Book excerpt: Wanda Fieldmouse was very intelligent, even for a mouse. Now normally, intelligent mice make every endeavor to avoid contact with humans, however intelligent those humans may be. All that changed for Wanda, however, when she awakened Christmas Eve morning. It was the moaning and groaning that caught Wandas attention, but then she saw the headlines in the papers: Santa Sick! and Rudolphs Nose Turns Blue! and Christmas Giving May Be Canceled! Wanda was horrified Christmas without presents?! No! she said. No! This is just not acceptable. Christmas without Santa! No! Everyone was talking about the problem, but no one seemed inclined to do anything about it. Well, for Wanda, it just wouldnt do, so against every judgement she had, including her better one, she went to the humans and told them her plan. Well, by this time the humans were willing to accept help on any level, and mouse or no, they welcomed Wandas willingness to help. Please help us! they wailed. We must have Christmas! Wanda, good-hearted creature that she was, said, Okay, I think I know just what to do. In the case of St. Nick, Ill unbite the snow-tick, and Ill wrap Rudolphs nose with unblue and then everything will be just fine! And with that, she set off to save Christmas . . . for the entire world! Read to find out how a mouse managed to save Christmas . . . even for us humans!

Book Synopsis The Late Great Planet Earth by : Hal Lindsey
Download or read book The Late Great Planet Earth written by Hal Lindsey and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2016-10-11 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The impact of The Late Great Planet Earth cannot be overstated. The New York Times called it the "no. 1 non-fiction bestseller of the decade." For Christians and non-Christians of the 1970s, Hal Lindsey's blockbuster served as a wake-up call on events soon to come and events already unfolding -- all leading up to the greatest event of all: the return of Jesus Christ. The years since have confirmed Lindsey's insights into what biblical prophecy says about the times we live in. Whether you're a church-going believer or someone who wouldn't darken the door of a Christian institution, the Bible has much to tell you about the imminent future of this planet. In the midst of an out-of-control generation, it reveals a grand design that's unfolding exactly according to plan. The rebirth of Israel. The threat of war in the Middle East. An increase in natural catastrophes. The revival of Satanism and witchcraft. These and other signs, foreseen by prophets from Moses to Jesus, portend the coming of an antichrist . . . of a war which will bring humanity to the brink of destruction . . . and of incredible deliverance for a desperate, dying planet.

Book excerpt: This story covers the controversial topic of what happens when you die, what you experience and the phenomenal power of the mind to work consciously, unconsciously and sub consciously. It also covers the way that death leads me to live a life with brain damage. I literally had to learn to live again. Extracts of the text have been used to teach university students who study topics associated with closed brain damage. This is a step by step account of how my crippled mind was taught to work, my struggle to understand how it works and the implications of its consciousness

