The United States is a fist country, a big-stick country, a tiger country. The greatest danger in the world today is the hegemonism and anti-pacifism of the United States, and whether the United States will go to militarism. The goal of strengthening and revitalizing the armed forces in China is to build the world’s first strong military. Xi Jinping’s military thoughts guide the great cause of strengthening and revitalizing the armed forces in China. Xi Jinping era is an era when Chinese military forces quickly pursue and surpass the United States. Only when China is stronger than the United States, can China be secure, can the United States follow the rules, and can the world be more peaceful. Over the next 20 years, China will surpass the United States in military power.
Book Synopsis The Chinese People’s Liberation Army since 1949 by : Benjamin Lai
Download or read book The Chinese People’s Liberation Army since 1949 written by Benjamin Lai and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2012-11-20 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) is the largest army in the world. China is predicted to be on the brink of overtaking the USA as the world's largest economy, and China's military capabilities and global ambitions are the single greatest long-term pre-occupation of Western governments. The PLA has progressed steadily – if slowly – since its creation in 1949, from a mass army of unsophisticated infantry limited to 'human wave' tactics into a highly sophisticated force with wide capabilities. The most recent reforms (1989 to the present day) have been made possible by massive economic liberalization, and have seen not only the modernization of all the armed forces but the beginnings of global outreach, even including Chinese participation in UN peace-keeping missions to Africa, the Middle East, and Haiti. Featuring rare photographs and specially commissioned color artwork, this study explores the developing structure, organization, equipment, appearance, and character of the Chinese People's Liberation Army from its creation until today.
Book Synopsis A History of the Modern Chinese Army by : Xiaobing Li
Download or read book A History of the Modern Chinese Army written by Xiaobing Li and published by University Press of Kentucky. This book was released on 2007-06-01 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the establishment of the Red Army in 1927, China’s military has responded to profound changes in Chinese society, particularly its domestic politics, shifting economy, and evolving threat perceptions. Recently tensions between China and Taiwan and other east Asian nations have aroused great interest in the extraordinary transformation and new capabilities of the Chinese army. In A History of the Modern Chinese Army, Xiaobing Li, a former member of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), provides a comprehensive examination of the PLA from the Cold War to the beginning of the twenty-first century that highlights the military’s central function in modern Chinese society. In the 1940s, the Chinese army was in its infancy, and many soldiers were rural conscripts and volunteers who had received little formal schooling. The Chinese military rapidly increased its mobility and weapon strength, and the Korean War and Cold War offered intense combat experience that not only allowed soldiers to hone their fighting techniques but also helped China to develop military tactics tailored to the surrounding countries whose armies posed the most immediate threats. Yet even in the 1970s, the completion of a middle school education (nine years) was considered above-average, and only 4 percent of the 224 top Chinese generals had any college credit hours. However, in 1995 the high command began to institute massive reforms to transform the PLA from a labor-intensive force into a technology-intensive army. Continually seeking more urban conscripts and emphasizing higher education, the PLA Reserve Officer Training and Selection program recruited students from across the nation. These reservists would become commissioned officers upon graduation, and they majored in atomic physics, computer science, and electrical engineering. Grounding the text in previously unreleased official Chinese government and military records as well as the personal testimonies of more than two hundred PLA soldiers, Li charts the development of China’s armed forces against the backdrop of Chinese society, cultural traditions, political history, and recent technological advancements. A History of the Modern Chinese Army links China’s military modernization to the country’s growing international and economic power and provides a unique perspective on China’s esttablishment and maintenance of one of the world’s most advanced military forces.

The challenge for U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM) is to understand how China will employ this growing military capability in support of its interests. Download or read book Chinese Military Reform in the Age of Xi Jinping: Drivers, Challenges, and Implications written by Joel Wuthnow and published by Government Printing Office. This book was released on with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) has embarked on its most wide-ranging and ambitious restructuring since 1949, including major changes to most of its key organizations. The restructuring reflects the desire to strengthen PLA joint operation capabilities- on land, sea, in the air, and in the space and cyber domains. The reforms could result in a more adept joint warfighting force, though the PLA will continue to face a number of key hurdles to effective joint operations, Several potential actions would indicate that the PLA is overcoming obstacles to a stronger joint operations capability. The reforms are also intended to increase Chairman Xi Jinping's control over the PLA and to reinvigorate Chinese Communist Party (CCP) organs within the military. Xi Jinping's ability to push through reforms indicates that he has more authority over the PLA than his recent predecessors. The restructuring could create new opportunities for U.S.-China military contacts.

Book Synopsis Through The Storm(Volume 1) by : YU Ruxin
Download or read book Through The Storm(Volume 1) written by YU Ruxin and published by Bouden House. This book was released on 2024-07-20 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mao Zedong once famously said, “Power grows from the barrel of a gun,” and a prime example is the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). With the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the PLA’s mandate extended beyond safeguarding national security to maintaining domestic order and keeping the Chinese Communist Party in power. In the 1960s and 1970s, the PLA was Mao’s chief instrument in preparing, launching and further developing the Cultural Revolution, but its role was complex and often opaque. Through the Storm meticulously traces the PLA’s role through archival research and interviews with retired cadres and officers to show that the military’s role in the Cultural Revolution has been historically understated, and that it eclipsed that of the more high-profile civilian Red Guards in both scale and duration. With its Chinese edition hailed in media and academia as an “exceptionally valuable” achievement, this book’s condensed English edition offers international readers a deeper understanding of the PLA’s role in launching and perpetuating the most sustained and violent campaign in modern Chinese history.

Book Synopsis The Chinese Military System by : Harvey W Nelsen
Download or read book The Chinese Military System written by Harvey W Nelsen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-07-11 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To understand the Chinese military, and thereby the dynamics of China’s peacetime army, one must understand its organizational system. To that end, Harvey Nelsen has written a book that examines in detail the entire organization of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA). Dr. Nelsen studies the PLA from top to bottom. Throughout, he challenges the widely held theory that military politics in China are largely determined by personal relations among officers and that the PLA is more a civic-action army than are most military organizations. Important as a purely military study, this book is valuable also for the light it sheds on the whole of Chinese bureaucratic politics. This second edition has been revised to reflect changes that have occurred since the death of Chairman Mao as well as to incorporate new information about the Chinese military and political system during Mao’s reign.
