Book excerpt: WARNING: This book contains material of a CONTROVERSIAL nature relating to what is taught in Christianity today. Now, if controversy scares you, stop reading here. Really. It means this book is NOT FOR YOU. "May people know that you, whose name is JEHOVAH, You alone are the Most High over all the earth."--PSALMS 83:18 Today, many still believe that the divine name of God should not be used, because it is not known exactly how to pronounce it. The Tetragrammaton (YHWH) derived from a verb that means "I Will Become what I choose to become", "I Will Become whatsoever I please", "I Shall Be what I am", or "I Am that I am." The most widely accepted pronunciation of The Tetragrammaton (YHWH) is Yahweh or (JEHOVAH). For centuries, most scholars of the Holy Scriptures have known that the Holy Scriptures have been misused and abused, not only by the translators, but also by the early scribes. The mistranslation of the Holy Scriptures has caused the TRUE WORK, which the prophets spoke of, to be hidden in most translations of the Scriptures. This has been damaging to those who are searching for THE TRUTH about God's word and his purposes for mankind. However, the most damaging error in Christianity today is the error of removing GOD'S name from the Bible. The personal name of God has been replaced with titles such as "Father," "Creator," "the Almighty," "Sovereign Lord," and "the Most High." At some point the Jews felt that it was wrong even to pronounce the divine name. Some thought the name was too sacred for imperfect lips to speak. Yet God's name JEHOVAH appears nearly 7,000 times in the Hebrew text; printed in Biblia Hebraica and Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia. Can using God's name change your life? Yes it can! In the pages of "The Power of God's Name Jehovah," you'll learn these 2 profound truths. "The name of JEHOVAH is a strong tower. Into it the righteous one runs and receives protection."-PROVERBS 8:16 "By me princes keep ruling, And nobles judge in righteousness. I love those loving me, And those seeking me will find me. Riches and glory are with me, Lasting wealth and righteousness."-PROVERBS 8:16-18 Now you can take all the guesswork out of Christianity, and learn first-hand, why God's name has been hidden from most translations of the Bible. Within these pages you'll learn how you can use the power of God's name in every aspect of your life -- money, health, relationships, happiness, and in every interaction you have in the world. You'll begin to understand the hidden, untapped power behind the name and how hundreds of ethnic groups and languages have overcome obstacles, and achieved what many would regard as impossible. You'll understand just about everything that's happening in your own life as well as in the lives of those you're interacting with. With JEHOVAH'S power you can be, do, or have anything that you desire! "You open your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. Jehovah is righteous in all his ways and loyal in all that he does. Jehovah is near to all those calling on him, To all who call on him in truth."-PSALMS 145:16-18 (LINK TO BONUS AUDIO & VIDEO SHOWCASE INCLUDED INSIDE)

Book excerpt: A controversial national best seller upon its initial publication, The Book of J is an audacious work of literary restoration revealing one of the great narratives of all time and unveiling its mysterious author. J is the title that scholars ascribe to the nameless writer they believe is responsible for the text, written between 950 and 900 BCE, on which Genesis, Exodus, and Numbers is based. In The Book of J, accompanying David Rosenberg's translation, Harold Bloom persuasively argues that J was a woman--very likely a woman of the royal house at King Solomon's court--and a writer of the stature of Homer, Shakespeare, and Tolstoy. Rosenberg's translations from the Hebrew bring J's stories to life and reveal her towering originality and grasp of humanity. Bloom argues in several essays that "J" was not a religious writer but a fierce ironist. He also offers historical context, a discussion of the theory of how the different texts came together to create the Bible, and translation notes.

His experience of living for a time in Latin American and witnessing extensive social and political oppression appears to have moved him profoundly. The end result is a book that is a model of the attempt to integrate scholarship with faith.'--Clinton E. Arnold, Catalyst

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To pursue the matter of revelation in context, I will address an exceedingly difficult text in the Old Testament, Joshua 11. The reason for taking up this text is to deal with the often asked and troublesome question: What shall we do with all the violence and bloody war that is done in the Old Testament in the name of Yahweh? The question reflects a sense that these texts of violence are at least an embarrassment, are morally repulsive, and are theologically problematic in the Bible, not because they are violent, but because this is violence either in the name of or at the hand of Yahweh. -from chapter 2

This book, drawn from the heart of foremost Old Testament theologian Walter Brueggemann's Theology of the Old Testament, distills a career's worth of insights into the core message of the Hebrew Bible. God is described there, Brueggemann observes, as engaging four "partners" in the divine purpose. This volume presents Brueggeman at his most engaging, offering profound insights tailored especially for the beginning student of the Hebrew Bible.

