Book excerpt: For several months starting February 1, 2011, I committed myself to sitting at my computer once each day after meditation for the purpose of opening my mind and energy to receive information. I had no way of knowing what would come through these sessions or where the information would lead me. But I felt compelled—body, mind, and spirit—to commit myself to this endeavor. The Open Door Manuscript is the result of that focus.

He is hardly surpised that his only clue is a radical student with four bullets in his chest. The cops are ready to throw the book at the pretty blond coed whose prints are all over the murder weapon but Spenser knows there are no easy answers. He tackles some very heavy homework and knows that if he doesn't finish his assignment soon, he could end up marked “D”—for dead.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There has been little examination of the China policy of the Theodore Roosevelt administration. Works dealing with the topic fall either into brief discussions in biographies of Roosevelt, general surveys of Sino-American relations, or studies of special topics, such as the Chinese exclusion issue, which encompass a portion of the Roosevelt years. Moreover, the subject has been overshadowed somewhat by studies of problems between Japan and the United States in this era. The goal of this study is to offer a more complete examination of the American relationship with China during Roosevelt’s presidency. The focus will be on the discussion of major issues and concerns in the relationship of the two nations from the time Roosevelt took office until he left, something that this book does for the first time. Greater emphasis needs to be placed on creating a more complete picture of Teddy Roosevelt and China relations, especially in regard to his and his advisers’ perceptual framework of that region and its impact upon the making of China policy. The goal of this study is to begin that process. Special attention is paid to the question of how Roosevelt and the members of his administration viewed China, as it is believed that their viewpoints, which were prejudicial, were very instrumental in how they chose to deal with China and the question of the Open Door. The emphasis on the role of stereotyping gives the book a particularly unique point of view. Readers will be made aware of the difficulties of making foreign policy under challenging conditions, but also of how the attitudes and perceptions of policymakers can shape the direction that those policies can take. A critical argument of the book is that a stereotyped perception of China and its people inhibited American policy responses toward the Chinese state in Roosevelt’s Administration. While Roosevelt’s attitudes regarding white supremacy have been discussed elsewhere, a fuller consideration of how his views affected the making of foreign policy, particularly China policy, is needed, especially now that Sino-American relations today are of great concern.

Book excerpt: Glennall’s Betrayal: In Depression-era Odyssey, James Curtis runs away from home and joins a mysterious group of gypsies. Along the way, he is kidnapped and sold into slavery, where he meets a young man named Glennall. Together, James and Glennall journey to the capital in Marus and discover that there is a higher purpose to the random events of their lives. Based on the biblical story of Joseph, Glennall’s Betrayal models for the reader what it means to trust God in every circumstance and to forgive those who have wronged us. Any fan of Tolkien will appreciate this fantasy story, and with a new cover and interior graphics, it’s better than ever! Draven’s Defiance: While running through an old railroad tunnel, Scott Graham bumps his head, and suddenly finds himself in another world where time has stopped and he is expected to fulfill a purpose he knows nothing about—set for him by the Unseen One. In a wartime period resembling Nazi Germany, Scott must learn from a daring prophet and take a stand that will affect an entire nation—and his very life. Based on the biblical story of Elijah, Draven’s Defiance retells the story from a kid’s perspective, helping kids understand the themes and principles in God’s Word. Fendar’s Legacy: Danny, Michelle, and Wayne jump into a river and come out of the water to find themselves in a fountain in another land. When these three young travelers unexpectedly journey from Odyssey to Marus, two of them join forces with an exiled prince to free an oppressed people, while the other is enticed by the kingdom’s riches. Will the epic struggle lead to a terrible parting? Based on the biblical story of Moses, and written from a kid’s perspective, Fendar’s Legacy teaches about the freedom found in following God’s plan.

Book excerpt: With the threatened publication of 'The Voss Manuscripts', the 'Arms for Iraq' scandals of the 1980's and early 1990's return to haunt the newly-elected Labour Government. Geoffrey Voss, ex-Foreign Office Intelligence Liaison Officer, has decided to recount how he was recruited as an 'alongsider' for the Security Service 'MI5' and how he quickly discovered his mission had been compromised by those inside the establishment with deeply committed commercial interests. His revelations tell how misguided plots to subvert Iraq's ambitions came to destroy his agents placed within and outside the Iraqi procurement network. His efforts to make amends draw him ever deeper into the intrigue and danger surrounding the illicit arms dealing network, and the disappearance of vast sums of Iraq's oil revenues both before and after the 'First' Gulf War. But what or who is MIRAAYA and why does it have such a complete and dreadful hold on Geoffrey Voss; are Voss's revelations all they purport to be?
