I am informed that she had no spasmodic affection during or subsequently to her illness; but it was observed, when she began to run about again, that she was lame. This lameness gradually increasing, its cause was observed to be in the foot, whose distortion grew more and more obvious until I saw her, in August, 1854. The case then presented all the peculiarities of a well-marked Talipes varus, the weight of the body resting upon the external margin of the foot; one only being effected. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in our edition. We do, however, repair the vast majority of imperfections successfully; any imperfections that remain are intentionally left to preserve the state of such historical works.
