Download or read book The journey of Yuan and Kian written by Marin and published by Fontreal. This book was released on 2019-12-28 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Journey of Yuan and Kian is a whimsical children’s picture book about a land unicorn, Yuan, and a sea unicorn (or narwhal), Kian, and how they created the stars in the pitch-black sky. Yuan’s job is to poke holes in the soil with his horn so that people can plant seeds and grow fruits and vegetables. Kian’s job is to poke holes in the ocean with his horn so that the marine animals can get some air. When Yuan meets Kian, they form an immediate friendship and help each other dig holes faster so they can have time to play after work. Unfortunately, the evenings are dark and they realize that no one can play after sunset. With some help from the other animals, they find a way to add light to the night sky, allowing playtime to last longer. This children’s picture book has a touch of magic and its connection to folktales and fables will be enjoyed and admired by kids who like a meaningful story and dreaming big. With its message of “when you believe, you are,” The Journey of Yuan and Kian definitely deserves its place on children’s bookshelves.
Download or read book The tale of Was and Das written by Marin and published by Fontreal. This book was released on 2019-12-28 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Tale of Was and Das tells the hilariously funny story of two friends: an orphan gypsy boy, Was, and his German shepherd, Das. The boy and the dog live at the dumpster halfway between Fartsville and Burptown — an area where, ironically, the people come for fresh air. The dumpster provides the boy and the dog with shelter, toys and books. The pair fall in love with children’s books, especially picture books about dinosaurs. They decide to use materials from the dumpster to build Thesaurus, the biggest dinosaur in the world. Thesaurus becomes a tourist attraction and brings Fartsvillians and Burptownians together. This children’s book is the only one of the 2GETHER picture book collection that is not illustrated by Marin; Peter Stan, a prolific European illustrator created the entertaining artwork for this title.
Download or read book 'Twas the Night written by Marin and published by Fontreal. This book was released on 2019-12-01 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The only wordless book in the 2Gether Picture Book Collection is ‘Twas the Night. The illustrations-only story shows a boy who is in a wheelchair. The setting is dark, urban, and the streets are sprinkled with Christmas lights. The boy finds an injured white dove on a sidewalk. He nurses the bird back to health with gentle care and trains the bird until it is able to fly again. In the entire book there are no people, cars or other creatures which re-enforces the uniqueness of the two protagonists and adds a dream-like atmosphere to the publication. One of the illustrations shows a framed picture of Peter Pan’s shadow on the mantle, and readers realize the boy’s dream: he wants to fly with the dove. ‘Twas the Night is a real Christmas wonder that encourages readers to apply their own imagination, to verbalize their own feelings, and to interpret their own emotions while following the illustrations. The subliminal message? Dream big. It’s a story in which the boy and the dove fly free and when high in the sky they encounter Santa flying in his sleigh. ‘Twas the Night is a remarkable book in which dream and reality mix and imagination take flight, just as the dove and the boy in the wheelchair do.

Book excerpt: "At a time when each Society had its own medium of propogation of its researches ... in the form of Transactions, Proceedings, Journals, etc., a need was strongly felt for bringing out a journal devoted exclusively to the study and advancement of Indian culture in all its aspects. [This] encouraged Jas Burgess to launch the 'Indian antiquary' in 1872. The scope ... was in his own words 'as wide as possible' incorporating manners and customs, arts, mythology, feasts, festivals and rites, antiquities and the history of India ... Another laudable aim was to present the readers abstracts of the most recent researches of scholars in India and the West ... 'Indian antiquary' also dealt with local legends, folklore, proverbs, etc. In short 'Indian antiquary' was ...entirely devoted to the study of MAN - the Indian - in all spheres ... " -- introduction to facsimile volumes, published 1985.

Book Synopsis Global Nationalism: Ideas, Movements And Dynamics In The Twenty-first Century by : Pablo De Orellana
Download or read book Global Nationalism: Ideas, Movements And Dynamics In The Twenty-first Century written by Pablo De Orellana and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2022-10-04 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The twenty-first century is witnessing a truly transnational revival of a very old set of ideas. Despite romantic attachments to old symbols, these late modern nationalism movements are not simply replicas of the previous two waves of nationalism in the 1860s and 1920s. Nor is it true that today's nationalism movements want simply to return to the past and effect a nationalist 1930s-style retrenchment. From Putin's macho revivalism, through to Trump's shocking victory and Xi's strongman regionalism, nationalists engage with the economic context of our time and address issues born of globalization. Crucially, in their vision for international relations they seek the destruction of key international norms in a drive to restore a vision of sovereignty predicated on a survivalist understanding of state power.Global Nationalism, edited and framed by Pablo de Orellana and Nicholas Michelsen, brings together the latest research by up-and-coming early career researchers and scholars. Beginning with a succinct history and typology of contemporary nationalism and its predecessors, this book offers analysis of several cases of contemporary nationalism, examining how specific movements define identity, address grievances and propose identity-based solutions. Key themes and lessons emerge from the study of a variety of cases, from the very ideas animating nationalist thought, to their expression in a wide variety of nationalist movements around the world. The reflections on the ecosystem of nationalist ideas and movements offered in this volume are a vital starting point in the study of contemporary nationalism as a global twenty-first century phenomenon.
