Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The great need of the church, today, and of human society as a whole, is a genuine, God-sent revival. It is either revival or revolution, and a revolution that will plunge human society and civilization into chaos and utter confusion. It is a time of wide-spread apostasy. This may be the last apostasy from which we will be saved by the return of our Lord Jesus to this earth to take the reins of government into His own thoroughly competent hands. That would, of course, be the greatest and most glorious of all revivals, and a revival that would never end. But we do not know that this is the final apostasy. There have been more thoroughgoing and appalling apostasies in the past than this one is at the present hour. The apostasy in England in the time of the Wesleys, and in America at the time of Jonathan Edwards, was far more complete than the present apostasy is. The apostasy in this country at the opening of the nineteenth century was far more appalling, at least as regards university life, than the apostasy of today. It was the revival under the Wesleys and their associates that saved the church and saved civilization in their day. Even so thoroughgoing a rationalist as Lecky, the historian, admits that it was the revival under the Wesleys that saved civilization in England. And it was the Great Awakening under the leadership of Jonathan Edwards and others that saved the church in America. Our sorest need today is a deep, thoroughgoing. Spirit-wrought, God-sent revival. Such revivals as far as man’s agency is concerned always come in one way— by prayer."

Very few religious books have been so widely circulated. Few have been attended. With so evident and extended usefulness. Immediately upon its publication it was read in the churches and prayer-meetings and families in various parts of this country, and revivals of religion, with many conversions, followed. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Long before the megachurch, nearly 6,000 people crowded every service to hear Charles Spurgeon. Discover why his masterful preaching astonished his era! Considered by his peers then and now as "The Prince of Preachers", Charles Spurgeon built London's Metropolitan Tabernacle into the world's largest independent congregation during the nineteenth century. While many factors have been highlighted that help explain the effectiveness of Spurgeon's preaching, the foremost secret that empowered Charles Spurgeon was his devotion to prayer. When people would walk through the Metropolitan Tabernacle, Spurgeon would take them to the basement prayer room where people were always on their knees interceding for the church. Then Spurgeon would declare, "Here is the powerhouse of this church. That statement is backed by the amazing number of sermons that Spurgeon preached on prayer. Spurgeon was a great believer and teacher in passionate, Holy Spirit-directed prayer. His word pictures of the majestic throne of grace that God calls believers to be privileged to come before is well worth the price of the book alone. You will be inspired and challenged in your prayer life, especially if you experience struggles in prayer.

Book excerpt: Excerpt from Getting Things From God: A Study of the Prayer Life This was the petition of disciples who came to Jesus, desiring that He would aid them in this matter. He did not refuse the help they asked. He told them how to pray and He told them what great things even a small bit of faith would accomplish, if they really prayed. When you pray, say: 'our Father.' If you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you can overturn mountains or pluck up trees by the roots. This is the teaching of our Lord. It is obvious that the force which is to accomplish such results is a world-moving one. It is not a tri ing power, but a power that can shake and destroy and build up. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Taking Hold of God Studies on the Nature, Need and Power of Prayer WE believe that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow and that He alone who taught his early disciples can also teach us how to pray. We believe that prayer is a great reality; that prayer changes things that prayer, if a lost art, is lost only for those who have lost the consciousness of God. Therefore we begin with the Name which is above every name and in the chapters that follow, will strive to bring every thought into captivity to the Obedience Of Christ. Among these signs, the conjecture that telepathy may possibly afford some clue to one aspect at least of the mysterious power exercised by prayer, is welcomed by the philosophically-religious mind as a new ground of expectation; and it finds no difficulty in agreeing with Sir Oliver Lodge that.
