Book Synopsis The King of Prayers by : Shamar Rinpoche
Download or read book The King of Prayers written by Shamar Rinpoche and published by Rabsel Editions. This book was released on 2022-03-31 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In December, 2009, at the well-known Buddhist pilgrimage location of Bodh Gaya, India, Shamar Rinpoche gave a teaching on the Noble King of Prayers of Excellent Conduct, also known as the Samantabhadra Wishing Prayer. This book is based on this teaching. In the past, Buddha Shakyamuni gave the teaching of the Samantabhadra Wishing Prayer to urge practitioners to treat the great Bodhisattva Samantabhadra as a role model to emulate so that all their wishes may be accomplished. The Tibetan text, as well as an English-language version of the prayer itself, translated by Pamela Gayle White under the guidance of Shamar Rinpoche, is included in the book. As the author states, “ Once we accept that &‘ our world' is merely a mental experience, notions of big and small do not apply anymore, and our mind can hold any number of these manifestations. It is this capacity of our mind to extend itself beyond any limit that we have to use for our practice.”

This Dzogchen prayer explores the different manifestations of rigpa, our basic awareness in daily life, and constitutes a set of instructions for refining the path of practice. Taken from material from a series of talks in Germany and the United States, Penetrating Wisdom includes the text of the prayer, Rinpoche's always-lively commentary, and lucid answers to questions posed by his students. This book is a commentary on an ancient, well-known Tibetan Buddhist prayer of aspiration that expounds on the Dzogchen path to enlightenment. Containing key fundamentals about the Vajrayana path--the guru-student relationship, the role of faith in Vajrayana Buddhism, recognizing basic awareness, and the notion of reality that is beyond mental concepts--this book is a clear and accessible explication of a complex system of philosophy and meditation techniques that are central to Tibetan Buddhism. While the author is a traditionally trained master in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, he has won great appreciation in the West for his humor, familiarity with Western culture, and his unique talent for using examples that are drawn directly from Western metropolitan lifestyles. He has lived and taught in Europe and North America for many years.

Included are both personal and public prayers King recited as a seminarian, graduate student, preacher, pastor, and, finally, civil rights leader, along with a special section that reveals the biblical sources that most inspired King. Collectively they illustrate how King turned to private prayer for his own spiritual fulfillment and to public prayer as a way to move, inspire, and reaffirm a quest for peace and social justice. Book Synopsis Prayers to My King by : Sheri Rose Shepherd
Download or read book Prayers to My King written by Sheri Rose Shepherd and published by Multnomah. This book was released on 2009-10-21 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prayers to My King is a beautiful gift book created to help women connect intimately with their God. Where the first book in the His Princess™ series reminded us that we are loved intimately and unconditionally by our King, this second book helps us express our deepest thoughts, desires, fears and failures by emulating King David in the Psalms and crying out to God through prayer. Christian women will gain a personal, dynamic prayer life. You want to feel God’s presence… embrace His promises… cry out to Him… …but don’t know how! From your heart’s deepest cry to life’s joyful praises, nothing is off limits to Him. Go confidently now before His throne as you claim these powerful prayers as your own. He hears every word. He’s waiting to hear from you. If from there you will seek the Lord your God, you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and soul and life. Deuteronomy 4:29, AMP Story Behind the Book “Too many of God’s “chosen ones” don’t know how to have a real relationship with their Lord. We want to feel His presence, but we don’t know how to let Him in. We want to see His promises come true, but we don’t believe they are for us personally. We want to experience His power, but we keep trying to live life in our own strength. We want to cry out to Him, but we’re afraid to break down and admit that we’re weak. My prayer for this book is that women of God will have a personal, life-changing prayer life and be transformed into the daughters of the King they were destined to be from the beginning.”

Book excerpt: Practical Strategies for Gospel-Centered Children's Ministry When building a children's ministry at a church, there is so much to consider: Which curriculum should we use? How many volunteers do we need? How do we keep parents in the loop? And that's before we run into stalled check-in computers, missing activity sheets, and floors that need to be vacuumed. While all of the tasks of children's ministry are important, leaders can get easily distracted with the everyday work of doing ministry and lose sight of the main focus—the gospel. Writing from personal ministry experience, Jared Kennedy shares a four-fold approach for gospel-centered, missional children's ministry: hospitality, teaching, discipleship, and mission. This practical resource covers a variety of topics ranging from creating child protection policies to putting together lesson plans to catechism, helpful for children's ministers and volunteers alike as they disciple children with the powerful message of the gospel.