Book excerpt: The author uses a literary-theological approach to argue that the main theme of the combined Gideon-Abimelech narrative is a theological one, where the narrator demonstrates Yahweh's supreme power and contrasts it with the absence of Baal, the representative of foreign gods. While the Gideon narrative focuses on Yahweh and the illustration of his power and contrasts it with Gideon's limited capacities, the Abimelech narrative demonstrates Baal's absence, Baalism's disastrous potential, and Yahweh's continued control over the events. Hence Gideon's victory over the Midianites and Abimelech's kingship serve only as the tangible instruments by which a single abstract theological theme becomes narratable.

Book excerpt: Amidst various methodologies for the comparative study of the Hebrew Bible, at times the opportunity arises to improve on a method recently introduced into the field. In YHWH is King, Flynn uses the anthropological method of cultural translation to study diachronic change in YHWH’s kingship. Here, such change is compared to a similar Babylonian development to Marduk’s kingship. Based on that comparison and informed by cultural translation, Flynn discovers that Judahite scribes suppressed the earlier YHWH warrior king and promoted a creator/universal king in order to combat the increasing threat of Neo-Assyrian imperialism. Flynn thus opens the possibility, that Judahite scribes engaged in a cultural translation of Marduk to YHWH, in order to respond to the mounting Neo-Assyrian presence.

Book excerpt: No issues touch us more profoundly or universally,' writes Richard Foster. 'No topics cause more controversy. No human realities have greater power to bless or curse. No three things have been more sought after or are more in need of a Christian response.' Money, Sex and Power discerns the biblical principles that enable us to live out a relevant and authentic response to the three greatest temptations of our age. Gerard Kelly writes: 'Foster follows a road few in recent years have travelled, and does so with depth, wit and down-to-earth wisdom. Don't assume for one moment that this book is anti-money, anti-sex or anti-power: the author has a healthy respect and admiration for all three as sacred gifts of a loving creator. What he does urge us to do, though, is to "live rightly" in respect of these key ares, and so to be freed into a life of creative celebration.'

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This masterly book is the climax of over twenty-five years of study of the impact of Canaanite religion and mythology on ancient Israel and the Old Testament. It is John Day's magnum opus in which he sets forth all his main arguments and conclusions on the subject. The work considers in detail the relationship between Yahweh and the various gods and goddesses of Canaan, including the leading gods El and Baal, the great goddesses (Asherah, Astarte and Anat), astral deities (Sun, Moon and Lucifer), and underworld deities (Mot, Resheph, Molech and the Rephaim). Day assesses both what Yahwism assimilated from these deities and what it came to reject. More generally he discusses the impact of Canaanite polytheism on ancient Israel and how monotheism was eventually achieved.

Book excerpt: The story of Adam, Eve, "God" and "the Serpent" in the Garden of Eden is the true story of the miserable life we live as human beings on this earth. But our understanding of the fateful events in Eden had been solidly formed by the falsified mind-bending "Bible stories" we were told as children by parents and church ministers. And even as adults, organized religion still tells us the same illogical fables and somehow most of us have continued to reason and understand these crucial events that totally control our lives as children, despite the fact that they do not agree with common sense. So, "What is the Truth?" Jesus Christ came specifically to bear witness to the truth; Yahweh the god of Eden had him killed through his religious agents, who continue to muffle the truth and to mislead humanity. But The Final Testaments offers the true definition of the events in Eden. The Fall of the Human Souls; the Actual Original Sin; the Actual Genesis of this World; the Diabolic Nature of Yahweh the God of Eden; the Actual Antichrist or the Expected "Immanuel"; Who really Killed Jesus Christ-all these and more are authoritatively revealed.
