Book Synopsis The Donkey Speaks... AGAIN! by : John Hohl
Download or read book The Donkey Speaks... AGAIN! written by John Hohl and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2014-10-16 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How we understand and interpret prophecy ultimately determines how we interpret the rest of the Bible—even how we understand God. Unfortunately, all the currently accepted outlines of how the end-times are portrayed in the Bible contain contradictions. The two major groups—Amillennialism (who reject the theory that Jesus Christ will have a literal, thousand-year-long, physical reign on the earth) and Premillennialism (who believe Jesus Christ will literally and physically return to the earth after taking the Christian believers up to heaven)—each have strong arguments. While the Premillennial view appears to have the most validity, it also has many contradictions mainly rooted in the assumption of a seven-year yet future tribulation before the second coming. The Donkey Speaks Again will help the reader finally understand Bible prophecies and the way the Bible lays them out for us. Key Bible words and phrases are interpreted to allow the reader to overlap singular events depicted within the two separate visions of end-times events (given to Jews in the Old Testament and the Christians in the New Testament) confidently as occurring together on the prophecy timeline. When faced with these truths, the reader will be forced to change the way they understand God, the Bible, and definitely some long-held, but never questioned beliefs.

In this accessible guide, leading Old Testament scholar Peter Gentry identifies seven common characteristics of prophetic literature in the Bible that help us understand each book's message. Book excerpt: The latest addition to the Forms of the Old Testament Literature series presents a complete form-critical analysis of the last six books in the Minor Prophets: Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi. By looking carefully at the literary genre and internal structure of each book, Michael Floyd uncovers the literary conventions that helped shape the composition of these prophetic books in their final form. Useful to scholars, pastors, and students, this commentary shows how analysis of literary form can lead to a more profound understanding of the Minor Prophets. - Publisher.

This book was released on 2006-03-17 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is infinitely better to commence a study of the prophets with what they themselves have written rather than with the meagre narratives and scattered legends of their deeds and words. In their own writings they have most distinctly and trustworthily laid bare their spirit. Whoever desires to know in their inmost hearts these heroes of divine truth and to admire their genuine greatness, should learn first to understand their words and actions as they themselves have recorded them. It is here that they approach us most closely and confidingly, inviting us most irresistibly to make ourselves acquainted with them. --from the Introduction
