Book excerpt: Celebrating 25 Years as a New York Times Bestseller — Over 16 Million Copies Sold It’s no wonder that The Power of Now has sold over 16 million copies worldwide and has been translated into over 30 foreign languages. Much more than simple principles and platitudes, the book takes readers on an inspiring spiritual journey to find their true and deepest self and reach the ultimate in personal growth and spirituality: the discovery of truth and light. In the first chapter, Tolle introduces readers to enlightenment and its natural enemy, the mind. He awakens readers to their role as a creator of pain and shows them how to have a pain-free identity by living fully in the present. The journey is thrilling, and along the way, the author shows how to connect to the indestructible essence of our Being, “the eternal, ever-present One Life beyond the myriad forms of life that are subject to birth and death.” Featuring a new preface by the author, this paperback shows that only after regaining awareness of Being, liberated from Mind and intensely in the Now, is there Enlightenment.

Book excerpt: • A celebration of the journey of African-American women toward a new spirituality grounded in social awareness, black American tradition, metaphysics, and heightened creativity. • Features illuminating insights from Alice Walker, Toni Cade Bambara, Lucille Clifton, Dolores Kendrick, Sonia Sanchez, Michele Gibbs, Geraldine McIntosh, Masani Alexis DeVeaux and Namonyah Soipan. • By a widely published scholar, poet, and activist who has been interviewed by the press, television, and National Public Radio's All Things Considered From the last part of the twentieth century through today, African-American women have experienced a revival of spirituality and creative force, fashioning a uniquely African-American way to connect with the divine. In Soul Talk, Akasha Gloria Hull examines this multifaceted spirituality that has both fostered personal healing and functioned as a formidable weapon against racism and social injustice. Through fascinating and heartfelt conversations with some of today's most creative and powerful women--women whose spirituality encompasses, among others, traditional Christianity, Tibetan Buddhism, Native American teachings, meditation, the I Ching, and African-derived ancestral reverence--the author explores how this new spiritual consciousness is manifested, how it affects the women who practice it, and how its effects can be carried to others. Using a unique and readable blend of interviews, storytelling, literary critique, and practical suggestions of ways readers can incorporate similar renewal into their daily lives, Soul Talk shows how personal and social change are possible through reconnection with the spirit.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New Age and holistic beliefs and practices - sometimes called the "new spirituality" - are widely distributed across modern global society. The fluid and popular nature of new age makes these movements a very challenging field to understand using traditional models of religious analysis. Rather than treating new age as an exotic specimen on the margins of 'proper' religion, "New Age Spirituality" examines these movements as a form of everyday or lived religion. The book brings together an international range of scholars to explore the key issues: insight, healing, divination, meditation, gnosis, extraordinary experiences, and interactions with gods, spirits and superhuman powers. Combining discussion of contemporary beliefs and practices with cutting-edge theoretical analysis, the book repositions new age spirituality at the forefront of the contemporary study of religion.

In the Greater Community, the idea of God must be translatable from one society to another where the customs and the rituals, the ideas and the areas of specific application will be unique to each world’s spiritual awareness and devotional practices. All that can be translated is the pure experience of Knowledge—the experience of Universal Mind, profound awareness and total relationship. This is the experience which will be presented in this book—an experience of translatable spirituality that is shared between intelligent life everywhere. Its application is universal. Its experience is universal. Its communication is universal. The direction that it establishes for sentient beings everywhere is universal. Greater Community Spirituality encompasses a larger panorama of life and includes all that has been created here and beyond, in all dimensions, in all frameworks. So complete is it that you cannot fathom its Mystery, exhaust its Wisdom or penetrate its Knowledge. But you can be the recipient of these things, and you can translate them into your own experience and apply them here at great benefit to yourself and to others. The world is now emerging into a Greater Community of Worlds. Therefore, it is necessary for Greater Community Spirituality to be presented here to enable humanity to prepare mentally, emotionally and spiritually for the great change that is coming and the great opportunities that this change represents. To learn about the Greater Community, you must learn of its reality. This, then, is a blessing: that you may receive a Greater reality, a Greater religion and a Greater God.

