This book was released on 2011-06-27 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The serious study of the reaction mechanisms of transition metal com plexes began some five decades ago. Work was initiated in the United States and Great Britain; the pioneers ofthat era were, inalphabetical order, F. Basolo, R. E. Connick, 1. O. Edwards, C. S. Garner, G. P.Haight, W. C. E. Higgision, E.1. King, R. G. Pearson, H. Taube, M.1. Tobe, and R. G. Wilkins.A larger community of research scientists then entered the field, many of them stu dents ofthose just mentioned. Interest spread elsewhere as well, principally to Asia, Canada, and Europe. Before long, the results ofindividual studies were being consolidated into models, many of which traced their origins to the better-established field of mechanistic organic chemistry. For a time this sufficed, but major revisions and new assignments of mechanism became necessary for both ligand sub stitution and oxidation-reduction reactions. Mechanistic inorganic chemistry thus took on a shape of its own. This process has brought us to the present time. Interests have expanded both to include new and more complex species (e.g., metalloproteins) and a wealth of new experimental techniques that have developed mechanisms in ever-finer detail. This is the story the author tells, and in so doing he weaves in the identities of the investigators with the story he has to tell. This makes an enjoyable as well as informative reading.
Book Synopsis Inorganic Reaction Mechanisms by : J. Burgess
Download or read book Inorganic Reaction Mechanisms written by J. Burgess and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 1974 with total page 519 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Annotation. Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.
Book Synopsis Inorganic Chemistry for Geochemistry and Environmental Sciences by : George W. Luther, III
Download or read book Inorganic Chemistry for Geochemistry and Environmental Sciences written by George W. Luther, III and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-08-01 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inorganic Chemistry for Geochemistry and Environmental Sciences: Fundamentals and Applications discusses the structure, bonding and reactivity of molecules and solids of environmental interest, bringing the reactivity of non-metals and metals to inorganic chemists, geochemists and environmental chemists from diverse fields. Understanding the principles of inorganic chemistry including chemical bonding, frontier molecular orbital theory, electron transfer processes, formation of (nano) particles, transition metal-ligand complexes, metal catalysis and more are essential to describe earth processes over time scales ranging from 1 nanosec to 1 Gigayr. Throughout the book, fundamental chemical principles are illustrated with relevant examples from geochemistry, environmental and marine chemistry, allowing students to better understand environmental and geochemical processes at the molecular level. Topics covered include: • Thermodynamics and kinetics of redox reactions • Atomic structure • Symmetry • Covalent bonding, and bonding in solids and nanoparticles • Frontier Molecular Orbital Theory • Acids and bases • Basics of transition metal chemistry including • Chemical reactivity of materials of geochemical and environmental interest Supplementary material is provided online, including PowerPoint slides, problem sets and solutions. Inorganic Chemistry for Geochemistry and Environmental Sciences is a rapid assimilation textbook for those studying and working in areas of geochemistry, inorganic chemistry and environmental chemistry, wishing to enhance their understanding of environmental processes from the molecular level to the global level.
Book Synopsis Mechanisms of Reactions of Metal Complexes by : Debabrata Banerjea
Download or read book Mechanisms of Reactions of Metal Complexes written by Debabrata Banerjea and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2022-09-21 with total page 539 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reaction Mechanisms of Metal Complexes in Solution provides a comprehensive overview of an often-overlooked research area. Despite its importance and recent reshaping of the field, many inorganic chemists have lost an appreciation for the significance of stability constants and the thermodynamic aspects of complex formation. Ideal for newcomers and established researchers in the field this book is a complete treatment of the area covering advanced topics with relevance to biomedical applications, extraction metallurgy, food chemistry and a wealth of other industrial processes and research areas. The book will be of particular interest to postgraduates with an interest in coordination chemistry, catalysis, supramolecular chemistry, metallobiology and related aspects of biochemistry.