Book Synopsis The Late Great Creature by : Brock Brower
Download or read book The Late Great Creature written by Brock Brower and published by ABRAMS. This book was released on 2011-10-05 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A lost classic . . . the history of a horror-film star and a treatise on human frailty . . . is back to be savored and marveled at anew” (James Ellroy, New York Times–bestselling author of the Lloyd Hopkins Trilogy). Simon Moro, a sixty-eight-year-old star, is making his last picture, a low-budget remake of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven. Moro, infuriated by the bland horror movies of his day, sees his own career—even as it ends—as an ongoing effort to wallop the public with an overwhelming moral shock. And he succeeds when an elaborate publicity stunt turns into a gruesome and grand personal statement. As Moro’s life reels toward its macabre end, it also reels backward through lies and evasions to show its surprising beginning. Underneath his Frankensteinian exaggeration, Moro has a vivid and humane story to tell, even as the coffins break open and dark, erotic secrets are revealed. Brock Brower has taken the horror film in all its gory glory to create a book that recycles pop material into literature, creating a Dickensian tale of America. “A wonderful book . . . Like a circus with several brilliant performances going on at the same time . . . A real breaking through. I don’t think anybody ever again will be able to dabble politely in mixing ‘real life’ and fiction.” —Joan Didion, New York Times–bestselling author of Slouching Towards Bethlehem “The way the book skewers society’s obsession with celebrity culture is even more valid today than when it was written, proving that great art stands the test of time.” —Forbes “A cult novel that amounts to a loving satiric tribute to cinema schlockmeister Roger Corman.” —New York Post
Book Synopsis The Last Days of the Late Great United States by : Richard Pawley
Download or read book The Last Days of the Late Great United States written by Richard Pawley and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2009-06 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For thousands of years money was real, usually gold or silver, until the Chinese invented paper money to replace real money. They, however, had such a bad time with it, with so many losing everything, time and time again, that it had been outlawed in China for more than a generation before western bankers thought up the idea and convinced King William in 1694 to replace the gold and silver and copper that Englishmen used with their newly printed paper. Thus began a grand experiment that may soon come to an end. The use of paper money, and a debt-based economy (once known as colonialism or imperialism, then capitalism, now called globalization) may soon be grinding down to a halt as nations around the world try to keep up with the United States in their printing of money. Because of derivatives everyone owes everyone else many times more money than the worth of the entire planet. The Kings of this Banker's Kingdom are killing the golden goose of taxpayers who have been supporting their lavish lifestyle for generations. So entitled are these super-rich that they see nothing wrong with goosing the taxpayers of the world for whatever they want. The United States and indeed the nations of the world exist for their benefit. If you understand this then so much of what goes on in the world becomes understandable, but even they are going to grievously suffer in the near future. Everyone is going to be affected! The Book of Revelation, the last book in the Bible, refers to what I believe will be a banking world dictatorship which will require all citizens of earth to carry the world leader's mark (micro-chip or micro-computer) in their right hands or forehead in order to buy or sell anything. It specifically says that this will be required of even a king which in today's parlance would also include prime ministers and presidents. Also Interesting is the mention that this mostly One-World Government will be controlled from Babylon (Iraq). Much will have to happen to bring all this about but events happening right now seem to be leading in that direction. Unfortunately fewer and fewer people seem to believe the truths of the Bible or to heed it's warnings. Even with the discovery in the late 20th Century of an actual code hidden within the ancient Hebrew text and accessible only by computer, a code which seems to contain much of the future existence on this planet, scoffers still tend to look on the Bible as merely history or worse yet, myth. We truly live in interesting times and they are going to get incredibly more interesting very soon. We have already passed the tipping point but only a few see it. Even with the advice in this book your life is going to be greatly different in less than a decade, perhaps by next year. Ignore this book entirely and there is a much higher probability that you will be one of the victims of The Last Days of The Late Great United States.

Book Synopsis The Last Great Senator by : David A. Corbin
Download or read book The Last Great Senator written by David A. Corbin and published by Potomac Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2012-10-31 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No person involved in so much history received so little attention as the late Robert C. Byrd, the longest-serving U.S. senator. In The Last Great Senator, David A. Corbin examines ByrdÆs complex and fascinating relationships with eleven presidents of the United States, from Eisenhower to Obama. Furthermore, Byrd had an impact on nearly every significant event of the last half century, including the Cold War, the civil rights movement, the Vietnam War, KennedyÆs New Frontier, the Watergate scandal, the Reagan Revolution, the impeachment of President Clinton, and the Iraq War. Holding several Senate records, Byrd also cast more votes than any other U.S. senator. In his sweeping portrait of this eloquent and persuasive manÆs epic life and career, Corbin describes Senator ByrdÆs humble background in the coalfields of southern West Virginia (including his brief membership in the Ku Klux Klan). He covers ByrdÆs encounters and personal relationship with each president and his effect on events during their administrations. Additionally, the book discusses ByrdÆs interactions with other notable senators, including Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Russell, Mike Mansfield, and especially Robert and Edward Kennedy. Going beyond the boundaries of West Virginia and Capitol Hill, The Last Great Senator presents Byrd in a larger historical context, where he rose to the height of power in America.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Veteran journalist Clement Mesenas looks back on eight eventful days in 1971 when a group of young reporters staged a historic strike that shut down The Straits Times, a company that had the proud tradition of never being off the streets in its 120 years of existence, not even during the Japanese occupation of Singapore. “Clement has written a cracker of a book. Even if you don’t love that national institution called The Straits Times, he tells a gripping tale of idealism, bravado and table-banging drama featuring indignant young journalists who take their battle against their parsimonious, disdainful, white-dominated Straits Times management to the streets two days before Christmas in 1971.” Tan Wang Joo, former editor of The Sunday Nation, and a deputy editor of The Straits Times. “It is more than a strike story. The writer’s account of newsroom life in pre-computer days should interest news junkies and those who care about the media industry.” Cheong Yip Seng, Singapore ambassador to Chile and former editor-in-chief of the English and Malay Newspapers Division of Singapore Press Holdings
