jeffrey Longhofer
Download or read book Qualitative Methods for Practice Research written by Jeffrey Longhofer and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2013 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Qualitative methods have become increasingly popular among researchers, and while many comprehensive textbooks describe the standard techniques and philosophical assumptions, it is often assumed that practitioners are consumers of research and not producers. This innovative book describes how qualitative methods can be used to investigate the in-vivo use of theory in social work practice. It offers not just a comprehensive overview of methods, but a concise, accessible guide focused on how to study and explicate application of theory, and the creative tension that inevitably exists between theory and practice. Theory-to-practice gaps are indispensable conditions for conducting engaged scholarship, which in turn promotes collaboration between researchers and practitioners in addressing practice-related problems in real-world settings. Engaged scholarship and critical realist assumptions are applied to three case studies that combine research questions with data collection techniques and analytic strategies. Thematic, grounded theory, and narrative research techniques are all illustrated, including original quick-start instructions for using ATLAS.ti software. Institutional ethnography is also presented as a method that is particularly useful for social work practice settings. By generating knowledge of practice in open and natural systems, qualitative methods can be used to examine how practice is experienced and how interventions may be understood and transformed. This cutting-edge pocket guide will equip practitioner-scholars with the foundation for conducting research that makes a difference.
Book Synopsis The Effects of Training Design, Individual Characteristics and Work Environment on Transfer of Training by : Raquel Velada
Download or read book The Effects of Training Design, Individual Characteristics and Work Environment on Transfer of Training written by Raquel Velada and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study aims to gain insight into some of the factors that determine the transfer of training to the work context. The present research examined the relationship between three types of predictors on transfer of training, including training design, individual characteristics and work environment. Data was collected at two points in time from 182 employees in a large grocery organization. The results indicated that transfer design, performance self-efficacy, training retention and performance feedback were significantly related to transfer of training. Contrary to expectation, supervisory support was not significantly related to transfer of training. These results suggest that in order to enhance transfer of training, organizations should design training that gives trainees the ability to transfer learning, reinforces the trainee's beliefs in their ability to transfer, ensures the training content is retained over time and provides appropriate feedback regarding employee job performance following training activities.
