Book excerpt: A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. With unflinching honesty, Sarah shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church. Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in our deepest anguish and discover that you are worth everything it takes to get better. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The burning bush is a classic spiritual bombshell that reveals how God loved humanity and keeps to covenant. His appearance to Abraham in the dream that his lineage will serve as slaves in a foreign land for 400 years but shall be later set free came to pass in the burning bush. The appearance of God in the burning bush that was not consumed symbolized the children of Israel will not be consumed in the hands of their Egyptian slave masters. The story of the burning bush unfolds the moment that shapes the identity of the Israelites. As Moses tends the flock on the slopes of Mount Horeb, he encounters a phenomenon that defies the laws of nature; a bush ablaze with fire yet unconsumed by its flames. The voice of God emanates from this miraculous, instructing Moses to remove his sandals, for he stands on holy ground. This divine encounter serves as a powerful testament to God’s love for his people, Israel. This book reveals much. The burning bush, with the nature of being both fiery and unconsumed, serves as a symbol of great significance with purification and transformation. The fact that the bush remains unconsumed speaks to the enduring nature of God's message. The eternal flame transcends the limitations of time and mortality. The burning bush becomes a symbol of the timeless and unquenchable nature of divine revelation. The burning bush holds a central place in the realm of our spiritual transformation. The imagery of fire often evokes the concept of purgation, a process of purification and transformative catalyst, inviting individuals to shed their sandals, meaning the relinquishment of worldly attachments, and stand in the presence of the divine with humility and openness. In our own lives, we encounter challenges and adversities that may feel like consuming flames. The burning bush reminds us that, like the bush, we can withstand the fires of life and emerge transformed, stronger, and more resilient. This lesson encourages us to embrace the flames of adversity as opportunities for personal and spiritual growth. This is a loaded prayer book with meanings and understanding that I AM that I AM never sleeps or slumber. It will enlarge your coast of understanding and fruitfulness in the following areas: It is a powerful prayer book loaded with spiritual vomited prayers. The prayers in the book are eye-opener to success and breakthrough. It reveals you can be set free from captivity and deadly yokes of the enemy. The Lord is able to return the arrow of stagnation and poverty back to the sender to fulfil your destiny. It shows God’s spoken words don’t come back to him void. The covenant made with Abraham came to pass. It proves little number of Abraham and Sarah can become a promised nation on earth. God remembers you every day. The burning bush proves there is a God called Yahweh, all shown in the ten plagues in Egypt. God can break the backbone of the enemy and fight your battle in a twinkling of an eye. The burning bush serves as a timeless source of spiritual inspiration, offering individuals’ tangible symbol of divine presence and guidance. Its flames symbolize the enduring light of spiritual wisdom that illuminates the path for those seeking purpose and direction. This book reveals flames of transformative energy. This narrative encourages individuals to embrace change and growth, recognizing that challenges can lead to personal and spiritual transformation without consuming one's core essence. The burning bush is a spiritual tablet of heavens Christians need to accelerate oneness with God. It’s time to reap the fruitfulness of the burning bush. Christians, awake to this singular campaign. In the no-man’s land between the two, this curious outside wondered about the God they worshipped—and began a lifelong search to comprehend the grace and mystery of God. A Stranger in the House of God addresses fundamental questions and struggles faced by spiritual seekers and mature believers. Like a contemporary Pilgrim’s Progress, it traces the author’s journey and explores his experiences with both charismatic and evangelical Christianity. It also describes his transformation from religious outsider to ordained pastor. John Koessler provides a poignant and often humorous window into the interior of the soul as he describes his journey from doubt and struggle with the church to personal faith

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Preached at Enfield, Connecticut on July 8, 1741, this is perhaps the greatest sermon ever preached in America—and is certainly among the most well known. Owing to its forthright dealing with God’s wrath and His intense hatred of sin and the sinner, it is also one of the most controversial. Indeed, for more than three-quarters of the sermon Edwards lays down a relentless stream of the most vivid and horrifying descriptions of the danger facing unregenerate men. While it is difficult to read such graphic language, there is abundant hope in the sermon’s conclusion. Edwards puts it this way, “And now you have an extraordinary opportunity, a day wherein Christ has thrown the door of mercy wide open and stands calling and crying with a loud voice to poor sinners.” While those who would rather ignore God’s justice in favor of His mercy condemn Edwards and his sermon, those who were present and actually heard him preach that day reacted in a decidedly different manner. According to the diary of Reverend Stephen Williams who attended the sermon, “Before the sermon was done there was a great moaning and crying through the whole House, ‘what shall I do to be saved; oh, I am going to hell, etc.’” The diary goes on to indicate that Edwards had to interrupt his sermon and come down to minister to those who were under such awful conviction. And so, in spite of what the scoffers might think or say, “the amazing and astonishing power of God” was manifested among the people that day—with many falling not into the hands of an angry God, but into the arms of a mighty Savior.

