Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The New Franklin Primer and First Reader This Primer recognizes the Word and Sentence Method in connection with Script, as a desirable way of giving children their first lessons in reading and writing. Some of the important features of the book may be briefly indicated. 1. Easy and careful gradation is a chief characteristic; short and easy steps and no long or hard ones. 2. Only a very few new words, - usually, from four to eight, are introduced in any lesson. In some of the later lessons this number is slightly exceeded. 3. The new words are placed at the head of the lesson in which they occur. As soon as these are learned so as to be known at sight, the child is ready to get the thought when they are joined with other words already mastered, and to read the sentences aloud intelligently. 4. Much thought has been given to the selection of words which are most profitable for beginners to acquire as a vocabulary. Such have been chosen as are in frequent use in ordinary speech and writing. The child hears others use them everyday, and uses them.himself, and therefore knows their meaning. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Download or read book Franklin's Big Book of Stories written by and published by Kids Can Press. This book was released on 2013-08-01 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This popular collection starring the lovable turtle Franklin includes six first readers: Franklin and the Scooter, Franklin and the Contest, Franklin and the Bubble Gum, Franklin and the Stopwatch, Franklin and the Magic Show and Franklin and the Cookies. In each story, Franklin faces a unique problem common to the everyday lives and experiences of young children. Whether it's an overwhelming desire to get a scooter of his own, a dilemma over what to do when he inadvertently ?steals? all the bubble gum from a machine or the conflicting desire to eat all of his cookies while also wanting to share them with others, Franklin faces up to each situation with honesty, a generous spirit and a lot of ingenuity. With his good friends Bear, Fox, Beaver and Rabbit nearby to lend a hand, Franklin always manages to find a terrific and age-appropriate happy ending to his dilemma, teaching children that no problem is ever too big to resolve. Crafted for early readers, the stories all contain short sentences, and every page has clear, easy-to-follow illustrations, which provide contextual clues to any words children may stumble over. Each story begins with the same two sentences --- ?Franklin can tie his shoes. Franklin can count by twos.? --- helping to build reading confidence through repetition. A favorite from books and the beloved television show Franklin and Friends, the familiar characters in these stories are widely appealing, making this a comfortable choice for new readers.

Book Synopsis The Mad Mick: Book One of the Mad Mick Series by : Franklin Horton
Download or read book The Mad Mick: Book One of the Mad Mick Series written by Franklin Horton and published by Mad Mick. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Rock-solid characters, buzz-saw action and backstories deserving of books of their own. Amazing..." Conor Maguire nearly lost his daughter Barb when she was three years old, injured by the drunk driver that killed his wife. When the justice system failed him, Conor -- the son and grandson of IRA bombers -- retaliated against the driver in dramatic and gruesome fashion. While an ironclad alibi prevented the police from pinning the murder on Conor, it did not prevent a covert agency within the US government from recruiting the talented young bomber and machinist. For over twenty-five years, Conor designed and built custom weapons of death and destruction at his compound in the mountains of Virginia. Then a series of devastating terror attacks brought down the United States. Conor and Barb assumed they were safe in their secure compound. They had food and a water source. They were armed and highly-trained. Then Barb was kidnapped. The kidnappers, needing slave labor for their farm, didn't know why Conor was known as The Mad Mick. They didn't know the fear and respect his name invoked in the shadowy world of covert operations. They didn't know that when it came to protecting his family, he was without conscience, without compassion, and without equal. But they would soon find out.
