Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is becoming clear that the church of the modern world is losing (or has already lost) its perceived value among the general populace. There have been many theories proposed that try to explain the reason for this decline in value, ranging from the church's need to be more relevant, to the necessity of return to authentic community. If the church is to become valuable again then we must return to a more substantive theology, one that helps people, both individually and collectively, to better understand Christian spiritual growth by explaining what the process of growing toward spiritual maturity has historically looked like. What the world needs is a church that is irrelevant...one that breaks the worldly cycles of selfishness, selfism, and entitlement and offers an alternative to the meaningless quest for self-deification. If we are to make a difference in the world again, then we must stop trying to make disciples who follow Christ, and begin making disciples who know Christ.

Book excerpt: "The Mystic Christ is an ancient tale of mystic union, salvation, and enlightenment. It is the careful uncovering of a lost treasure of immeasurable value, long buried in the suffocating darkness of conventional orthodoxy on one side, and blind fundamentalist extremism on the other. From the viewpoint of the world's mystical religious traditions, the brilliant light of the Master's way is revealed as a penetrating radical non-duality unifying all people and all of life. His path to this all-embracing unity is the spiritual practice of pure selfless love. Love God intensely, love our neighbor as our own Self, bless those that curse us, and pray for those that mistreat us. Love has been lost, becoming nothing more than a word in the dictionary and, yet, it remains the foundation of Jesus' message."

Book excerpt: This book challenges experiential, esoteric and colloquial understandings of mysticism by bringing a fresh relevance to the term through an interdisciplinary dialogue between literature, mysticism and theology in the context of postmodernity. In order to achieve this, the author takes selected writings of Iris Murdoch, Denise Levertov and Annie Dillard, and incorporates them into various stages of a redesigned mystic way. The fourteenth-century mystic Julian of Norwich is invoked throughout as a role model whom these three writers seek to emulate as popular writers, contemplatives and theologians. As theologians who are concerned with the pressing issues of our age, Grace Jantzen, Dorothee Soelle and Sallie McFague are drawn on as conversation partners to complete the three-way discussion. The author maintains that understanding the writing and reading of creative texts in the context of practical mysticism facilitates an integrated approach to the use of literature for theological expression.

Book excerpt: Phoebe Palmer's honour was lost posthumously, for within a few decades after her death her name all but disappeared. Palmer's sanctification theology was separated from its apophatic spiritual moorings, even as her memory was lost. To this day the Motherof the Holiness Movement still awaits her place of recognition as a Christian mystic equal to Catherine of Siena, Teresa of Avila, or Therese of Lisieux. This book locates Palmer's life and thought within the great Christian mystical traditions, identifying her importance within Methodism and the church universal. It also presents a Wesleyan theological framework for understanding and valuing Christian mysticism, while connecting it with the larger mystical traditions in Catholic, Anglican, and Orthodox communions. While Palmer was a powerful revivalist in her own day, in many ways she could be the patron saint for contemporary Methodists who are drawn to the new monasticism and who long for the renewal of the church. Saint Phoebe is precisely the one who can help Methodists envision new forms of Christian community, mission, and witness in a postmodern world.

This book was released on 2012-11 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Yeshua is the real name of Jesus... so what does Yeshua mean? We call Yeshua Jesus due to Greek translations and an replacement of Y with J. Yeshua is the original Hebrew name of Jesus Christ who originally taught that mystic christianity is the way to Christ Consciousness Yeshua is the more common spelling of Yehoshuah which means God is Salvation. Aramaic was the language spoken by the original Jews and Jesus the Christ was a title meaning the anointed. More importantly, Jesus taught that Christ Consciousness was a mystic path to Truth attainable by all when he stated "The Kingdom Of God Is Within You " This book, inspired by William Walker Atkinson, begs the question: "Will the REAL Jesus Please Stand Up?" Most know Jesus Christ's true name is Yeshua and no historical figure has been more studied, scrutinized and examined. Yet most of what we have learned has been told strictly through the written works of the Bible. Many Christians today take this book to be the written word of God. However, anyone who has truly studied history and the Bible know that much has been altered and misinterpreted over time through language translations and the intentional "revisions" of church priests, Caesars and councilmen with less than best intentions. This book about Jesus is an effort to tell the most accurate depiction possible from an eastern mystic point of view. Unfortunately, the Orthodox church has attempted to make sense of and elaborate on metaphysical matters they hardly understood. Some call this occultism, gnosticism or secret esoteric doctrine but the yogis state this is ancient wisdom that has always been available to the sincere Truth Seeker This work was written in an honest effort to expound on the mystical interpretation of Jesus' teachings. To remain as authentic as possible we've made an effort to present Jesus in a way that is most likely accurate to the culture and climate of his times. Firstly, we've decided to address Jesus by his Aramaic birth name of Yesoshuah in which the more common alternative spelling is Yeshua. Yeshua of course means "God is Salvation." Yeshua known as the Son of God proclaimed ""not to throw pearls before swine"" because those that don't understand and appreciate the True meaning will merely "trample" on the message. He often spoke in parable and this presentation will seek to shine the Light on the Eternal Truth of man's spiritual Being ""Many rivers... One Ocean; many branches... One Tree; many paths... One Destination; many stories... One Truth "" 1 S.O.U.L. Publishing"

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second volume of the eminent Christian philosopher’s magnum opus, in which he explores humanity’s quest for Christ. Paul Tillich’s Systemic Philosophy is the most comprehensive and definitive presentation of his groundbreaking theological message: his “method of correlation”, which finds the answers to humanity’s most urgent existential dilemmas in the principles of Christian revelation. In volume two of this three-volume work, Tillich comes to grips with the central idea of his system—the doctrine of the Christ. Here, Tillich describes the human predicament as the state of “estrangement” from ourselves, from our world, and from the divine Ground of Being. This situation drives us to the quest for a new state of things, in which reconciliation and reunion conquer estrangement. This is the quest for the Christ.