Book excerpt: As well as the name of a virus, a corona is a crown, the pearly glow around the sun in certain astronomical conditions and a poetic form where interlinking lines connect a sequence. It is the perfect name therefore for this new collection of 150 poems by the bestselling poet Malcolm Guite, each one written in response to the Bible’s 150 psalms as they appear in William Coverdale’s timeless translation. The Psalms express every human emotion with disarming honesty, as anger and thankfulness alike are directed at God. All of life is here with its moments of beauty and its times of despair and shame. Like the Psalms themselves, the poems do not avoid the cursing and glorying over the downfall of your enemies, but wrestle honestly with them as we do when we come to say them.

Our efforts to find spiritual enlightenment have the opposite effect and reinforce an underlying feeling of lack, of separation. In Life Without a Centre, Jeff Foster suggests that there is only ever the present appearance of life, with no individual at its core who could ever escape even if they wanted to. The entire spiritual search is nothing more than a game we play with ourselves, the cosmic entertainment. Jeff cuts through the confusion and frustration surrounding the search for escape through spiritual enlightenment, by pointing to the utterly obvious: This moment, and everything that arises in it, is already the liberation that is sought. Life, just as it is, is already what we've been searching for our entire lives. Jeff Foster graduated in astrophysics from Cambridge University. Soon after graduation, life events propelled him onto an intense two-year spiritual search, culminating in the realisation that there was never anything to find in the first place. He currently writes and talks on what some people have called "non-duality," but which he just refers to as "the utterly, utterly obvious."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A soul-touching and inspiring book, God Is Alive and Well presents a fresh and exciting view of God that will ultimately draw readers into a deeper understanding of—and relationship with—their creator. Dr. Walker asserts that to “fully understand the God of all creation,” we must turn to recent discoveries in the field of quantum physics, specifically as they relate to the study of “new energy,” known as quantum, or “invisible,” energy. Dr. Walker calls this the “God energy of all creation.” It created, and continues to create, all that exists— including Him/Herself. Understanding God as the true spiritual energy has the potential to revolutionize our own spirituality. The Divine initiates relationships with us as part of His/Her continuing development. The relationship is reciprocal, as modeled in the life of Christ. When we are “born again,” or “spiritually awakened,” we turn our lives over to God and trust Him/Her to guide us through the various dimensions of life, while we do our part by exercising our “heart” to love and care for all life joined together in the divine energy. Prepare to be challenged and awakened as you journey into a theological and spiritual adventure that could revolutionize your relationship with the Almighty.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While atheists such as Richard Dawkins have now become public figures, there is another and perhaps darker strain of religious rebellion that has remained out of sight--people who hate God. In this revealing book, Bernard Schweizer looks at men and women who do not question God's existence, but deny that He is merciful, competent, or good. Sifting through a wide range of literary and historical works, Schweizer finds that people hate God for a variety of reasons. Some are motivated by social injustice, human suffering, or natural catastrophes that God does not prevent. Some blame God for their personal tragedies. Schweizer concludes that, despite their blasphemous thoughts, these people tend to be creative and moral individuals, and include such literary lights as Friedrich Nietzsche, Mark Twain, Zora Neale Hurston, Rebecca West, Elie Wiesel, and Philip Pullman. Schweizer shows that literature is a fertile ground for God haters. Many authors, who dare not voice their negative attitude to God openly, turn to fiction to give vent to it. Indeed, Schweizer provides many new and startling readings of literary masterpieces, highlighting the undercurrent of hatred for God. Moreover, by probing the deeper mainsprings that cause sensible, rational, and moral beings to turn against God, Schweizer offers answers to some of the most vexing questions that beset human relationships with the divine.
