Therefore the subjects regarding trust have become important. Trust established in Supply Chain causes effective relationships among definitive numbers of suppliers in the long-run. The effect of trust in supply chain on firm performance and the contribution of agility to this relation have been supported in the literature. In this research, the role of agility in the effect of trust in supply chain on firm performance will be investigated. According to the results of hypotheses tests, there are positive and significant relations between supply management integration and trust in supply chain, between trust in supply chain and supply chain agility, and between supply chain agility and firm performance.
Book Synopsis The Concept of Supply Chain Agility by : David M. Gligor
Download or read book The Concept of Supply Chain Agility written by David M. Gligor and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Agility has been identified as one of the most salient issues of contemporary supply chain management. Despite its importance, there has been limited theory development in the firm supply chain agility area. Elements and linkages among agility elements are underdeveloped, and it is uncommon for any two authors to adopt the same definition. A rigorously validated survey instrument is also needed to enable researchers to credibly build on theories regarding causal links among agility-related capabilities, practices and performance outcomes. The sports science and military science theoretical bases are investigated to better understand agility and identify its dimensions, and define it in a supply chain context. Further, a comprehensive measurement instrument that draws on the foundations of social and life science theory is developed and empirically validated so that researchers can rigorously expand agility theory The antecedents of firm supply chain agility have been primarily addressed at an operational level. This dissertation expands on the work of Braunscheidel and Suresh (2009) who explored the role of different managerial orientations in achieving supply chain agility. Finally, scholars have issued research calls for an in-depth understanding of the performance outcomes of firm supply chain agility and accentuated the need to empirically examine such outcomes from an efficiency and effectiveness perspective. This dissertation responds to such calls, and further investigates the impact of firm supply chain agility on the firm's financial performance using secondary, Compustat data. Thus, this research further contributes to theory development by providing a better understanding of how firm supply chain agility impacts firm performance. Relevant managerial implications are also presented.
Book Synopsis Supply Chain Collaboration by : Mei Cao
Download or read book Supply Chain Collaboration written by Mei Cao and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-10-05 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To survive and thrive in the competition, firms have strived to achieve greater supply chain collaboration to leverage the resources and knowledge of suppliers and customers. Internet based technologies, particularly interorganizational systems, further extend the firms’ opportunities to strengthen their supply chain partnerships and share real-time information to optimize their operations. Supply Chain Collaboration: Roles of Interorganizational Systems, Trust, and Collaborative Culture explores the nature and characteristics, antecedents, and consequences of supply chain collaboration from multiple theoretical perspectives. Supply Chain Collaboration: Roles of Interorganizational Systems, Trust, and Collaborative Culture conceptualizes supply chain collaboration as seven interconnecting elements including information sharing, incentive alignment, goal congruence, decision synchronization, resource sharing, as well as communication and joint knowledge creation. These seven components define the occurrence of collaborative efforts and allow us to explain supply chain collaboration more precisely. Collaborative advantages are also divided into five components to capture the joint competitive advantages and benefits among supply chain partners. The definitions and measures developed here examine some central issue surrounding supply chain development but this is also followed up with real-life managerial practicalities. This balance of theory and practical application makes Supply Chain Collaboration: Roles of Interorganizational Systems, Trust, and Collaborative Culture a strong resource for industry practitioners and researchers alike.

Download or read book The Effect of Supply Chain Agility on Firm Performance written by Hasan Mert Güner and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the current rapidly changing, developing and complicating global world, the companies are constantly in a competition with one another. In this competitive environment, the companies need to use their resources in the most accurate manner in order to survive. Companies gain a competitive advantage by responding to variable customer demands in different markets within the shortest time and at the right time. They can also gain this by concentrating the agility factor in the supply chain. In case of uncertainty, the supply chain must be agile for the companies to gain a competitive advantage. In this study, the effects of agility and technological uncertainty on the performance of the company in the supply chain management are examined. In the research, it has been observed that technological uncertainty affects the supply chain agility and the supply chain agility also affects the performance of the company in a positive way.
