Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author describes how as a high school student, he first met the “scientific approach to the study of the Gospels” and learned that the Gospel of St. Matthew was copied from an “older” document called “Q.” The question arose: if Matthew was a disciple of Jesus, why would he need another document to write about Jesus? A life-long struggle to answer that question resulted in the development of this new Interpretation. Matthew was a trained tax accountant. Taxation is all about keeping records and diaries. Jesus called Matthew to be a disciple. Matthew did what he knew best—keeping records and diaries as directed by Jesus. Analyzing its contents using principles of information assurance, Mano concludes that this gospel is in two parts. The first nine chapters happened before the call of Matthew, and the source of data is Jesus. After chapter ten, Matthew is the source of data. He recorded events as indicated by Jesus, including events after the arrest. This is the justification for calling it an authorized biography of Jesus Christ. The Ascension is omitted. That significant omission proves that this gospel was not written by a later Christian believer or organization, but happened because Matthew ceased his diaries before the Ascension. These diaries were obtained by Christians many years later and recognized as a gospel.

Book excerpt: The Gospel of Matthew is the first book in the New Testament. It truly is a “teaching” Gospel. It serves as an important resource for learning about the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. The Apostles needed this teaching so that they could effectively form the foundation upon which the future Christian church would be built. They needed this teaching to obey the commandment which Jesus gave them: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.” (Matt.28:19-20) Using an easy-to-understand format, The Gospel of Matthew offers an in-depth study that reveals why Christ’s presence forever changed the world. Author Carol Walker explores the true nature of Jesus, his mission on Earth, and his ministry. From his birth to his death and resurrection, Walker recounts Jesus’ life and, in so doing, reveals how Jesus fulfilled Old Testament prophecy. Walker presents thirty-four lessons that cover the twenty-eight chapters of Matthew. Each chapter is summarized to provide historical and cultural background information and a question and answer section presents an opportunity for further discussion. Lessons include the important work of the Holy Spirit, the ministry of John the Baptist, the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus’ interpretation of the Ten Commandments, and much more. The Gospel of Matthew presents a comprehensive study for individuals or groups. If you’re seeking to expand your knowledge of Jesus’ life and teachings and want to deepen your faith, let this be your guide.

In this journey through the Gospel of Matthew, Matt Woodley considers the audacious idea of a God with us--confronting us in the midst of all we've invested ourselves in and dedicated ourselves to, and encouraging us with the promise that the God who made us has a better life in mind for us. The Resonate series recovers the ancient wisdom of Scripture for a complex world. The stories and insights of each book of the Bible are brought into conversation with contemporary voices of hope and lament--the cultural messages we interact with on a daily basis. The Scriptures become a meeting ground where God is confronted with the pressing concerns of our day, and we are confronted in turn with a fresh experience of God's truth.

He spent the rest of his life convincing folks that this carpenter was the King. Jesus gave the call and never took it back. The relationship Jesus had with Matthew can serve to convince us that if Jesus had a place for Matthew, a tax collector, he just might have a place for us, too. Join beloved author Max Lucado as he enters Matthew's Gospel to find out what it looks like to be chosen by the Carpenter King—and what it looks like to accept his invitation. As you read, study, journal, and discuss the book of Matthew, watch for these key themes that Max will unpack throughout the book: God kept his promise of a deliverer for his people. God's ideas about his kingdom are often different from his people's ideas of the same kingdom. Jesus lived fully as a human and as God. Jesus' ministry and sacrifice changed the world forever. The Life Lessons with Max Lucado series brings the Bible to life in twelve lessons filled with intriguing questions, inspirational stories, and poignant reflections to take you deeper into God's Word. Each lesson includes: An opening reflection on the Bible book you're studying. Background information to deepen your understanding of the cultural and historical setting. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Matthew ends the silence of four hundred years between Malachis prediction and the declaration of the introduction of Jesus. Israel was under the mastery of the Roman Empire. No man of the place of David had been permitted to sit on the position of royalty for a long time. Presently, the quiet is broken and the coming Messiah, pronounced. The book of Matthew trails the Old Testament and is start of the New. It is the interfacing joined between the books. It is composed for the Jews, and it is fittingly set. It underestimates that the course of occasions is known to its perusers. The Old Testament had shut with the picked country, searching for their long-guaranteed king, their messiah. Matthews gospel demonstrates that Jesus was that King, that Messiah. It is the gospel of satisfaction. Matthew exhibits the Lord Jesus in an unmistakably Jewish relationship. Just in this one of the four gospels do we discover a record of the Messiahs assertion: I am not sent but rather unto the lost sheep of the place of Israel (Matt. 15:24). What did His own kin do with Him? (See John 1:11.) In numerical position, the book of Matthew is the fortieth in the ordinance. Thirty-nine books in the Old Testament, then Matthew. Forty is dependably various testing or probation in scripture. Jesus was enticed of the villain for forty days. Israel was in the wild for forty years. David was the best for forty years. Moses was in a royal residence for forty years, then on the rear of a leave for a long time. In this fortieth book of the Bible, Israel is in the place of probation and testing by the nearness of the Messiah in their middle. Jesus Christ is displayed as King to the Jews, and they dismiss Him as their Messiah, as well as their Savior (Matt. 16:21).
