Book excerpt: Excerpt from Transactions of the Connecticut State Dental Association The foregoing Circular, issued by the Committee, was sent to the address of every Dentist in the State, whose name could be ascertained, and in accordance with said call, thirty-nine Dentists met in Central Hall, Hartford, on the 20th of Oct., 1864. A temporary organization was effected by the election of Dr. E. E. Crofoot, of Hartford, as Chairman, and Dr. Jas. McManus, of Hartford, as Secretary. Drs. Metcalf, McManus, Sheffield, Geer, and Pelton, were appointed to draft Constitution and By-laws. Adjourned to meet at two, P. M. Convention called to order at two, P. M., by the Chairman. The Committee appointed to draft Constitution and By-laws presented their report, which was accepted. The Articles were taken up in order, read, and passed. The Dentists present signed their names to the Constitution, paid the initiation fee of three dollars, and became Members of the Connecticut State Dental Association.
