Book excerpt: "The Prophet and the Witch: Under the Influence" is the prelude to "The Process: The Refiner's Fire." It is a TESTimony of how the devil uses witches and witchcraft to recruit or kill the Lord's prophets (or at least their ministries). Invaluable lessons learned from this gripping narrative include: o Why the discerning of spirits is a vital gift during these end times.o Why the Lord instituted the death penalty for witches and false prophets (whom Jesus called 'ravening wolves'), and why some false prophets are witches.o How to test the spirit to see if it is of God.o How to identify signs and symptoms of witchcraft attacks, such as confusion, false confirmations, demonic dreams and visions.o Why it is important to pray for your future spouse.o How the Lord communicates using dreams and visions and what they may mean.o How the enemy uses a spirit of deep sleep to attack prophets by closing their eyes and covering the heads of the seers (Isaiah 29:10).o It is not the Lord's will that any should perish (die the second death), but that all should come to repentance

Book excerpt: "Witches are gathering." When most people hear the word "witches," they think of horror films and Halloween, but to the nearly one million Americans who practice Paganism today, witchcraft is a nature-worshipping, polytheistic, and very real religion. So Alex Mar discovers when she sets out to film a documentary and finds herself drawn deep into the world of present-day magic. Witches of America follows Mar on her immersive five-year trip into the occult, charting modern Paganism from its roots in 1950s England to its current American mecca in the San Francisco Bay Area; from a gathering of more than a thousand witches in the Illinois woods to the New Orleans branch of one of the world's most influential magical societies. Along the way she takes part in dozens of rituals and becomes involved with a wild array of characters. This sprawling magical community compels Mar to confront what she believes is possible--or hopes might be. With keen intelligence and wit, Mar illuminates the world of witchcraft while grappling in fresh and unexpected ways with the question underlying every faith: Why do we choose to believe in anything at all?--Adapted from book jacket.

Book excerpt: Puritans. Quakers. Pirates. Mohawks. Witches. And a brutal war...If you thought New England was dull in the 1670s, get ready for a history lesson. In the critically acclaimed "My Father's Kingdom," debut author James W. George transported his readers to 1671 New England, and the world of Reverend Israel Brewster. It was a world of faith, virtue, and love, but it was also a world of treachery, hatred, and murder.Four years later, Brewster is a disgraced outcast, residing in Providence and working as a humble cooper. Despite his best efforts, war could not be averted, and now, "King Philip's War" has begun. The rebellion is led by Metacomet, known as "King Philip" to the English colonists. He is the tormented son of the great Massasoit, and leader of the Wampanoag nation. Once the most reliable of Plymouth Colony's allies, they are now the bitterest of enemies. Meanwhile, Metacomet's mysterious counselor, Linto, despises this war and will do anything to end the bloodshed.Meticulously researched, "The Prophet and the Witch" is a tale of hope and brotherhood in the face of evil and violence. It features the remarkable cast of fictional and historical characters from book one, including Josiah Winslow, Linto, Increase Mather, Constance Wilder, and Jeremiah Barron. Additionally, new characters such as America's first ranger, Captain Benjamin Church, bring this chapter of history to life like never before.Praise for James W. George and book one, "My Father's Kingdom":"Five stars to My Father's Kingdom. It's a rare read full of stunning turns of fate and unforeseen consequences that carry this satisfying saga through to its historically accurate conclusion -- the long, bloody conflict between settlers and Indians that was "King Philip's War."Courtesy of The Indie View"It's a beautiful picture of American History and the fragile nature of peace and friendship...Five Stars."Courtesy of The Literary Titan "The author very skillfully captures the time period, the belief systems, the challenges of daily life, and other aspects of these clashing cultures... There is a smooth flow in his writing style. The characters are well-developed and interesting... Book excerpt: A young woman living in a rigid, puritanical society discovers dark powers within herself in this stunning, feminist fantasy debut. In the lands of Bethel, where the Prophet's word is law, Immanuelle Moore's very existence is blasphemy. Her mother’s union with an outsider of a different race cast her once-proud family into disgrace, so Immanuelle does her best to worship the Father, follow Holy Protocol, and lead a life of submission, devotion, and absolute conformity, like all the other women in the settlement. But a mishap lures her into the forbidden Darkwood surrounding Bethel, where the first prophet once chased and killed four powerful witches. Their spirits are still lurking there, and they bestow a gift on Immanuelle: the journal of her dead mother, who Immanuelle is shocked to learn once sought sanctuary in the wood. Fascinated by the secrets in the diary, Immanuelle finds herself struggling to understand how her mother could have consorted with the witches. But when she begins to learn grim truths about the Church and its history, she realizes the true threat to Bethel is its own darkness. And she starts to understand that if Bethel is to change, it must begin with her.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Approximately 2,000 years ago, some Jewish communities of Galatia in central Asia Minor believed they had fallen under a curse, argues Jeremy Wade Barrier. A fellow Jew named Paul wrote the letter we call Galatians to help them escape its effects. In the letter, Barrier argues, Paul called for the Jews in Galatia to stop practicing circumcision. The rite had fallen into disuse within many Jewish communities in the Roman Empire, but Barrier argues the Galatian Jews believed it was a talisman that would protect them from harm. As a further precaution, they needed to deal with the person who had brought this evil to their community. A witch hunt was underway, and some had concluded that the witch was none other than Paul. Barrier provides a reconstruction of the original occasion of Paul’s letter to the Galatians and shows how Paul defended himself from accusations of witchcraft by countering that the ritual that would protect them from the “Evil Eye” was not circumcision, but rather baptism. Through the ritual of baptism, they could receive healing from a material, yet divine, “breath” of God. Barrier also reconstructs an earlier understanding of this pneuma that was lost to subsequent Christianity under the influence of Neoplatonism.

Her witchcraft has wreaked mass spiritual carnage through fear, manipulation, intimidation, and domination carried out by those who fall under her spell -- even those in leadership. Her wickedness has wounded and scarred countless believers, leaving them fearful, depressed, defeated, sick, and confused. Because of Jezebel, some have lost hope and aborted God's call on their lives. Her assault will continue until all of God's people are dead or defeated. Jezebel's bloodlust for death and destruction will only be stopped when met with spiritual violence. God's people must rise up in the power of the Holy Spirit to expose the spirit of Jezebel and her evil plans, gain authority, and war against her victoriously."--Page 4 of cover.