Book Synopsis Organizations and Environments by : Howard Aldrich
Download or read book Organizations and Environments written by Howard Aldrich and published by Stanford University Press. This book was released on 2008 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Organizations and Environments was originally issued in 1979, it increased interest in evolutionary explanations of organizational change. Since then, scholars and practitioners have widely cited the book for its innovative answer to this question: Under what conditions do organizations change? Aldrich achieves theoretical integration across 13 chapters by using an evolutionary model that captures the essential features of relations between organizations and their environments. This model explains organizational change by focusing on the processes of variation, selection, retention, and struggle. The "environment," as conceived by Aldrich, does not refer simply to elements "out there"beyond a set of focal organizationsbut rather to concentrations of resources, power, political domination, and most concretely, other organizations. Scholars using Aldrich's model have examined the societal context within which founders create organizations and whether those organizations survive or fail, rise to prominence, or sink into obscurity. A preface to the reprinted edition frames the utility of this classic for tomorrow's researchers and businesspeople.
Book Synopsis The Effect of Trust in Supply Chain on the Firm Performance Through Supply Chain Collaboration and Collaborative Advantage by : Mustafa Emre Civelek
Download or read book The Effect of Trust in Supply Chain on the Firm Performance Through Supply Chain Collaboration and Collaborative Advantage written by Mustafa Emre Civelek and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Trust in the supply chain leads to an increase in supply chain collaboration (SCC) and subsequently in collaborative advantage (CA) and consequently affects firm performance positively. Supply chain collaboration is an effective collaboration of supply chain partners to succeed in a common goal. Concisely, the collaborative advantage is the relative competitive advantage among companies. It refers to the gathering, exchanging and improving the resources among the collaborating partners. This research aims to clarify the relationship between trust in the supply chain and firm performance through supply chain collaboration and collaborative advantage. Analysis results show that trust in the supply chain positively affects supply chain collaboration. Although the proposed model suggested a positive relationship between trust in the supply chain and collaborative advantage, according to the hypotheses test results, this relation is not statistically significant. This means that trust in the supply chain has no direct effect on the collaborative advantage, but has an indirect effect through supply chain collaboration on the collaborative advantage. Finally, the positive effect of collaborative advantage on firm performance has been found to be statistically significant.

Book Synopsis Effects of Flexibility and Supply Chain Agility on Firm Performance in the Fashion Industry by : Tick Lun Alan Chan
Download or read book Effects of Flexibility and Supply Chain Agility on Firm Performance in the Fashion Industry written by Tick Lun Alan Chan and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Partial Least Squares (PLS) was used for testing measurement and structural models. The data from 141 samples revealed that both strategic flexibility and manufacturing flexibility positively influence supply chain agility. Meanwhile, strategic flexibility and supply chain agility positively influence firm performance but not manufacturing flexibility. Supply chain agility also plays a significant mediating role in firm performance. Based on these findings, the present study adds to the growing evidence of supply chain agility in both the academe and the practitioners' arena. The results provide solid implications to practitioners in the industry to help them beef up their firepower in today's fiercely competitive market. The result is consistent with those arguments that promote the importance of supply chain agility in association with firm performance. However, the statistical findings do not support the hypothesis that manufacturing flexibility positively influences firm performance. Manufacturing flexibility positively influences firm performance with only supply chain agility as the mediator. The present study articulates the perspective that firms should not look at flexibility in isolation from the rest of the supply chains, but should orchestrate the supply chain capability in a holistic manner and strive for a strategic level of supply chain agility in a broader sense.
Book Synopsis The Crucial Role of Supply Chain Agility and Firm's Export Commitment on Export Performance by : Bushra Rizwan
Download or read book The Crucial Role of Supply Chain Agility and Firm's Export Commitment on Export Performance written by Bushra Rizwan and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of supply chain agility on export performance through the mediating role of responsiveness, innovativeness, and competence in the manufacturing firms of Pakistan. The research is aimed at identifying how market dynamics play a moderating role between the firm's export commitment and export performance by studying environmental conditions and various barriers in the market. The preparation of the questionnaire has been done through the study of extant literature. Data was collected from the 299 representatives working in different manufacturing companies in Pakistan. Suitable tests were conducted to validate the current study and the validity of the constructs. The testing of the hypothesis was conducted using PLS-SEM software. The study has found the support of the only mediator competence in the relationship. One of the reasons for this gap is that data were collected from the manufacturing companies in Pakistan which need to reinforce innovative skills and be responsive enough to cater to the changing needs of the customer. The current study creates an opportunity for future research by working on the specific industry of Pakistan to get more concrete results or the addition of new variables that can add a valuable impact on the proposed relationship.
