Book excerpt: I almost never spent time thinking about money or being rich, but one day, for some reason, I just let my mind wander more than usual and wondered what would happen if some plain, everyday sort of guy would suddenly find that he was rich beyond belief! Peaceful Valley is about a kid named Abalardo Edwardo Marlow. His father, an Irish/English, was a horse doctor officer in the US Cavalry. His mother was full-blooded Native American Indian. After losing both his parents at an early age, he lived alone in a shack using the survival skills his mother had taught him with Indian know-how. This is not a very original idea, probably used hundreds of times before. But I figured it might be fun to work into a short story. So I sat down at the table with an old tablet and a pen. Once I started, I couldn't stop! Everything seemed to fall into place, even the characters and their names.

Book excerpt: Bill Pronzini’s riveting western mystery, The Peaceful Valley Crime Wave, takes on the modern world with old-fashioned violence--and his Peaceful Valley is anything but... Nothing much happens in Peaceful Valley, Montana. And that’s just how Sheriff Lucas Monk likes it. Aside from the occasional drunken brawl or minor disturbance out on the reservation, he hasn’t had to resort to his fists or sidearm in years. That is, until mid-October, 1914, when the theft of a wooden cigar store Indian sets off a crime wave like nothing Lucas has ever seen. Teenager Charity Axthelm goes missing, Reba Purvis’s housekeeper is poisoned with cyanide Reba is sure was meant for her, and Lucas’s gut tells him that this is only the beginning. It’s not long before the first corpse shows up, bringing the peace in the valley to a thundering end. Book Synopsis The Plot of Peaceful Valley by : George Wills

Book excerpt: From 1989 to 1991, George Roland Wills wrote five women's fiction novels, each one over 400 pages in manuscript length. This novel, THE PLOT OF PEACEFUL VALLEY, was the first one. It was also the first actual novel that George ever wrote, and completed, in its original version; the first time that his personal muse had ever been able to complete an actual storyline in his mind. It took him six months to complete this first book, just as it took six months each to complete all of his other four books, as well. And these would be the only full length series of novels that he would ever write. He did not write his next work of any serious length until he wrote the novella, TO SIR, WITH LOVE in 2009, some eighteen years later. This published version is the actual original unpublished verson of that book, warts and all. It is from their original (IBM Selectric II) unpublished manuscript typing, and is the original and unedited first draft of each of those four books. George originally did not publish his books in writing, but on audio cassette tapes that he called WHEEL NOVELS. He developed a method for gluing the cassette boxes together in such a way as to make them open like a brick book, with art on the first cover, and each cassette tape's position in sequence thereafter. This was back in the day when the only people who read audiobooks were the sight impaired. All five of these Wheel Novels were read onto tape, and sold by George Roland Wills back in the early nineties. Today, those five original book recordings are available to hear for free, in their original entirety, on CaptBeauregards Channel on YOUTUBE. This is George's Youtube channel for his documentaries and motion pictures of today. This is a futuristic book written back in 1989, in the days before the internet, cell phones, and social media. Some of it, such as the legalization of marijuana, actually came to pass. The computer chipping of each song is now called an MP3 file. The retro-craze in the automotive industry also seems to have come to pass, as well. The use of an interactive phone message where questions may be asked and answered is now a fact, as well. The heavy metal band Judas Priest also seems to have lived up to the novel's expectations. As to the cryogenic oygenation procedure known as CRY-OX, well, they are still working on similar methods to this day.George's five books were along these lines; the futuristic book (this one, THE PLOT OF PEACEFUL VALLEY), The contemporary "kidnapping in the snow" story (THE MASTER OF THE LOST AND FOUND), a book about a movie being made about this very first book (THE UNDERSTUDY OF THE SCARLET SCRIPT), a western (THE PURSUIT OF SUNDOWN), and an inverse kidnap story to prevent child abuse (THE FLIGHT OF THE BORN TO RUN). Each of the four other stories has the same sort of structure as this one; a RACHEL and a CHARLOTTE styled set of characters, with different names, who form the basis of a dominant-recessive female bond which usually pits itself against a perceived "lone wolf male" bad guy, who may or may not be the antagonist, at all.

Book excerpt: This is a book of negotiation stories that apply techniques Dr. Klatt has learned since 1972, the year he began his career as a professional real estate licensee negotiator. They are techniques that were learned in the School of Hard Knocks, the best learning place of all. This book is not intended to be a complete presentation of all areas of negotiation, negotiation practice, or negotiation theory. It is intentionally short on theory and long on stories. It is so much easier (and more fun) to remember stories than theory, and if you remember the story you will be able to work back to the theory. It is a book written for real estate agents, law students, attorneys, mediators, and anyone else for whom negotiations are central to their career. In a sense, this means that this book has been written for us all. For we are all professional negotiators. Dr. Klatt was a strapping San Diego City lifeguard, excellent athlete, competitive surfer, ambidextrous tennis player, and drag racing champion before an accident robbed him of his sight. That was an event that could have broken the spirit of lesser men. Instead, Dr. Klatt turned his physical short-coming into a vector for professional excellence. He went on to sell a portfolio of property that has a present collective value that is easily worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and he did it all without ever laying sight upon one single inch of the property that he sold. This book is his method.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Book Megan is a ten-year-old biracial girl growing up in a small town in the southeastern corner of Washington state in the early 1960s. Megan has the usual struggles of growing up that most children have, but her concerns are complicated with the reality that she is half-Japanese and half-white. She also struggles with one concern that is unique to her, understanding why her mother, Hitomi, is overly protective and hovering, so different from the mothers of her friends. The mystery grows when she discovers her sister, a sister she never knew existed until she finds pictures of her mother standing with a little Asian girl she had never seen before in front of a drab and desolate looking building somewhere in an empty and arid landscape. On the back of the picture is written, “Minidoka, 1943”. My Mother Told Me Stories is a heart wrenching story of loss, tragedy, and one woman’s journey through the shadows of despair. But it is also a story of surprising kindness, generosity, and friendship; of forgiveness and reconciliation; and the enduring love of family. About the Author I. M. Ramsey has worked in a variety of roles in counseling, teaching, and administration at the collegiate level and feels very fortunate to have spent her entire professional career in academia. Her primary research interest has focused on the impact of empathy and forgiveness and the relational dynamics between perpetrators and those who extend forgiveness to them. This is her first novel with the story based upon the themes found in her South African research of political perpetrators who received empathy and forgiveness from family members of their victims. I. M. Ramsey lives in Washington state and enjoys spending time with her husband, their daughters, sons-in-law, and three grandsons, a.k.a. “the three scampering squirrels”.
