The only human among a sea of clones. It’s been hundreds of years since humanity died off in the slow plague, leaving the clones behind to carry on human existence. Over time they’ve perfected their genes, moving further away from the imperfections of humanity. But if they really are perfect, why did they create Jack? While Jack longs for acceptance, Althea-310 struggles with the feeling that she’s different from her sisters. Her fascination with Jack doesn’t help. As Althea and Jack’s connection grows stronger, so does the threat to their lives. What will happen if they do the unthinkable and fall in love? “Like the works of Ursula K. LeGuin, inside this lyrically written, suspenseful tale is a deeply humane thematic core.”—Kirkus Reviews, starred Review “We fell for Jack and Althea’s romance, which is made to order for fans of The Giver, Delirium and Warm Bodies, because woven into this fast-paced and romantic sci-fi is a thoughtful look at what it really means to be human.”—Justine Magazine “A thought-provoking tale that explores conformity, individuality, and what it means to be human...With imaginative, vivid world building, this should appeal to fans of Lauren Oliver’s Replica.”—Booklist “Readers will feel fully immersed in this new reality. A great choice for lovers of postapocalyptic story lines.”—School Library Journal

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On the morning of 9 February 2014, when Sam Smith woke up and saw the four statuettes he’d taken home from the previous night’s Grammy Awards Ceremony, it must have felt like a dream come true. At only twenty-two years old and coming just eight months after the US release of his debut album, In the Lonely Hour, calling Sam Smith’s victory an ‘overnight success story’ seemed wholly appropriate. In fact, Sam had been working towards releasing his own music for over a decade and training his voice for even longer. After falling under the spell of Whitney Houston and Chaka Khan as a child, straining his voice to imitate them and match their incredible vocal ranges, tuition from a local jazz singer and time spent in a local theatre group and youth choir encouraged Sam to pursue singing as a career. But Sam’s first attempts to become a professional singer floundered and left him disillusioned and jaded. By the time he turned eighteen, Sam had seen six different managers come and go, he’d recorded a whole album’s worth of songs which were never released and he was beginning to think he’d never get his big break. Then in 2010, giving himself one more year to make it, Sam moved to London. After spending a year working full-time in a bar, a chance encounter with Elvin Smith, a fellow musician turned artist manager, changed Sam’s life forever. In just over eighteen months, Sam’s voice had featured on a number-one song and he was about to sign his own major label deal. The songs Sam wrote for his debut album would go on to capture the hearts of a massive international audience. Along the way there were celebrity friendships, number-one records, world tours and the inevitable press speculation about his personal life. In this revealing biography, Joe Allen charts the meteoric rise of Britain’s singing sensation. With his multi-platinum debut barely scratching the surface of what we can expect from Sam in the future, the next decade is sure to be as eventful as the last.

But news that her ex sold their land means she's heading back to reclaim her share of the property and the dreams she was forced to put on hold. Only one thing stands in her way now: a smoking hot cowboy. Sam Callahan is too busy trying to keep his new guest ranch afloat to spend any time on serious relationships-at least, that's what he tells himself. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I create the werewolf. It is a transformation; full blown and full out. It can be...very loveable & funny. You find yourself on his side, mostly. The male goes thru his evolution [its all very Jungian] wherein, also, he needs companionship, etc. This lead to his making friends. Tis a witch who kicks in the turn of events - to an evolution. He finds himself in the forest, where he evolves alone, but to the soothing lullaby of howls. He is allowed sightings of them - wolves; he is mesmerized to delight. One day he hears a fight that won't quit; the aftermath finds for his lonesome, the two wolves (who found themselves in trouble) to become his 'best friends for life'. No kidding. [This is not set in cartoon motif.] One day, a killer bear pops on the scene. The male takes the lead - only - to the dismay of his fate, the old witch spots him on that particular day in the rolling years of his evolution/exile. She is astounded at the outcome of (himself, the bear...yahta yahta) and must tell someone of her 'finding' and the success of such an evolution [she believes is all her doing, in her blackened heart}. She tells a professor of old money and suspicious reputation. Both are interested in the new valuable brutish property of seeming worthless intellect. This leads to the male getting captured. His capture is where his biggest evolution turns. The professor is an experimenting madman and chooses to theorize-to-execute with this capture. Strangely, then, he is given a name [from the book, not the professor] that will stay his legend for good. Nonetheless, the male continues the years out there until his destiny finds him. The ending - of his fate, only - brings out the moral and his evolution, in that: 'twas beauty in the end'. But that is not the true ending, the poem is. It is the history - of this male - who will be known in a single portrait (each) for the series, 'The Five Phoenix's'. Did I mention? Reincarnation, my dears. I'm alll about it!!

Book excerpt: In this book, Graeme Auld brings together his work relating to Samuel and the Former Prophets in an invaluable single volume. Including 'Prophets through the Looking Glass', which has been described as marking a paradigm shift in our thinking about the Bible's 'writing prophets', and which led the author to equally novel proposals about biblical narrative, the first part of this volume traces the route through the looking glass to his radical argument in Kings without Privilege (1994). The apparently straightforward, but actually controversial, claim is defended that the main source of the biblical books of Samuel-Kings and of Chronicles was simply the material common to both. The major portion of this volume of collected papers explores some of the fresh perspectives opened for reading the present books of Samuel, the books from Joshua to Kings as a whole, and the Pentateuch.
