The Lost Treasure of the Jamaican Pirate, is a treasure hunt for ancient gold set in a Blue Hole in the southern waters of the Caribbean Sea. The PT boat returns with its usual crew of treasure hunters to find the lost treasure which was placed there by a Jamaican Pirate named Captain Lester Smith in the late 1800's. He had been commissioned by the Union Army to fight against the Confederate Army, but, because of a last-minute swindle, he was forced to flee for his life, taking the Union money and became an outlaw. Now it is almost 150 years later and his great grandson, also a pirate, named Captain Lester Smith is hot on his ancestor's trail to find the lost treasure. There is a mercenary also looking for the gold and the three groups clash in their quest to find the lost treasure. The crew of the PT boat led by Captain Bill Treese, are diving in the dangerous water of the Blue Hole, which has held its secrets for the past century. Will they find the gold, only to lose it in the end to the other parties involved, or will they unlock a famous mystery and live to tell about it? Only time will reveal the lost treasure of the Jamaican pirate!

"No, they think they will, but they generally forget the marks or else they die. Anyway, it lays there a long time and gets rusty; and by and by somebody finds an old yellow paper that tells how to find the marks, --a paper that's got to be ciphered over about a week because it's mostly signs and hy'roglyphics." Hunting lost treasure is not work but a fascinating kind of play that belongs to the world of make believe. It appeals to that strain of boyishness which survives in the average man even though his pow be frosted, his reputation starched and conservative. It is, after all, an inherited taste handed down from the golden age of fairies. The folk-lore of almost every race is rich in buried treasure stories. The pirate with his stout sea chest hidden above high-water mark is lineally descended from the enchanting characters who lived in the shadow land of myth and fable. The hoard of Captain Kidd, although he was turned off at Execution Dock only two hundred years ago, has become as

But antiques dealer Toby Sandler learns that his new business partner Charlie has been found dead on an abandoned boat in the harbor. When the local sheriff discovers that Charlie’s newly acquired Hitchcock artifacts and a painting of an angel are missing, he enlists Toby and his wife, Nora Barnes, an art historian, in the investigation. Local tales about Hitchcock’s famous film, and some digging into the region’s past as a Russian outpost, provide Toby and Nora with clues to the existence of a lost masterpiece. Convinced that this forgotten work may hold the key to the murder, Nora and Toby set out to find it. When Nora’s trouble-prone sister Angie arrives, events take a surprising turn, leading to the uncanny realm of angel reading and putting Nora and her family in danger. As Nora and Toby investigate matters both criminal and otherworldly, Nora realizes that some mysteries in life may be too deep to solve.

Book excerpt: One of the biggest treasures thought still to be hidden in America is the shipment of the Mexican treasury just before Emperor Maximilian I of Mexico was executed by a Mexican nationalist firing squad. He sent his wife ahead early to Europe to receive the entire treasure, but neither he, nor the treasure ever made it. Six Missourians hired to assist the Austrian Guards in taking a 15-wagon team train in which the treasure was disguised as flour barrels from Mexico through West Texas to the port of Galveston, killed the wagon masters somewhere between Horsehead Crossing over the Pecos River and Castle Gap, a deep cut "V" between Castle Mountain and King Mountain. Estimates of the value of the treasure continue to escalate over time as the gold, silver, minted coins, metal plate, and jewels achieve greater historical value, not to mention the intrinsic price increases of the gold and silver. This historical fiction is based on fact. The treasure has never been found. The last estimated worth was over $10,000,000. I now estimate the value to be at least $200,000,000, although it could be considered priceless for its historic value. Only one man survived the trip after he and his six friends shot the entire wagon master crew, and then were killed by a marauding Comanche band themselves. He made it to Fort Concho, but was barely alive. As he lay dying, he drew a map of the Castle Gap area with markers of where the treasure was buried and gave it to Doctor Black, an appropriate name for the occasion. Dr. Black got together with a friend several months later and set out to find the buried treasure. They had not counted on the rapidly shifting dirt and sand, or the rapid degeneration of vegetation from the raw powerful gusts of West Texas storms. They never found the treasure. Countless legal and illegal parties blasted holes at night with dynamite on a ranchers property, and then tried to find the treasure by day, have searched over the past 150 years plus, but failed. Emperor Maximilian lost his life, Carlota, his empress went mad. The treasure sits somewhere laughing at the world.

Book excerpt: Fifty miles north of San Francisco, the Sonoma Coast is far removed from city life. Nearly two-thirds of its coastline is state and county parks, the southern half featuring sandy beaches, coastal terraces, and the fishing port of Bodega Bay. North of the Russian River are wooded cliffs and rugged coves that are ideal for hiking and diving. The Sonoma Coast is home to people who treasure their small, independent communities and who work hard to provide both a livelihood and a unique cultural landscape, from arts festivals to farmers markets.
