Freezyville is a wonderful place near Santa's workshop up by the North Pole. All the people there are made of snow, brought to life by the magic in the frosty air! In this, our first book in the "Secret Adventure of the North Pole" series, we meet Sammy The Snowboy. He must join his best friend, Sonny The Snowshoe Hare, on a rescue mission to save Sonny's brother, Stephen. Stephen wandered into Keepsake Forest. Those who enter the forest, never return! He is being held prisoner by Princess Rose. She collects forest animals, and keeps them locked up in her dungeon, because of the evil spell that was cast upon her. This terrible spell made the young, beautiful princess old and gray. The spell can only be broken by a random act of kindness from someone with the purest of hearts. Little does the princess know, Sammy is this special someone, and he is on his way to change her life! However, Sammy's time is limited. He can only stay alive outside of Freezyville for one day, with the help of Isabella The Nighttime Fairy's magic fairy dust. Unfortunately, Sammy and Sonny's rescue mission does not go as planned. It's up to Sammy's dad, Ziggy, and his friends -- Eddie The Elf, Ralphie Reindeer, and Paulie Puffin -- to use the Flying Ice Cream Truck to save the day. Hopefully, they'll be able to rescue the boys before it's too late to save Sammy's life, and get back to Freezyville for The Christmas Eve Snowfest celebration!

Book excerpt: One of America's finest hours in humanitarian aid has all but been forgotten. During World War I (1914-1918), a small band of young, idealistic Americans went behind the lines into German-occupied Belgium and helped save an entire nation from starvation. The American-led Commission for Relief in Belgium (CRB) initiated, organized, and supervised what became the largest food relief program the world had ever seen. The CRB and its Belgian counterpart, the Comité National (CN), fed for four years nearly 10 million Belgians and northern French trapped behind German lines. And as the U.S. humanitarian crusaders worked, they had to maintain strict neutrality as they watched civilians suffer under the harsh German regime. WWI Crusaders is the first nonfiction book for general readers that tells in one volume the interlacing stories of German brutality, Belgian resistance, and the Americans who ventured into Belgium. The book covers August 1914 through May 1917, when the last Americans had to leave Belgium because of America's April entry into the war. It's a story that few have heard but deserves to be told and remembered.