Book excerpt: Eckhart Tolle is emerging as one of today's most inspiring teachers. In The Power of Now, already a word-of-mouth bestseller in Canada, the author describes his transition from despair to self-realization soon after his 29th birthday. Tolle took another ten years to understand this transformation, during which time he evolved a philosophy that has parallels in Buddhism, relaxation techniques, and meditation theory but is also eminently practical. In The Power of Now he shows readers how to recognize themselves as the creators of their own pain, and how to have a pain-free existence by living fully in the present. Accessing the deepest self, the true self, can be learned, he says, by freeing ourselves from the conflicting, unreasonable demands of the mind and living present, fully, and intensely, in the Now.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The natural, normal life is by a law divine under the guidance of the Spirit. The higher insights and powers of the soul, always potential within, become of value only as they are realized and used. To follow the higher leadings of the soul, which is so constituted that it is the inlet, and as a consequence the outlet of Divine Spirit, Creative Energy, the real source of all wisdom and power; to project its leadings into every phase of material activity and endeavor, constitutes the ideal life. Such it might be said is the key-note to this new volume by Mr. Trine. In the four chapters beginning, "Jesus the Supreme Exponent of the Higher Forces and Powers," there is presented a new life of the Master. The author's other books have had a far-reaching influence in bringing about a mental and spiritual awakening in many lives. In this new volume this same purpose is carried still further; and he portrays the new spiritual awakening that is showing itself in every phase of life today, that is bringing about radical changes in thought, in moral values and standards.

Book excerpt: "For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discover the thoughts and intents of the heart" (Heb. 4:12). The peril of the believer is to confuse the spirit for the soul and the soul for the spirit, and so be deceived into accepting the counterfeit of evil spirits to the unsettling of God's work. The greatest advantage in knowing the difference between spirit and soul is perceiving the latent power of the soul and in understanding its falsification of the power of the Holy Spirit. Such knowledge is not theoretical but practical in helping people to walk in God's way. In this book, Watchman Nee shares his insight on The Latent Power of The Soul, The Christian and Psychic Force, and Spirit Force vs Psychic Force. Nowadays the atmosphere is so charged with the commotion of all kinds of counterfeit that the Lord seems to be calling the Church to come to a higher ground. Today's situation is perilous. May we "prove all things; hold fast that which is good" (1Thes. 5:21)

This book was released on 2017-03-10 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "On Life and Love and Why We Are Here" is intended to be an introduction to the combination of a) the concepts developed at the leading edge of many sciences and b) the new spirituality attempts to redefine what the Why questions of Religions were, before the bureaucracies of Religion debased them for the secular power of their corporate organization. The book is actually part of the authors search for Who he is, Why he is here, What this journey is all about and When he will know that he is on the right path for his journey. It is intended, as well, to be of help to others who are starting a search to find the answers to those same questions. Humanity is evolving from a fear-based Homo sapiens, the thinking humankind, to a love-based Homo spiritus, the loving humankind. It is likely that we humans turned the corner, spiritual-power-wise, in 2012, although that was not widely publicized. In any case there is now a critical number of humans who make love and loving their main point in life and the effect will expand exponentially over the next few decades. Love trumps fear every time. The book presents a series of sayings that came to the author as he fell asleep or woke up, plus one page of commentary on those sayings. The reader is challenged to take, from what is presented, only those things that will make the reader a better person - that choice is to be between them and their maker, however such a creator is defined by them. The reader is also challenged to determine whether or not they can see different meanings in the sayings, as well as determine whether or not they want to make the understanding that they get from the sayings a new part of their life, or an essential part of their new life. The central message is based on an understanding of Jesus Christ's explaining who God was, and what He was like. Since the Holy Spirit was sent to us, and our God is a good and loving and compassionate God, and we were made in His /Her image, we are little packets of God and have significant spiritual power when we come to terms with that awesome reality. Those with power and money, including churches, do not want us to realize that we are eternal spiritual beings having a human experience. The human journey, or human school, is uniquely set up for us to learn about our weak areas, strengthen them through love and then let the frightened part just float away. Everyone we meet has some help to give us, if only in how to deal with negativity and fear-based hate or anger. The point is made that the Old Testament if the Christian Bible is a history lesson that helps us understand who Jesus Christ was and why he had to come to tell us a better story about who God was and what that God was really like. If we can become unconditionally loving in this journey there are still several levels to climb to make it to the point where our bodies can no longer contain our level of spiritual power and we, too, would have to leave this plane. From those who have gone before, each step is scary, but each is also worth the effort. The book included a list of contact points for teachers who have more to offer than this author has, as well as a section in the author's web site, http: //spiritloves.com, with an extended bibliography of their work.