Book Synopsis Antecedents and Enablers of Supply Chain Agility and Its Effect on Performance by : Constantin Blome
Download or read book Antecedents and Enablers of Supply Chain Agility and Its Effect on Performance written by Constantin Blome and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper investigates the fundamental building blocks of supply chain agility, which are conceptualized as supply- and demand-side competence. While the former is conceptualized as production and supply management related activities, the latter is conceptualized as distribution and demand management related activities. The model further assesses the influence of supply chain agility on operational performance, as well as its mediating role in the relationship between supply- and demand-side competence and performance. Within this framework, process compliance, i.e. how well supply chain management processes are internally executed by the firm's employees, is viewed as an enabler (moderator) on the relationship between supply chain competencies and supply chain agility. Theoretical substantiation is provided by the resource-based view of the firm augmented with the dynamic capabilities perspective. The model is tested with data from 121 supply chain management professionals. Implications for both academic theory development, and supply chain and production management practice are provided.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book critically examines the concept of 'supply chain agility' (SCA) in a novel context, shedding light on its implications for executives and professionals. While much literature has explored SCA in manufacturing, this book pioneers a comprehensive exploration of its application in the service sector, an often-overlooked domain in operations management, supply chain management, and innovation literature. The analysis, based on data from 245 service firms in Australia, employs a unique approach, revealing a positive relationship between firm innovativeness and SCA, with SCA in turn positively impacting firm performance. By bridging gaps in previous research, this book offers conceptual, methodological, and empirical contributions, emphasizing the critical role of innovation in achieving SCA, particularly in uncertain contexts. It provides valuable insights for firms navigating the service economy, offering a holistic examination of the benefits of SCA and empirically validating its role in managing market changes cost-effectively for a competitive advantage. The findings encourage a re-evaluation of firm performance, urging business professionals and managers to adopt a comprehensive perspective. The insights presented serve as a valuable tool for measurement, estimation, assessment, and benchmarking—key drivers for improving and predicting performance in dynamic supply chain environments. Overall, this book is a timely and essential resource for those seeking to understand and enhance supply chain agility in the evolving landscape of the service industry.
Download or read book Net Worth written by John Hagel and published by Harvard Business Press. This book was released on 1999 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Consumers already recognize the need to protect their privacy when using the Internet to communicate, browse for information, and purchase goods and services. With Net Worth, authors Hagel and Singer build an intriguing scenario in which customers take control of their personal data and refuse to surrender it without some compensation. As customers search for the best deal and the safest place for their information assets, an opportunity emerges for firms to leverage new, web-based strategies and act as infomediaries--brokers or intermediaries who help customers maximize the value of their data. Net Worth constructs a new business model around the infomediary, and reveals the coming battle among infomediaries for customers' trust and private information. The authors examine the opportunities the infomediary will present for businesses and consumers alike, as customer-centric brands rise up as the primary source of new value creation, forcing companies to reassess the nature of their core businesses and their long-held beliefs about brands and marketing.

This book was released on 2024-03-15 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every industry has faced the tidal wave of 'digital' that has either re-shaped or dramatically altered their modus operandi. Supporting technologies in the management information systems arena have given rise to increased end to end visibility, real time access to information, and tightly controlled monitoring of deployed assets. In many industries it is straightforward to see the impact that digital technologies have had. Finance is a great example, with cash payments becoming increasingly less and less common, and digital currencies increasing in prominence. Yet how has this impacted supply chain management? In a discipline that spans multiple industries, continents, and companies, are there examples that we can point to that explain how digital supply chains have become? Which aspects of supply chain management were transformed by the digital tidal wave, and which functions are lagging behind? This is what this volume seeks to address.Trends: what are the current trends in digital (or digitalization) supply chain management? Ideally, these trends will include all aspects of the supply chain. That is, how has the digital revolution impacted sourcing? What are the digital trends in the logistics, warehousing, and distribution industry? How has 'digital' impacted the operations and manufacturing industry? Challenges: where are the diminishing returns to digital and its inclusion in the supply chain? Are there problems related to procurement and sourcing as the digital revolution takes hold? Are logistics challenges compounded in a digital world? Is manufacturing more streamlined or are there additional complexities that need to be addressed?Solutions: Are the challenges all too overwhelming, or are there remedies that we can advance to cope with an ever increasingly digital world?
